NOTE:
HPE recommends that you use HPE QSFP+ transceiver
modules, QSFP+ DAC cables, or QSFP+ to SFP+ DAC cables fo
r
the QSFP+ ports on the LSWM2QP2P interface card. The
QSFP+ transceiver modules, QSFP+ DAC cables, and QSFP+ to
SFP+ DAC cables available for the interface card are subject to
change over time. For the most recent list of QSFP+ transceiver
modules, QSFP+ DAC cables, and QSFP+ to SFP+ DAC cables
available for the interface card, contact HPE Support or marketing
staff.
LEDs
Table 5 describes LEDs for the QSFP+ ports.
Table 5 QSFP+ LED descriptions
LED status Description
Steady green
A transceiver module is installed in the port. The
port is operating at 40 Gbps, and a link is
present on the port.
Flashing green The port is sending or receiving data at 40 Gbps.
Steady yellow
A transceiver module is installed in the port. The
port is operating at 10 Gbps, and a link is
present on the port.

5
LED status Description
Flashing yellow The port is sending or receiving data at 10 Gbps.
Off No transceiver module is installed in the port, or
no link is present on the port.
NOTE:
The QSFP+ port LEDs are not affected by the port mode
switching button on your switch. For more information about the
port mode switching button, see the installation guide of the
switch.
▌Installing and removing an interface card
CAUTION:
•Before you install or remove an interface card, wear an ESD
wrist strap and make sure the wrist strap makes good skin
contact and is reliably grounded.
•To avoid device damage, do not use excessive force when you
install or remove an interface card.
Prepare the following tools before you install or remove an interface
card:
•Phillips screwdriver.
•Flat blade screwdriver.
•ESD wrist strap.
The installation tools are not provided with HPE devices. Prepare
them yourself.
Installing an interface card
This guide uses the HPE 5510 24G 4SFP+ HI 1-slot Switch (JH145A)
as an example.
To install an interface card:
1. Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw on the filler
panel in the target interface card slot, as shown by callout 1
in Figure 2.
Keep the removed screw secure for future use.

6
2. Insert the flat blade screwdriver through the handle on the filler
panel to pull out the filler panel, as shown by callout 2 in Figure 2.
Keep the removed filler panel secure for future use.
3. Unpack the LSWM2QP2P interface card.
4. Insert the interface card slowly into the slot along the guide rails,
as shown by callout 1 in Figure 3.
5. Rotate inward the ejector lever as shown by callout 2 in Figure 3
until the interface card is in close contact with the switch.
6. Use the Phillips screwdriver to tighten the captive screw on the
interface card as shown by callout 3 in Figure 3.

7
Removing an interface card
CAUTION:
•Before you remove an interface card, remove the cable from it.
•After removing an interface card, if no new interface card is to
be installed, install the filler panel as soon as possible to
prevent dust and ensure good ventilation in the device.
To remove an interface card:
1. Prepare an anti-static bag.
2. Use the Phillips screwdriver to loosen the captive screw on the
interface card, as shown by callout 1 in Figure 4.
3. Rotate outward the ejector lever as shown by callout 2 in Figure 4.
4. Pull out the interface card slowly out the interface card slot as
shown by callout 3 in Figure 4.
5. Place the removed interface card in the anti-static bag.

modules or DAC cables, see QSFP+ Transceiver Modules/Cables
Installation Guide
Verifying the installation
After the installation is complete, identify whether the interface card is
operating correctly according to the status of the QSFP+ port LEDs.

8
If the interface card fails to operate correctly, perform the following
steps:
1. Reinstall it following the installation procedures described in this
document.
2. If the problem persists, contact HPE Support.
