microprocessorwithhigherfrequencyisrecommended.
l32 MBRAMorabove. The memoryof128 MBoraboveis
recommended.
l30 MBidleharddiskorabove.
lWindowsXPorWindows2000operatingsystem.
lDisplayresolution of800 %600pixelsorabove. Displayresolution of
1024 %768pixelsisrecommended.
Preparing theDataCard
1. Takeoutthe HUAWEI3GData Cardfromtheprotectivecover.
2. Asshowninthefollowingfigure,inserttheSIM/USIMcardintotheslot
on thebackoftheDataCard,andmakesure thegoldencontactonthecardis
facing downwards.

Thereareslightdifferencesinthe installation proceduresbetweenWindows
XP,Windows2000.InstalltheDataCardaccordingtothespecificprompt
information,ifanystepinyourinstallation differsfromwhatisdescribed.
Here,wewilltaketheWindowsXPoperating systemasanexample.
Note
Makesure thattheDataCardManagementhasbeeninstalledbefore theData
Cardisinsertedintoyourlaptop.
InstallingtheDataCardManagement
1. Putthe CDthatcontainsthe DataCardManagementintothe CD-ROM
drive ofyourlaptop.
2. The installation proceduresstartautomatically. If theAUTORUN
proceduredoesnotrespond,pleasebrowse theCDtofind andrunthe
Setup.exe.Nowtheinstallation procedureshouldstartautomatically.
3. Whenthe ChooseLanguage dialogboxappears,selectthe
correspondinglanguage,andclick OK.
4. Install theDataCardManagementaccordingtothe instructionsofthe
setup program.
5. Aftersuccessfulinstallation,ashortcuticon fortheDataCard
Managementappearsonthedesktop.
InstallingtheDataCardHardware
1. Insertthe DataCardwhichcontainsthe SIM/USIMcardintothe
PCMCIAslotofyourlaptop.

2. Nowthesystemwillfind thenewhardwareandinitializethenew
hardware InstallationShieldWizardautomatically.
RemovingtheDataCard
Toremove the DataCardfromyourlaptop,pleaseuse thehardware
removing functionoftheWindowssystemtostoptheoperation oftheData
Card,andthenpull it out. Followtheprocedurebelow:
1. Double-clicktheicon onthelowerrightofyourlaptopscreen;an
UnplugorEjectHardware dialogboxisdisplayed.
2. StoptheuseoftheData Cardhardware"NECPCItoUSBOpenHost
Controller".
3. Afterthesystempromptsthatitissafetoremove thedevice, pulloutthe
DataCard.
Note
lDonotremovetheDataCarddirectlywithoutfollowing theabove
procedures,lestyourlaptopmaybeharmed.
lDonotremovetheDataCardwhentheoperating systemisinthe
Hibernate or Standby mode.

UninstallingtheDataCardManagement
Therearetwomethodstouninstalling theDataCardManagement:
lYoucanuninstalltheDataCardManagementthroughthe Add/Remove
function ofControlPanelintheoperatingsystem.
lYoucanselect Programs/HuaweiDataCard/Uninstall inthe Start
menutouninstalltheDataCardManagement.

StarttheDataCardManagement
1. Tostarttheprogram,double-clicktheshortcuticon ofthe
HUAWEI3GData Cardonthedesktop.
2. If itpromptstoenterthePIN(PersonalIdentification Number),entera
validPINandclick OK.
Note
lYouhavethreechancestoenteravalidPIN.Ifyou enterawrong
PINthrice,yourSIM/USIMcardwouldbelocked. Ifthishappens,usethe
PUK(PINUnblockingKey)tounlockit.
lYouhave10chancestoenteravalidPUK.Ifyou enterawrong
PUKtentimes,yourSIM/USIMcardwouldceasetooperate.Ifthishappens,
contactyourcardcarrier.
lWhenyou failedtoenterthevalidPINorthePUK,you canclick
Cancel tocancelthevalidation operation.Inthiscase,you cannotusethe
relatedfunctionsofSIM/USIMcard.Forexample,accessing the Internet,
sendingand receiving messages,andreadingmessagesinSIM/USIMcard.
lThe PINandthePUKareprovidedbyyourSIM/USIMcard
carrier.Forinformationabouthowtomodify, enableordisablethePIN,refer
