3. Principle of operation
The displayed humidity value is the humidity value measured by the built-in humidity sensor
plus the calibration value. When the displayed humidity value is less than the humidity setting
value, the built-in fan runs to blow the moist air in the water cartridge into the humidor. The fan
stops when the displayed humidity value is equal to or greater than the humidity setting value.
4. Setting
There are three keys on the control unit as shown in the figure below. The keys are used to set
the humidity setting value and humidity calibration value. The parameters set by the user are
stored in the microprocessor of the control unit and will not be lost even power off.
Humidity Setting Value,The user can set the demanded humidity value. The factory
setting is 70%RH. The value is adjustable in the range of 60%RH to 80%RH. Press the key
‘▲’ or the key ‘▼’, the value will be displayed on LED and changed. The value will be
saved and the humidifier will exit the setting without any key operation for more than 3
seconds, .
Humidity calibration value, Key ‘C’ is for calibration. You may set calibration value to
improve the accuracy. The factory setting calibration value is zero. Click key ‘C’ and you
will see the calibration value displayed on LED, within 3 seconds, press Key ‘▲’ or ‘▼’ to
increase or decrease the calibration value within a range of -5.0 to +5.0.
For example, if the displayed humidity value is 2%RH higher than the actual environmental
humidity value, you may set calibration value as -2.0 , and then the displayed humidity value
will equal to the measured humidity value by sensor plus the calibration value -2.0.
5. Applicability
The difference between S1 & M1 is the height of the water cartridge and the length of the
ribbon cable. S1 is with size of 6” (153m) Length, 2” (50mm) Width , 2.3” (59mm) Height,
suitable for a desktop humidor.
M1 is with size of 6” (153m) length, 2” (50mm) Width , 3.3” (84mm) Height, suitable for a

bigger humidor or a cigar cabinet. More M1 are recommended for a non-refrigeration cabinet with space
more than 8 cubic feet (230 liters) or a refrigerator with space more than 2 cubic feet (60 liters).
6. Location
You may put the humidifier in a humidor or a cigar cabinet after the humidifier has been installed and set
to regulate the desire humidity level. Make sure the air paths of the humidifier has not been blocked. It is
recommended the humidifier to be placed with the LED up toward. Keep at least 2” (50mm) clearance
from the side air outlet of humidifier to cigars or wall of a humidor and 0.2” (5mm) clearance from the top
air inlet to the lid. For a cabinet application, it is recommended that the humidifier to be placed on the
centre position of the top layer, and if there are more humidifiers, the second humidifier to be placed on the
centre position of the middle layer. The thin ribbon cable be used to pass through the lid seam and keep the
air-tightness.
7. Alerts
Fan failure, The LED displays ‘ ’and the buzzer sounds to indicate ‘fan failure’ when the built-in
fan fails.
Lack of water, When the displayed humidity value is at least 10% lower than the humidity setting
value for two hours, the LED displays‘ ’and the buzzer sounds to indicate ‘lack of water’.
8. Optional parts
External fan, used to enhance the air circulation of the cigar storage environment.
Serial connection cable, used to connect multiple humidifiers in series to simplify the power supply.
Up to three humidifiers can be powered by one set of power supply with the serial connection cables.

10. Frequent Questions and Answers
10.1 Can users contact the manufacturer for technical or quality issues?
Yes. You may contact the seller or HumidiCup support staff by sending an email to
[email protected] for any technical or quality issues. Usually we will reply you within 24
hours.
10.2 Can the humidifiers be used with moisturizing liquid such as Propylene
Glycol?
No. Only DISTILLED or PURIFIED WATER can be used. Our test and many cases have
shown long-term close to Propylene Glycol will cause the humidity sensor to drift to a higher
value irreversibly.
10.3 Can the DC connector of power cord be connected to the ‘external fan’
port on the side of the control unit?
Yes. The ‘5VDC in’ port and ‘External fan/5VDC out’ port is circuit connected in parallel, and
either can be used as power supply port. But don’t connect power supply to the two ports
at the same time.
10.4 Does the power cord affect the sealing of a humidor or a cigar cabinet?
No. The power cord is equipped with a 0.3mm thickness ribbon cable, which passes through
the seam of the lid and keep air-tightness.
10.5 How many humidifiers are needed for a refrigerated cigar cabinet?
The refrigeration function of a refrigerated cabinet has significant dehumidification

effect. One M1 humidifier is recommended for every 50 to 60 liters of space in a refrigerated
cigar cabinet.
10.6 How often to add water to S1 for a desktop humidor?
Normally once a month and depends on the size, sealing condition of the humidor and the environmental
humidity.
10.7 Can the humidifier be powered by a 5V battery?
The humidifier can be powered by a 5V battery without automatic low-current cut-off function. However,
the power banks usually are with such function, which cannot provide continuous power to the humidifier.
10.8 Why does my humidifier indicates ‘H2O’ however the water cartridge is full of
water?
The alert is mostly caused by insufficient water in the water cartridge. ‘lack of water’ alert could happen
if the size of the humidor exceeds the humidification capacity of the humidifier or the humidor is not well
sealed.
10.9 How to make sure that the humidifier reading is accurate?
Remove the water cartridge, power on the control unit and place it on a table with another accurate
hygrometer together for comparison. You need to keep a distance of 2 meters (7 feet) away from the
devices and wait for the readings of the devices to stabilize before the comparison.
