HYCO ASSAM MANUAL-FILL BOILING WATER UNIT
1. INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing the Assam Manual-Fill Boiling Water Unit from Hyco Manufacturing Ltd.
The unit features double wall insulation for cooler surface and lower operating costs.The automatic
boil and simmer means that no temperature adjustment is required.The unit also features two heating
elements - a main element and a ‘keep warm’ element which operate from the thermostat.
Do not proceed with installation or operation if there is sign of any damage to the product or the
power cord.

2. IMPORTANT SAFETY POINTS
READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE FIRST USE.
DO NOT IMMERSE THE APPLIANCE IN WATER.
DO NOT SWITCH ON THE APPLIANCE IF THERE IS NO WATER IN THE TANK.
ALWAYS USE THE APPLIANCE ON A DRY, LEVEL AND HEAT-RESISTANT SURFACE AWAY
FROM ANY EDGES.
ENSURE HANDS ARE DRY BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE.
THIS APPLIANCE PRODUCES BOILING WATER – ENSURE THE UNIT IS OUT OF REACH
OF CHILDREN.
THE OUTSIDE OF THE APPLIANCE GETS VERY HOT DURING USE. DO NOT TOUCH
THE SURFACE.
DO NOT REMOVE THE TOP COVER WHILE BOILING.
IF THE APPLIANCE IS OVERFILLED, BOILING WATER MAY SPILL OUT OF THE UNIT.
TO ENSURE CORRECT OPERATION THE UNIT SHOULD BE OPERATED IN AN AMBIENT
TEMPERATURE BETWEEN 10°C - 38°C.
THE APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED.
3. INSTALLATION
Imortant - Before First Use
Clean the inside of tank and lid with hot, soapy water; then rinse thoroughly.
Plan your installation carefully and choose a suitable position for the unit.

4. OPERATION
Fillthetankwithcoldwater.Thereisamaximumlevelmarkedontheinsideofthetank–donotll
above this mark.
Replace the cover and switch the unit on.The heating lamp indicator should now light up and the unit
will begin to heat the water (see table below for heat up times).
Once the water temperature reaches approximately 97° C, the auto-thermostat switches the
main heating element off and the ‘keep warm’ element on.This maintains the water at the correct
temperature.
Continue to draw from the unit until approximately ¼ of the tank remains before adding further cold
water.The addition of the volume of cold water will switch the main element on and re-heat the water.
Thermal Cut-out
Theapplianceisttedwithathermalcut-out.Ifthisisactivated,theunitwillturnitselfoff.Theunitmust
be unplugged before it can be reset.To reset the appliance, wait until the unit has cooled down.The reset
button is located on the underside of the unit.
If resetting this thermal cut-out does not switch the unit back on, please contact us.
5. CARE AND MAINTENANCE
This unit must be cleaned thoroughly after each use.This is in addition to a weekly clean using white
vinegar or any de-scaler suitable for stainless steel kettles to remove mineral deposits (please follow de-
scaler manufacturer’s instructions). If these deposits are not removed, pitting of the metal can occur and
may result in damage to the appliance.
Cleaning after use
 •Ensureunitisswitchedoffanddisconnectedfromthepowersupply.
 •Cleanthetank,lidandbodyetcanddrythemwithasoft,drycloth.
 • Iftheapplianceistofunctionproperly,theheatingplatelocatedinthebaseofthetankmustbefree
of limescale.
 • Tocleanthetap,moveabrushupanddownthroughthetap,theninsertthebrushthroughthe
opening inside the appliance to clean the tap connection.Wash the tap handle in hot soapy water
and rinse. Replace the tap.
 •Donotusebakingsodatocleantheapplianceasitcandiscolourandpitthemetal.

7. GUARANTEE AND SERVICE POLICY
This product is guaranteed against faulty materials and manufacture for a period of one year from the
date of purchase. Hyco will in its sole discretion replace, repair or refund any faulty unit. Incorrect
installation, consequences of limescale deposits and failure to follow correct operating instructions are
excluded. Consequential costs such as labour charges or damage to surroundings are expressly excluded.
