Congratulations on buying this i-sotec pro-
duct and thank you for your confidence in
our products.
With this i-sotec amplifier you have acquired
a technologically perfected and innovative
product that will provide you with many
years of excellent music enjoyment.
We made special efforts in the design of
both the circuitry as well as the product in
order to be able to produce something
that would keep you company for many
years.
i-sotec products bear the fruits of experi-
ences gathered over many years by our
engineers, professional journal editors and
not least of all of car audio dealers from
whom we have got many good ideas.
i-soamp-4 is a 4-channel car audio amplifi-
er designed to be used in cars with a built-
in (OEM) car radio. A complete adapter
line makes its use possible with more than
500 automotive variants without compli-
cated wiring work. Of course, i-soamp-4
can be used with any conventionally sold
car radio.There is in addition the option
of connecting two of the four channels in
bridge mode in order to be able to oper-
ate subwoofers with more than double
the output power.
The broad variety of settings and adjustment
options make i-sotec i-soamp-4 an all-round
genius in your car.
Please read these Instructions care-
fully before installation in order to
avoid mistakes. In cases of doubt, ple-
ase contact your specialized dealer.

PROPER USE and APPLIANCE AS
DIRECTED
The i-soamp-4 is exclusively intended for
operation in a motor vehicle with a 12V
automotive wiring system and on the
original loudspeaker cable harness. It picks
up the audio signals from the OEM radio
and feeds them amplified to the car‘s
loudspeakers.
INSTALLATION
When installing, keep care that the i-soamp-4
is well ventilated.The amplifier must not be
covered over or mounted in the vicinity of
other heat emitting objects or being ex-
posed to the direct effects of sunshine!
The i-soamp-4 can by itself heat up consi-
derably (up to 80°C), therefore care must
be taken to ensure distance to other heat
sensitive car components (in particular plas-
tic parts and electronic components)!
For safety reasons, the i-soamp-4 must be
firmly installed in the car. Mount it with the
screws provided to a solid and appropriate
base. Do not drill holes in parts of the car
if you do not know what is located behind
them. Be careful about cable harnesses
and fuel pipes!!
1. CONNECTION
The i-soamp-4 is connected directly to the
car‘s cable harness and to the original ra-
dio by means of an adapter. With vehicle
models without an ISO connection, an
adapter specifically customized for the mo-
del in question is required (ask your i-sotec
dealer for details).

The following connections options are
possible:
1.2 Normal
The i-soamp-4 is con-
nected to the front
and rear loudspeakers.
The selector switch
set to the „normal“
position for this pur-
pose.That means that
all four loudspeakers
are operated with
fullrange frequency
response.

1.3 Front speakers + Subwoofer
In this variation the
front loudspeakers and
the optional subwoofer
are driven by the
i-soamp-4.The rear
loudspeakers can be
connected directly
to the OEM radio by
switching the four-pin
plug (see drawing).
Please use exclusively
i-sotec subwoofers!
Other subwoofers may
cause damage to your i-soamp-4.

The selector switch is toggled to the
„Front + Sub“ position in this system varia-
tion. In that switch position the necessary
active filters for the bass loudspeaker and
the front speakers are automatically set.
The level adjustment for the front loudspea-
kers is done with the front level control.
The subwoofer level is adjusted via the
rear level control.

1.4 Four loudspeakers + optional subwoofer
In this connection variation the front
loudspeakers and
the rear loudspea-
kers are driven by
one i-soamp-4. The
bass loudspeaker is
driven with another
optional i-soamp-2.
Due to increased
power requirements
from these two
amplifiers, it is ne-
cessary to connect
the amplifiers power
cables directly to the
battery.
Please use exclusively i-sotec subwoofers!
Other subwoofers may cause damage to
your i-soamp-4!
In this connection variation the selector
switch is placed in the „4CH+Sub“ position.
In that switch position the necessary active
filters for the front and rear loudspeakers
are automatically activated.The loudspea-
ker connection plan is identical to the
„Normal“ setting.
The position for the i-soamp-2 selector
switch and the loudspeaker connection
plan can be seen in the operating instruc-
tions for the 2-channel amplifier.

1.5 Connecting the power supply
The i-soamp-4‘s standard delivery is with
an ISO power adapter. Due to different
connection pin configurations of different
automotive producers for the 12V Dauer-
plus power voltage in the ISO plug, the
i-sotec power adapter has the capability to
solve this problem.The power adapter is
connected between the OEM radio and
the original cable harness, like the loudspea-
ker adapter.

which Constant 12V is con-
nected. (To check, please use
a voltmeter or a test lamp).
4. plug connected to i-soamp-4 main cable
harness. On this plug connection other
model-specific adapters can be connec-
ted to the i-soamp-4.
5. Radio
The i-soamp-4 has a maximum power re-
quirement of 15A per amplifier. With a few
cars, and when two amplifiers are connected,
the radio wiring cannot cover this power re-
quirement. In that case the i-soamp-4 has to
be connected directly to the battery.
1.6 Notes on direct connection to the
battery:
Prior to any electric connection of the to the
12 V power system in your car, make sure to
disconnect the battery!
At first , look for a suitable grounding point
(Gnd, Common) on the chassis of your car
in the vicinity of your i-soamp-4 where you

can connect the black „Minus“ cable. Be
sure to provide good electrical contact!
Connect the other end of this cable to
the black (-) clamp on the i-soamp-4 cable
harness.The plug contacts needed for this
comes as accessories. Keep all negative
/Ground cables in the system as short as
possible and guide them through the same
point in order to prevent static noise in-
duction.
The Grounding point must have perfect
electrical contact to the chassis and the
battery‘s negative terminal. Make sure not
to use chassis parts that may only have
been glued to the vehicle chassis instead
of being welded or screwed!
The next step is connecting the plus power
cable from the positive terminal of the
battery via an appropriate fuse to the
yellow (+) wire on the i-soamp-4 cable
harness.The plug contacts needed for this
come as accessories.Take care when instal-
ling this cable that it is routed without any
kinks and avoid contact with sharp-edged
metal sheeting parts. Use rubber grommets.
CAUTION
A main fuse MUST be inserted into the
plus cable at a maximum distance of 12“
(=30 cm) from the battery‘s plus terminal
(insurance regulations!) that is triggered in
case of mechanical damage to the cable
due to chassis contact in order to prevent
a fire in the cable! Its capacity must be
adapted to the entire system‘s power in-
take, the minimum is 60A.The fuse in the
i-soamp-4 cable harness only protects the
amplifier itself, not the battery or the car!
Both power cables (+ and Ground) must
have sufficient diameter. i-sotec recommends
a minimum diameter of 6 mm for the
i-soamp-4.
With a thinner cable the output power
indicated cannot be attained, and to some
extent the internal protection will be trig-
gered by under-voltage, switching the am-
plifier off periodically. Cables that are too
weak can in addition heat up considerably!
After properly connecting the power cable
the battery can be reconnected.
