Hardware Installation
Please insert the USB Adapter into the USB port of our computer / Laptop
There are two ways to install the Adapter:
Plug the Adapter dire tly to the USB port on your omputer.
Conne t the Adapter and your omputer through the USB able atta hed in pa kage.
The LED will light up when the Adapter is installed su essfully and the PC is on.

Software Installation
Overview
The Adapter’s Setup Wizard will guide you through the Installation pro ess. The Setup Wizard
will install the Wireless Utility and drivers.
When you install the hardware before installing the software, the system will prompt “Found New
Hardware Wizard”. Cli k Cancel, and run the Setup Wizard program on the CD-ROM.
The Setup steps for Windows operation Systems are very similar. The User Guide takes the
Windows XP for example to explain the installation.
Software Installation for Windows XP
Insert the Resour e CD into your CD-ROM drive, and open the folder with the same name as
your produ t. Then double- li k Setup.exe in the proper folder to start the installation, and Figure
0 -1 will appear. You an li k Cancel to end the installation in the s reen. Otherwise, the
installation will ontinue.

Wireless Network Connection under Windows 7 and 8
Cli k the wireless onne tion in the lower right orner of the omputer’s desktop to view the
available wireless networks. Sele t the wireless network you wish to onne t and li k
“Conne t” or double li k the wireless network to onne t. If you don’t find the spe ified one,
please li k the refresh i on in the upper right orner to update the list.
If the wireless network you are onne ting is en rypted, you’ll be prompted to enter the key.

iBall Baton Wireless Utilit
When you are installing the driver, sele t “Install driver and IBall Baton WLAN Config Tool” and
the adapter driver and lient utility will be installed. All fun tions of this adapter an be onfigured
via IBall Baton’s utility interfa e (in the following text it is abbreviated as UI).
Sele t “Start”-“All Programs” -“IBall Baton Wireless”- IBall Baton Wireless Utility”, or li k the
“IBall Baton Wireless Utilit ” short ut on your PC’s desktop to start the UI.
Station mode (Client Mode)
Station mode (Client Mode) Overview
It is a ommon solution to use the wireless network adapter as a lient to re eive signals.
Main interface for station mode
The function buttons on the top (From L to R) are respectively Site Survey Link
Information Profile Advanced About Help and MiniSize. While the left column
displays Turn On/Off RF Security /No security and Signal status.

3.1.1 Available Networks
The “Available Networks” s reen displays urrently s anned wireless signals and you an li k
one to onne t the signal. Sele t one and you may view the AP’s MAC address, wireless mode
(B/G/N), authenti ation type, and en ryption type, or WPS authenti ation and signal strength.
Before you onne t to a wireless network, please li k the “Res an” button to update the
wireless network list and sele t the one you wish to onne t, then li k the “Conne t” i on.
For the networks that are not en rypted, you an dire tly li k “Conne t”. However, for
the en rypted wireless networks,a “Profile” dialog will pop up and you must sele t the
orresponding authenti ation type and en ryption type,and then li k the “Next” button to
input the orre t key.Please note that this type of onne tion will not reate a profile ,thus
next time onne t to this network you still need to sele t it manually.
The detailed explanations about the authenti ation and en ryption are as follows:
WEP:Supports 10/26-bit Hex hara ters and 5/13-bit ASCII.

WPA-PSK:Supports 8-63-bit ASCII and 8-64-bit Hex hara ters.
WPA2-PSK:Supports 8-63-bit ASCII and 8-64-bit Hex hara ters.
WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK:Supports 8-63-bit ASCII and 8-64 -bit hex hara ters.
NOTE:
The Hex hara ters onsist of numbers 0~9 and letters a-f.
ASCII hara ters onsist of any letters and hara ters.
3.1.2 Link Information
After su essfully onne ted to one wireless network, you an view its detailed
information by li king the “Link Information” on the main interfa e.
“Link Status” s reen displays the detailed information of the onne ted AP in luding its
SSID,MAC address, authenti ation type, en ryption type, network type and hannel.
2. “Throughput” s reen displays the signal strength of ea h of the wireless adapter’s
antennas and the link quality.
3.”Statisti s” s reen is used to ount the total Rx and Tx data pa kets, in luding
transmitted,retransmitted and fail to re eive ACK after all retries.You an li k the “Reset
Counter” button to lear the ount.

3.1.3 Profile Settings
Ex ept the above ommon onne tion type, you an also onne t to the wireless
network by adding a profile on the “Profile Settings“s reen.The “Profile Settings” s reen is
used to save the wireless network parameters. When the adapter is su essfully onne ted
to a network, the profile name of this network will automati ally be added here, whi h helps
the adapter to qui kly onne t to the wireless network next time. However, there’s one
ex eption that when you have set the hidden SSID,namely the SSID an not be
s anned,then you must manually onne t by adding the profile name.The main interfa e is
as shown below.
Add: reate a new profile
Delete: delete the existing profile
Edit: modify the existing profile
Add WPS Profile: WPS setting requires that the onne ting wireless devi e
support WPS fun tion. WPS helps you to fulfill wireless en ryption fast as well as se ure
your wireless network. For detailed setting steps, refer to appendix2.
There are two network types for your option when li king the “Add” button to add wireless
adapter onne tion: Infrastru ture and Ad-Ho .

Infrastru ture is an appli ation mode that integrates the wired and wireless LAN
ar hite tures. It is different from Ad-Ho in that in this mode the omputer installed with the
wireless network adapter has to fulfill the wireless ommuni ation via AP or wireless router.
It an be devided into two modes:“wireless AP + wireless network adapter” and “wireless
router + wireless network adapter”.
Ad-Ho is a spe ial wireless mobile network appli ation mode. All nodes in the network
are equal.Usually it is used to share resour es by onne ting the opposing omputer’s
wireless adapter.
1. Infrastructure Profile Management
When you are onne ting the wireless adapter to an AP or a wireless router, please
sele t the Infrastru ture mode.
Cli k the “Add”button and sele t the network type as”
Infrastru ture”,and enter the profile name and SSID or you an find the SSID you wish
to onne t from the drop-down list.

Cli k the next button to sele t the authenti ation type and en ryption type su h as
WPA-PSK and AES, and then input the key and li k next.
After a profile is su essfully added, the profile name an be seen on the profile
list,you an edit , import or export the profile, li k “A tive” to finish the onne tion,now you
an also view the detailed onne tion status on the “Link Information”s reen.
