Chapter 1Product Information
1.1 General Information
The WS-855 series workstations take advantagesof modern flat-panel displays, CPU
board, power supply and passive backplane for minimum size. It is an IBM PC/AT
compatible computer specially designed to meet the applications for Industrial.
LCD Display
WS-855 is equipped with a color 1024x768 resolution 15" TFT LCD.
LCD Interface
Direct connect to ICP main board’s LVDS-02 Module
Versatile Passive Backplane
WS-855 can be equipped with PCI-10S (standard), BP-10S, IP-10S or PX-10S 10-slot
backplane.
Sealed-membrane accessible keypad
The sealed-membrane keypad has 59 data keys including 10 function keys to allow
users enter data directly. Users also can attach the external keyboard through a
connector on the front panel of WS-855.
Power Switch and Display Switch
The Power switch and Display switch are protected by the front lockable drive door.
Optional Touch Screen
Touch Screen: Analog resistive type with RS-232 interface controller.
Power Supply
WS-855 is equipped with ACE-925A, 250 W industrial power supply.
Optional Power Supplies are:
ACE-925T/932T/828T –48VDC input
ACE-925C/828C +24VDC input
ACE-916V +12VDC input

1.4 Front Accessible CD-ROM, 3.5" FDD
WS-855 workstation is equipped with one CD-ROM and 3.5" FDD that can be
accessible by opening the front lockable drive door as the following diagram shown.
Power ON/OFF switch, Brightness adjustment and Display ON/OFF switch are also
accessible by opening this front lockable drive door.

1.5 The Membrane Keypad
The sealed-membrane keypad has 59 keys including 10 function keysto allow users
enter data directly. Users also can attach the external keyboard through a connector on
the front panel of WS-855. A built-in controller will merge the signals from the
membrane keypad and general keyboard into one signal, which acts as a standard
IBM PC/AT keyboard.

The WS-855 15" TFT LCD 10-slot workstation is very easy to set up for operation.
All you have to do is to open the back cover, install your CPU card, display control
card, hard disk drive and other I/O cards required by your application, and you are
ready to mount into a 19" rack or within a panel and start to operate.
2.1 Adding Cards
Before installing the cards, the rear cover should be removed first by releasing the
screws as the diagram below shown. Then, users can slowly slide the card in and
carefully press it into the slot of backplane, then take advantages of clamps as the
diagram shown to fix your cards.
2.2 Disk Drives installation
WS-855 is equipped one 5.25" Drive CD-ROM, one 3.5" FDD and one 3.5" HDD

which should be installed from the rear of chassis. Users ought to take advantages of
clamps to fix CD-ROM, HDD and HDD as the diagrams shown.
2.3 Power Supply Installation
ACE-925A, industrial power supply is equipped at the rear of this workstation.It is
fastened with power supply bracket by 4 screws as the diagram below shown.

2.4 Cooling Fan Installation
WS-855 is equipped with a 12 cm ball bearing cooling fan with removable fan filter
by the side of workstation. The following diagram shows the detailsof fan and its
accessories.

2.5 Panel Mounting
WS-855 can be mounted within a panel as the diagram below shown. Please make
sure the dimensions of the case within panel aperture so that your screw holes line up
with the mounting bolts on the flange of WS-855.

2.6 Rack Mounting
WS-855 not only be mounted within a panel but also can be mounted in a 19" Rack.
The following diagram shows how to mount WS-855 into the 19" Rack.

Chapter 3 Maintenance
There are some essential parts you need to know during the operation for the purpose
of maintenance or upgrading.

3.1 Power Supply
Users please refer to the diagram of section 2.3 to unfasten the four screws so as to
take it out for maintenance or upgrading.
3.2 Cooling Fan
WS-855 is equipped with 12 cm cooling fan with removable fan filter by the side of
workstation. Please refer to the diagram of section 2.4. You have to open the chassis
and unfasten the four bolt kits to take fan out for maintenance.
The filter is suggested being replaced or cleaned at suitable time that depends on the
working environment.
3.3 Disk Drives
WS-855 is equipped with one 5.25" CD-ROM, one 3.5" FDD and one 3.5" HDD.
Please refer to the diagram of section 2.2 to uninstall 5.25" CD-ROM, 3.5" HDD and
3.5" FDD.
Appendix A Exploded Diagram
Warning: Whenever you need to take off
a part for either maintenance or
upgrading purpose, you should switch off the power supply and unplug the
power cord first.
Warning: Do not use the wet filter to filter out the dirt.
