IDA Plug 'N' Go 4 User manual

1. QUICK START PAIRING
PNG-4 Si can be paired using either the headset or handsfree profile according to each phone’s software.
1. The first step is to charge your PNG-4 Si. Plug the in-car charger (supplied) into the charge
socket on the side of the unit (see section 2). You can use it while it is charging.
2. The next step is to activate Bluetooth from your phone’s menu (see your handset manual,
check which profile your phone uses; handsfree or headset).
3. When Bluetooth is active, put the PNG-4 Si. into pairing mode. Press and hold the red button
for 2 or 3 seconds until you hear a beep. Release the red button and the blue LED will flash
slowly. The handsfree is now ready to pair under the handsfree profile.
For best results, the handsfree profile from your phone menu should be selected and activated
before you attempt to pair the devices. Please refer to your phone’s user manual for further
information on how to activate handsfree profile.
For optimum results, pairing should be carried out with the PNG-4 Si in handsfree mode. When
pairing your phone to the unit, press and hold the red button until you hear a beep. The blue led
will flash slowly indicating that the PNG-4 SI is now in handsfree pairing mode.
Please note that if pairing is not successful under the handsfree profile, the software in your
phone may require the headset pairing mode to be used. In this case press and hold the red
button once until you hear a beep. The led will flash slowly. Press and hold the red button a
second time until you hear a further beep. The led will then flash quickly indicating that the PNG-
4 Si is in headset pairing mode.
Please refer to your phone’s user manual for further information on selecting headset profile.
4. To pair with some phones, the handsfree needs to pair under the headset profile. Press and
hold the red button again for 2 – 3 seconds until you hear another beep, and the blue LED
flashes faster. The handsfree is now ready to pair under the headset profile.
5. When you pair the PNG-4 Si. unit with your phone, it will show in the phone’s Bluetooth
menu as PAMA-BT8. When prompted, enter the password 8888 in your phone’s menu. Subse-
quently, all connections between your phone and the unit are automatically established when
both devices are within a few metres range of each other.
Recommendation: If you experience any problems in pairing or reconnecting the devices, turn
both the phone and the PNG-4 Si. off and on again (Reboot).
For phone-specific instructions refer to the Pama website www.pama.com
2. Charging & low battery warning
The initial charge for the PNG-4 Si. should be at least 8 hours, this will give sufficient charge to last 3 to 5
days, dependent on usage. If the unit becomes low on charge, the audio quality on calls will noticeably
deteriorate and the green LED will start to flash orange when in use. Charge the unit with the in-car charger
(supplied). If you use the unit outside the vehicle (in your home or office) you may use the AC/Mains
charger (supplied) .
Recommendation: Time between charging can be considerably extended if the unit is turned off
when not in use
3. Usage Instructions
Safety Notice: Make sure your vision of the road is not obscured in any way.
Slide the on/off switch on the left-hand side, towards you to turn on the unit. To adjust the volume, set the
rotary control in front of the on-off switch to roughly halfway, then when on a call adjust as required.
Do not obstruct the microphone at the front of the unit.
Always ensure the phone has Bluetooth active and is in auto-receive mode (connect without authorisation
or always receive).
Receiving a call
Either; set your phone to auto answer (consult your phone manual), or when the unit starts to ring press the
green button on the PNG-4 Si to answer the call.
Ending a call
If your phone is paired under the handsfree profile, press the red button to end the call. If your phone is
paired under the headset profile, press the green button to end the call.
Making a call
Either; use the phone keypad or, if your phone supports the voice dial feature, press and hold the green
button on the unit until you hear a beep. Wait for a second beep from the phone, signalling that it is ready to
accept a voice dial (this may take up to 10 seconds), say the voice tag as you recorded it. If the voice tag is
recognised it will be repeated back to you and the phone will dial the number. If it is not recognised you will
hear a two tone beep, or the blue light will go out.
Voice Recognition
If your phone supports this feature you can use voice tags to call your contacts by speaking their name
(voice dialling). Phones use a speaker-dependent technology that requires you to train the names prior to
using them as voice-activated short-cuts.
Recommendation: When training a name, close doors and windows, turn off all sources of noise:
engine, fans, radio etc., your voice is sampled and recorded for about 2 - 3 seconds from the time
the phone picks up the signal. It is much better to provide the system with longer names to process.
For instance, training “Bob Smith” will yield much better results than just “Bob”.
Refer to your phone’s manual for the detailed procedure on how to voice tag.
Re-Dialling
With phones paired under the handsfree profile, pressing the green button twice in quick succession will
dial the last number called.

Safety Notice: Check local laws regarding the use of handsfree equipment whilst driving. If you use
the product while driving ensure that your attention and focus remain on your primary responsibil-
ity which is driving safely.

1. Only use the battery pack supplied with the unit.
2. Do not dispose of the unit or the battery in a fire, it may explode. Check with local regulations
on battery recycling and disposal.
3. Do not open or mutilate the battery pack, it contains electrolyte that is corrosive and may
cause damage to the skin and eyes and is toxic if swallowed.
4. Always remove the charger before opening the battery compartment.

2. If the unit becomes excessively hot during charging, disconnect the charger and contact
qualified service personnel.
3. Do not charge the unit in damp areas.

1. Never submerge the unit in water or other liquids.
2. Protect the unit from spills, rain and wet locations.
3. Do not use solvent or aerosol cleaners as this may damage the unit.
4. Use a dry cloth to clean the unit.
Recommendation: On leaving the car do not leave the unit on the dashboard in direct sunlight as
excessive heat may build up and damage the unit, also it may become a target for thieves.
