Region codes
Both the Blu-ray Disc player and the discs
are coded by region. These regional codes
must match in order to play the disc. If the
codes do not match, the disc will not play.
The Region Number for this Blu-ray Disc
player is described on the rear panel of the
Blu-ray Disc player.

Watch high-denition content disc with
HDTV (High Denition Television). Connect
it through a high speed HDMI cable (1.3
or category 2). You can enjoy excellent
picture quality up to 1080p resolution with
the frame rate of 24 frames per second with

3 Preparation
Always follow the instructions in this chapter
in sequence.
Note:
Use of controls or adjustments or
performance of procedures other than
herein may result in hazardous radiation
exposure or other unsafe operation.
Prepare the remote control
Open the battery compartment.1. Insert two R03 batteries with correct2. polarity (+/-) as indicated.
Close the battery compartment.3.
Notes:
If you are not going to use the remote
control for a long time, remove the
batteries.
Do not use old and new or different
types of batteries in combination.
Risk of explosion! Keep batteries away
from heat, sunshine or re. Never
discard batteries in re.
The maximum operable ranges from the•

4 Connection
Make the following connection to use this
product.
Connecting to a TV
Connect the product to TV to view disc play.
Select the best video connection that TV can
support:
Connect to the HDMI connector
This type of connection provides better
picture quality.

Connect a HDMI cable from the HDMI output
connector on this product to the HDMI input
connector on the TV.
Notes:
Recommend to connect to HDMI ARC
connector on TV if available.
If the TV has a DVI connector only,
connect via an HDMI/DVI adapter. You
can enjoy the picture from DVI and the
sound from the speaker.
You can optimize the video output, in
SETUP menu, select [PICTURE] > [TV]
> [Resolution], and then press left/right
cursor button on remote control to select
the best resolution the TV can support.
Aux in connection
Connect to an analogue stereo system
SPK_R8
AUDIO OUT
TV or other device.

Connect the audio cable from the analogue
AUX IN connectors on this product to the
audio OUT connectors on the TV or other
device. After aux in connected, you should
press SOURCE button on the remote control
to switch to the aux in mode.
Connect USB device
A USB device provides an additional memory
to software upgrade and enjoy BD-Live
bonus content.
Connect the USB Flash device to the USB
connector on this product.
Notes:
When connect a USB Flash device, press
TEXT/MEDIA CENTER on remote control
to select USB to play.
Connect a USB Flash device only to the
USB connector on this product.
When you enjoy BD-live bonus content,
as your local storage, use a 1 GB or
larger USB memory.
Connect media player
Media player
Connect an media player (such as MP3
player/CD player) to the AUDIO IN
connector. After media player connected,
you should press SOURCE button on the
remote control to switch to the audio in
mode.
Connect the speakers
Connect the speaker cables from the right
speakers to the SPK_R connectors on the
rear panel of the player.
Note:
Match the + and - marks on the
connectors when connecting the speaker
cables.
Connect the wireless subwoofer
Connect the power cable from the player1. to the wall socket and press power key
to power on.
Connect the power cable from the2. wireless subwoofer to the wall socket.
The standby indicator will light slightly.
Press the MENU button on the remote3. control, and press 1, 2, 3 and 4. Text
"Sub Check ID" displays on the display
panel of the player and the standby
indicator on the subwoofer ashes.
Press and hold the4. (ID learn) button
on the back of the subwoofer for 3
seconds. The standby indicator will light
if the subwoofer is connected to the
player successfully.
Notes:
If devices such as micro-wave oven,
wireless network card or bluetooth
device, or any other devices that use
the same frequency (2.4GHz) are used
near the system, snatchy sound may be
heard due to interference.
The transmission distance of wireless
electric wave is about 10m, but may vary
according to the operation condition.
If there is reinforced concrete wall or
metal wall between the main unit and the
wireless subwoofer, they may connect
unsuccessfully because wireless electric
wave cannot penetrate through the metal.
Do not place the subwoofer upside
down, otherwise objects may fall into the
subwoofer from the hole at the bottom
side and touch electric parts.
Do not touch the cloth on the front of
the subwoofer with any objects to avoid
damage.
The product is ready to be set up for use.•
Notes:
Before connecting the AC power cord,
ensure you have completed all other
connections.

5 Use your home theatre
This section helps you use the home theatre
to play media from a wide range of sources.
Before you start
Make the necessary connections.•
Switch the TV to the correct source for•
the home theatre.
Note:
Make sure your TV has HDMI ARC
function to send sound from TV to sound
system.
Discs
Your home theatre can play DVDs, VCDs,
CDs and Blu-ray discs. It can also play discs
that you’ve made at home, such as CD-R
discs of photos and music.
What you need
Audio and video connection between•
your home theatre and the TV.
An audio or a video disc.•
Play discs
Insert a disc into the home theatre.1. » Your TV switches to the correct source
and the disc plays automatically.
If the disc does not play automatically,2. please check whether the play
automatically option in setup menu is
ON or not and make sure that your BD
sound system is switched to the DISC
mode.
Press the play buttons to control play.3.
Bonus View on Blu-ray
On Blu-ray discs that support the Bonus
View, enjoy extra content, such as a
director’s commentary, while you watch the
main feature.
Bonus View is also known as picture-in-
picture.
Enable Bonus View (picture-in-picture) in1. the Blu-ray disc menu.
While the main feature is playing, press2. OPTION.
» The options menu is displayed.
Select [Second Video] > [ON/OFF], and3. then press OK.
» Depending on the video, PIP option [1]
or [2] is displayed.
» The picture-in-picture video is
displayed in a small window.
Select the language, and then press OK.4.
USB storage devices
Enjoy pictures, audio and video on a USB
storage device.
What you need
A USB storage device that is formatted•
for FAT or NTFS le systems and
complies with the Mass Storage Class.
A USB extension cable, if the USB•
storage device does not t into the
connector.
Note:
You can use digital cameras connected
by USB if they can play the les without
using a special computer program.
To play DivX DRM - protected les from
a USB storage device, connect your
home theatre to a TV through an HDMI
cable.

VOD code for DivX
Before you purchase DivX videos and play
them on your home theatre, register the
home theatre on www.divx.com using the
DivX VOD code.
Press [Menu], and then press OK.1. Select [Setup] > [Playback] > [DivX2. ®
VOD DRM], and then press OK.

Subtitles
If your video has subtitles in multiple
languages, select a subtitle language.
While playing video, press SUBT to select a
language.
Note:
Make sure that the subtitle le has
the same name as the video le. For
example, if the video le is called
‘movie.avi’, save the subtitle le as
‘movie.srt’ or ‘movie.sub’.
Your home theatre can play subtitle les
in the following formats: .srt, .sub, .txt,
.ssa, .ass, smi and .sami. These les do
not appear in the le navigation menu.

Use advanced features when you play video
les from a disc or a USB storage device.
While watching video, select options such as
subtitles, audio language, time search and
picture settings. Depending on the video
source, some options are not available.
Press OPTION.1. » The video options menu is displayed.
Press the navigation buttons and OK to2. select and change:
[Title] : Select a specic title.•
[Chapter] : Select a specic chapter.•
[Time] : View the elapsed/remaining•
playback time of title/chapter.
[Audio] : Select audio language for•

Cannot nd a

MP3 le. Make sure that the selected folder does not contain more than
9,999 les for DVD, and 999 les for CD.
Make sure that the le extension is .mp3 or .MP3.
Cannot upgrade•
software When you upgrade the system with USB ash device, you should
make a new folder named upg, and copy the upgrade le into
this folder.
The USB ash

Use USB ash device corresponding to the Mass Storage Class
Driver.
Sometimes the

options of setup
menu cannot be
selected.
When playing a DVD disc or BD disc, press STOP button once,
the player will go into stop resume mode, meanwhile you cannot
change some settings in setup menu such as language subitem
menu, audio, subtitle etc. If you want to change that, press
STOP button twice, the player will go into full stop mode, then
you can do it.

8 Glossary
Aspect ratio
Aspect ratio refers to the length to height
ratio of TV screens. The ratio of a standard
TV is 4:3, while the ratio of a high-denition
or wide TV is 16:9. The letter box allows you
to enjoy a picture with a wider perspective
on a standard 4:3 screen.
Blu-ray Disc (BD)
Blu-ray Disc is a next generation optical
video disc capable of storing ve times more
data than a conventional DVD. The large
capacity makes it possible to benet from
the features such as high-denition videos,
multichannel surround sound, interactive
menus and so on.
BONUSVIEWTM
This is a BD-Video (Final Standard Prole
or Prole 1.1) that supports interactive
content encoded on the disc, such as
picture-in-picture. This means you can play
the primary video and secondary video
simultaneously.
Digital Audio
Digital Audio is a sound signal that has been
converted into numerical values. Digital
sound can be transmitted through multiple
channels. Analogue sound can only be
transmitted through two channels.
DivX®
DivX®is a codec (compression/
decompression) that can compress images
to a very small amount of data.
DivX Certied®to play DivX®video,
including premium content.
ABOUT DIVX VIDEO: DivX ®is a digital
video format created by DivX, Inc. This

A disc encoded with DTS-HD Master Audio
delivers ALL of the information from the
original master recording — bit-for-bit, it's
identical to what the sound engineers laid

DTS Coherent Acoustics format.

High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection.
This is a specication that provides a secure
transmission of digital contents between
different devices (to prevent unauthorized
copyright.)
HDMI®
High-Denition Multimedia Interface (HDMI)
is a high-speed digital interface that can
transmit uncompressed high denition video
and digital multichannel audio. It delivers
high quality picture and sound quality. HDMI

is fully backward-compatible with DVI. As
required by the HDMI standard, connecting
to HDMI or DVI products without HDCP
(High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection)
will result in no Video or Audio output.
JPEG
A very common digital still picture format.
A still-picture data compression system
proposed by the Joint Photographic Expert
Group, which features small decrease
in image quality in spite of its high
compression ratio. Files are recognized by
their le extension ‘.jpg’ or ‘.jpeg’.
MP3
A le format with a sound data compression
system. MP3 is the abbreviation of Motion
Picture Experts Group 1 (or MPEG-1) Audio
Layer 3. With the MP3 format, one CD-R or
CD-RW can contain about 10 times more
data than a regular CD.
PBC
Playback Control. A system where you
navigate through a Video CD/Super VCD
with on-screen menus that are recorded
onto the disc. You can enjoy interactive
playback and search.
PCM
Pulse Code Modulation. A digital audio
encoding system.
Region code
A system that allows discs to be played
only in the region designated. This unit only
plays discs that have compatible region
codes. You can nd the region code of your
unit on the product label. Some discs are
compatible with more than one region (or
ALL regions.)
