instructionmanualmustbegiventotheownerwheninstallationiscomplete.
Makesuretostorethismanualforlateruse.
Readthroughtheinstructionsbeforeinstallation:
 Whenchoosingthelocationforthestove,checkthesafetydistancestoinflammable
materials.
 Checktheweightbearingcapacityoftheflooraswellastheconnectiontothechimney
(whetheryouneedastraightoranangledconnectorpipe),ortheinstallationroutefora
newchimneypipe,ifneeded.
 Alllocalregulationsmustbecompliedwithduringinstallation,includingthoserelatingto
localorEU‐levelstandards.
NOTE!
Beware of the sharp edges of the mesh frame and other parts. Always wear
protective gloves and a long‐sleeved shirt when handling the mesh frame and
pilinginstones.

Coveringthestoveduringuseorwhenitishotisstrictlyprohibited.
Throwingseawateronthestonesisprohibitedandwillcausethewarrantytobecomevoid
andmaycauseearlycorrosion.
Bewareoftheblastconnection,hatch,orothermetalsurfacesofthestoveandthestones,
THEYMAYBEHOT!Alwayswearprotectivegloves,etc.
Beextracautiouswhenusingthestovewhenchildrenarepresent!
Bewareofthesharpedgesofthemeshframeandotherparts.Alwayswearprotectivegloves
andalong‐sleevedshirtwhenhandlingthemeshframeandpilinginstones.
Inadditiontothisinstruction,theEUheaterstandard15821,localfirerescueauthority’srules
andregulationsmustbetakenintoaccountwheninstallingandusingthestove.
Thewarrantydoesnotcoverproblemscausedbyfaultyinstallationandimproperuse.
NOTE!Thehatchinthestovemaydiscolourafterfrequentuseandthepaintmayshowsignsof
wear.Itispossibletoapplyanewcoatofpaint(600‐degreeheatresistantpaint).Beforepainting,
thehatchmustbecleanedwithdegreaserandthesurfacesmoothed.



2.2Preparationforuse

 Preparatoryburn:Lightafireinthestoveoncebeforelayingthestonesandbathing,in
ordertogetridofanypotentiallyharmfulresiduefromprotectivecoatingsoroilonthe
steelsurfaces.Thisshouldbedoneoutsideorinawell‐ventilatedspace.
 Itisrecommendedthatadamperisinstalledintothechimneytoallowdraughttobe
adjusted.Thereisalsoasmallknobonthehatchthatallowsairflowtoberegulated.
 Inafullironhatch,movetheknobuptoopenitanddowntoshut.Inaglasshatchthe
knobismovedtotherighttoopenandtothelefttoshutit.
 Inordinaryuse,olivine‐doleritestonessmallerthan10cmindiameter,arerecommended.
Thestonesshouldbelaidcarefullytoallowmaximumairflow.
 Keepingflammableliquidsormaterialsnearthestoveisstrictlyforbidden.
 Thefireauthoritiesmustbenotifiedofallsootfires,eveniftheyhavebeenexhausted.
 Inprivatesaunasinrecreationalorotherwiseinfrequentuse,thechimneysmustbeswept
everythreeyears.
 Inprivateorsharedsaunasinregularandfrequentuse,thechimneysmustbesweptyearly.
 Thefrequencywithwhichthestonesrequirereplacingdependsontheuserate.Forexample,
inprivate‐usesaunas,thestonesclosesttothefurnaceshouldbecheckedandreplaced,if
needed,everysecondyear.Insharedandfrequentlyusedsaunas,moreoften.

2.4 Reductionofsafetydistances

 Safetydistancecanbecutdownby50%whenusingsimpleprotection(i.e.1mmmetal/fibre
boardanda30mmairgap)
 Safetydistancecanbecutdownby75%whenusingdoubleprotection(doubleprotection
boardandairgap)

ATTN!Inthe“Plus”modelstoves,wherethesmokepipeisalsocoveredbystones,thesafety
distancesarereducedby50%comparedtoplain,uncoveredsmokepipes.
2.5 Protectivebaseforthestove

Ifthestoveistobeinstalledonaninflammablefloorsurface(e.g.woodenflooring)aprotective
basemustbelaidunderthestove.Theprotectivebasemustbemadefromfireproofmaterialand
haveanairgap,suchasthestainlesssteelprotectivebasefromIKIKiuas.
Thesizeandshapeoftheprotectivebasemustadheretothesafetyregulationsforthestove.
Notethattheprotectivebaseshouldalsoextendtocoverthefloorareainfrontofthefurnace’s
hatch.
Thesafetydistanceof50cmmeasureddiagonallyfromthefurnacetothefloorinthefrontofthe
stovecanbereducedbyhalfifastainlesssteelprotectivebasewitha3‐cmairgapisused.
Theprotectivebaseaddsapprox.65mmtotheheightofthestove.Thisshouldbefactoredin
whencalculatingthechimneyorfurnaceconnectingpipes.







2.6 Chimneyconnectionheight
Thechimneyconnectionheightforthestovesiscalculatedfromthefloor,withoutabase,tothe
centreofthechimneypipe,whenthefurnacestandsonitssupportlegs.(TheIKIstainlesssteel
protectivebaseaddsapprox.67mmtotheheight).Theouterdiameterofthechimneyconnection
pipeis115mminallIKIstoves.


2.7 Chimneyconnectiononnon‐standardheights(Plusmodelstoves)
ForthePlusmodelstoves,therearetwoalternativesforchimneyconnection:

 Theuppermeshframecanbepuncturedatrequiredheighttoconnecttoandexisting
chimneypipe(i.e90degreepipe).
 Thelengthofthestraightconnectionpipecanbecutdowntorequiredlength
 Theangledpipecanbeledthroughtheholeinmeshframeandconnectedtothechimney
pipe.(Inthiscase,thestonesabovethepipeintheuppermeshframewillnotheatupand
youwilllosesomeofthestove’sheatingpower)
OR:
 Theuppermeshframecanbeshortenedfromthebottomalongwiththestraightpipeto
decreasetheheightoftheentirestructure.

3. VENTILATIONANDCOMPENSATIONAIR

Awood‐burningstoveneedssufficientincomeofairtoburnwell.Thebathersinthesaunaroom
alsorequireoxygen‐richairforbreathing.Well‐functioningventilationisalsorequiredtodrythe
saunaroomproperlyafterbathing.Thereareseveralventilationsystemsavailablefromvarious
manufacturers,thesuitabilitydependsmainlyonthesaunaroomstructure.
3.1 Gravity‐assistedventilationssystem(Illustration4.1)

Theairtofeedthefiremustbeledfromoutsidethesauna,usingapipeequippedwitha50‐100
mmgrateandadiscvalve,anddirectedeithertothesideofthestoveortofloorbesidethestove
(forexamplea50‐100mmpipeat50‐100mmheightfromthefloor).
Freshairforbreathingcanbedirectedbesidethestove,forexamplewitha100‐mmpipe,at
50‐100mmheight,abovethestove’sstonebase.
Exhaustairisledoutofthesaunapreferablythroughaholeequippedwithadiscvalveandan
adjustablegrid,placedbetweenthelowerandupperbenches.Theairshouldflowthrougha
metal‐linedchannelbuiltinsidethewallandexitjustbelowtheroof.Theexhaustairvalvecan
alsobeintheceilingorclosetotheceilingonthewalloppositethestove.
Freshairforthestoveandforbreathingcanalsobeledinthroughavalveinthedoor,oragab
belowit.Ifthedoorleadstoadressingroom,properventilationofthespacemustbeensured.Air
shouldbeallowedtoflowinquitefreelyduringbathinganddryingoftheroom.Makesuretheair
inletsdonotgetobstructed.
Asthelitstoveheatstheair,itrotatesinsidethesaunaroomandmovesupward.Freshairis
suckedinsidefromtheairinletsnearthefloorandexpelledfromtheoutletsbesidethebenches
orhighupintheceiling.
3.2 Machine‐assistedventilation

Inmachineassistedventilation,thecirculationofairandventilationoftheroomismademore
efficient,buttheairflowprinciplesandinletandoutlocationsarethesameasinGravityassisted.
3.3 Chimneyventilatorandmorethanonefurnace

 Achimneyventilatorisnotrecommendedwithwood‐burningsaunastoves.Thehigh
temperaturesofthecombustiongasesmaybreaktheventilator.
 Ifthereisneedformorethanonefurnaceinthesauna,combustiongasfromeachfurnace
mustbedirectedtoseparateexhaustduct.Forexample,acauldronandstovecombination
requiresa2‐passagechimney.
 Theairinletsmustbemeasuredaspersituation(capacityfortwofurnaces,adjustable
valvefortheamountofair).

5.1 Illustratedinstructions

1. Checkthatallthepartsbelongingtothestoveare
includedinthedelivery.Thehatchinaseparatebox,
theashspatulaandthegrateaswellasanaccessory
boxcontaining:2“installationstones”,thefireplate,
glovesandthehingeforthehatch.
2. Punctureahole,minimumof340‐mmindiameter,
throughthewallatapprox.95mmheight.Ifyouare
usingaplatform,suchastheprotectivebase,below
thestove,measurethecorrectheightofthehole
accordingly.

3. Placethefurnaceonasolidfireproofbaseontop
ofthetwostonesandthroughtheholeinthe
wall.Thewallcanbeupto.300mmwide.
4. Lowerdownthemeshframeandfititaroundthe
furnace.

5. Attachthemeshframetothefrontfacewithtwo
bolts.
6. Attachthehingetothefurnace(A.)witha13‐
mmwrench.Installthefireplate(B.)toprevent
cindersfromfallingtothefloorandtoguideair.

7. Undotheboltinthehinge(17‐mmwrench)and
attachthehatchandsecureinplace.
8. Checkthatthefurnaceishorizontallylevelled.
Whenthehatchisopen,itmustleanback
securelyandnotfalldownonitsown.Attachthe
chimneyconnectingpipetothefurnace.


5.2 InstallationoftheuppermeshframeforPLUSmodelstoves

Asthestoveconsistsofaseparatefurnace,2smokepipesandtwoseparateframes,the
installationisdoneinphasesasfollows:
1. Installthelowerpartofthestoveasinstructedabove(inchapter5.1).
2. Adjustthesmokepipeandtheuppermeshwiththechimneypipe.Iftheconnectionisnon‐
standard,useasuitablesidecuttertoshortenthepipeandmesh.
3. Pilethestonestothelowerpartofthestove.Thestonesarelaidononeatatimebetween
theuppermeshframeandthesmokepipe.Trytocoverthesmokepipeaswellaspossible.
Themeshframesettlesinitsplacewhenapproximately10cmofstoneshavebeenloaded
in.Werecommendatleasttwopeopleworktogethertoinstalltheuppermeshframe.




5.3 Pilingthestonesthestones

Washthestones,ifneeded.Checkthestove’spositioningcomplieswithsafetydistancesand
thatthemeshframeissecurelyfasted.
The space between the mesh frame and the furnace must be filledaccurately,sothatthe
stonescoverthefurnaceallaround.Makesureyouhavestonesunderneaththefurnace,as
well.Coverthestovefurnacewithstonessothatthewholefurnaceistotallycovered,since
thedirectheatradiationfromtheuncoveredstovebodycancausethesurroundingstructures
toheatuptodangeroustemperaturesevenoutsidethesafetydistances.
Fornormaluse,werecommend theuseofolivine,peridotite, olivine‐doleritestonessmaller
than10cmindiameter.Thestonesshouldnotbeplacedtootightly,allowingforfreeairflow
betweenthestones.Ifthestoveisinfrequentuse,(publicbaths etc.), we recommend
KERKES‐ceramicsaunastones(www.kerkes.fi)onthesurfacesthattouchdirectlytheheartofthe
stove.
NOTE: The surface of the stones will descend in time, when heated regularly. The change
frequency for the stones depends on the quality of the stones andtheuserate.Checkthe
condition of the stones each year; when necessary, remove the broken stones and replace
themwithnewones.
6. INSTRUCTIONSFORUSE

HeatinganIKIstovetakesfromonehourtoanhourandahalf,dependingonthesizeofthesauna
roomandthestove.TherecommendedbathingtemperaturefortheIKIstovesisapproximately
55‐70degrees.
6.1 Operationalinstructions
 Itisrecommendedthatthefireissettothetopofthepile,whichdecreases
emissions,butrequiresdrywoodandtakesalittlebitlonger.
 Thewoodintendedforuseshouldbebroughtinsidethedaybeforetoallowittodry,
especiallyinwintertime.
 Useonlynatural,untreatedwoodcuttoappropriatesize.
 Donotusefueloraccelerants,woodthathasveryhighburningtemperature,suchas
chipboard,plastics,coal,paintedorotherwisesurface‐treatedwoods,orwasteincl.plastics,
leather,textiles,rubberordisposablenappies,compost,etc.
 Cleantheashesandremnantsofprevioususefromthefurnace.
 Openthedamperofthechimneyandtheknobonthestovehatchtogetagoodflowofair.
 Lightthefireonthetopofthewoodpile,forexamplewithalighterpiece,cardboard
packages,birchbarkorchoppedfirewood.
 Inanironhatchtheregulationofairisdonebymovingtheknobuptoopenanddownto
shut.Inaroundglasshatchthemovetheknobtotherighttoopenandtothelefttoshut.
 NOTE!Werecommendtheuseoftheinstallationgloveswhenadjustingairflow.
 Keepthehatchclosedatalltimes,apartfromignition,addingwoodandcleaning
thefurnace,tominimisesmoke.

7. WARRANTY

IKI‐KiuasLtd.grants itsproductsa warrantyaccordingto thefollowing conditions.Themanufacturerguaranteesthe qualityand
functionalityofitsproductsforthedurationofthewarrantyperiod.ThewarrantyappliestoproductssoldandinusewithintheEU.
Thewarrantyrequiresthatthebuyeroftheproductfollowsthemanufacturer’sinstructionsregardingthepositioningofthestove,
itsinstallation,useandmaintenanceaswellasthoseregardingthequalitiesofthestones.Thewarrantydurationistwo(2)years
fromthedateofpurchase.Forspaandpublicsaunas,thewarrantyperiodisone(1)year,orisdeterminedbasedontherateof
usage.Moreinformationfromthemanufacturer.
Wood‐burningWarrantyissubjecttothefollowing:
1.Incaseofadefectormalfunction,alwayscontactthemanufacturerorsalesagentfirstbeforesearchingforthecauseor
attemptingtorepairit.
2.Theordinaryuse,thestonesmustbeexchangedatleastonceayearduringthewarrantyperiod.
3.Ininstitutionalandprofessionalusethestonesmustberesetthreetimesayearandreplacedatleastonceayear.Proofofthe
operationmustbepresentedatrequest.Proofofpurchase,receptiondocument,orsimilar,actsasguarantee.Ceramicstones
(exceptKERKESstones)areprohibitedandcausethewarrantytocease.
4.Warrantydoesnotcoverdismantlingandreassemblyofbenches,stoveorunloadingandreplacingofstones.
5.Thesparepartwarrantyisvalidforone(1)yearfromthedateofpurchase.Thereplacementpartwillbeshippedfreeofcharge
tothesellerorthebuyerdirectly.Themanufacturerisnotresponsiblefortheremovalandinstallationofthenewpart.Thebroken
part must be shipped back to the manufacturer at request and atthemanufacturer’sexpense.Contactthemanufacturerfor
contractofcarriagenumberbeforereturningthepart.Validguaranteeisthedealership'ssalesreceipt,oracertificateissuedbyan
authorizedinstaller.
6.WarrantyLimitationsofLiability:Theproductownermusttakegoodcareoftheproduct.Onreceivingtheproduct,itmustbe
checkedfordamagesduringtransportationandstorage.Incaseofsuchdamage,immediatelyinformtheselleroftheproductor
the shipping company. The manufacturer is not responsible for any errors, malfunctions, or defects caused by transport or by
improper storage, contrary to the manufacturer's instructions for installation, operation, maintenance, or failure to product
placementinastatewherethecircumstancesdonotmeetthemanufacturer'srecommendations.
7.Errorreporting: Thebuyermustnotify theseller ofanyerrorormalfunctionassoonasithasoccurred,andnolaterthan14
days.Notificationismadetotheselleroftheproduct.Issuescoveredbythewarrantymustbemadeknowntothesellernolater
than14daysfromexpirationofthewarrantyperiod.
8.Themanufacturer’sactionsinawarrantysituation–onthebasisofanappropriateWarrantyStatement,themanufacturerwill
repairorreplacethedefectiveproduct.Repairorreplacementisdoneattheexpenseofthemanufacturer.Themanufactureris
entitledtochoosethemostappropriateoptioninrelationtocostsandtime.Thesparepartwarrantyisdefinedinsection5above.
Replacedsparepartisgivenawarrantyinaccordancewithparagraph 5. The original product warranty remains otherwise
unchanged.Themanufacturerisnotliableforreimbursinganyexpenses,businesslossorotherdirectorindirectharmoccurredto
thebuyerfromdamagesormalfunction.
9.Thepackagingofreturnitemsistheresponsibilityof thesender.Productsmust bepackedcarefully, sothatthey donotget
damagedintransit.Theremustbeatleast5cmcushioningaroundtheproduct.IkikiuasLtdrecommendsthatyoualwaysusethe
originalproductpackaging;whichhasbeenspecificallydesignedtoensuresafedelivery.
10.IkikiuasLtdisnotresponsibleforcarelesslypackeditemsthathavebeendamagedduringtransportation.Costsaccruedfroma
clientsideerrorarepaidbythecustomer.IkikiuasLtdreservestheright torecoverthe costfromthecustomer,ifthecustomer
returnshavebeensubjectto,orbreachthecontract.Customerischargedforprocessingandshipping.
11. Quality guarantee: Ikikiuas Ltd guarantees the stainless‐steel components in private home use for 10 years. During the
warrantyperiodrawmaterialor manufacturingdefectswillbereplacedfreeofcharge.For example,throwingsaltwateronthe
heaterisnotallowed!
12.Thewarrantydoesnotcovernaturalstonecolourvariationsandcharacteristichairlinecracks,thatdonotaffectsafetyanduse.
13.Anyshipping‐relateddamagesmustbeenteredintothetransportdocument,whentheproductisreceived,orwithin7days
ofarrivalofgoodstotherecipient.Transportdamagemustalsobereportedtotheshippingcompany'slastknowncontact.The
damagedpartmustbestoredforlaterinspection.Theshippingcompany’sinsurancecompensatesthenewpartanditsshipment.
