There is nothing complicated a out operating and maintaining your Thermo
King unit, ut a few minutes studying this manual will e time well spent.
Performing pre-trip checks and enroute inspections on a regular asis will
minimize operating pro lems. A regular maintenance program will also help
to keep your unit in top operating condition. If factory recommended
procedures are followed, you will find that you have purchased the most
efficient and dependa le temperature control system availa le.
All service requirements, major and minor, should e handled y a Thermo
King dealer for four very important reasons:
• They are equipped with the factory recommended tools to perform all
service functions
• They have factory trained and certified technicians
• They have genuine Thermo King replacement parts
• The warranty on your new unit is valid only when the repair and
replacement of component parts is performed y an authorized Thermo
King dealer

Thermo King®recommends that all service e performed y a Thermo King
dealer and to e aware of several general safety practices.
Safety advisories appear throughout this manual as required. Your personal
safety and the proper operation of this unit depend upon the strict
o servance of these precautions.
Indicates an imminently hazardous situation which, if not
avoided, will result in death or serious injury.

General Safety Practices

Keep hands and loose clothing clear of fans and elts at all times when the
unit is operating with the doors open.
WWAARRNNIINNGG
RRiisskk ooff IInnjjuurryy!!
Do not apply heat to a closed cooling system. Before applying heat to a
cooling system, drain it. Then flush it with water and drain the water.
Antifreeze contains water and ethylene glycol. The ethylene glycol is
flamma le and can ignite if the antifreeze is heated enough to oil off the
water.

Exposed coil fins can cause lacerations. Service work on the evaporator or
condenser coils is est left to a certified Thermo King technician.
Automatic Start/Stop Operation

The unit can start and run automatically any time the unit is turned on. Turn
the Microprocessor On/Off switch Off efore doing inspections or working
on any part of the unit. Please note that only Qualified and Certified
personnel should attempt to service your Thermo King unit.
Electrical Hazard

Dangerous three phase AC electric power is present whenever the unit is
operating in either Diesel Mode or Electric Mode and whenever the unit is
connected to a source of external stand y power. Voltages of this
magnitude can e lethal. Exercise extreme caution when working on the
unit.
Battery Installation and Cable Routin

An improperly installed attery could result in a fire, explosion, or injury. A
Thermo King approved attery must e installed and properly secured to
the attery tray.

Improperly installed attery ca les could result in a fire, explosion, or
injury. Battery ca les must e installed, routed, and secured properly to
prevent them from ru ing, chaffing, or making contact with hot, sharp, or
rotating components.

Do not attach fuel lines to attery ca les or electrical harnesses. This has
the potential to cause a fire and could cause serious injury or death.

ignite or explode. A attery stores enough electricity to urn you if it
discharges quickly. A attery contains attery acid that can urn you.
Always wear goggles or safety glasses and personal protective equipment

Unit Description
Unit Overview
Thermo King Precedent multi-temperature refrigeration systems are
designed to control temperatures in two or three compartments (zones). The
system allows any compartment to e set at any temperature.
Precedent C-600M, S-600M, and S-610M host units are equipped with a
single evaporator that controls temperature in one compartment (Zone 1),
and a remote evaporator that controls temperature in another compartment
(Zone 2). A unit with three zones has additional remote evaporator(s), which
controls temperature in a third compartment (Zone 3).
Precedent DE host units are equipped with dual evaporators: one evaporator
controls temperatures in one compartment (Zone 1), the other evaporator
controls the temperature in another compartment (Zone 2). DE-3 host units
utilize an additional remote evaporator which controls temperatures in a
third compartment (Zone 3).
These units feature all-new DDE (Diesel Direct Electric) architecture with a
quiet running Thermo King diesel engine and a Thermo King X-430
reciprocating compressor.
