Welcome
Congratulations on your purchase of the Inteset Universal Infrared Receiver. The
PC-IRS5-01 Infrared Receiver (IRS5) is a custom designed and manufactured device
that provides the Computer User or Builder with many unique features. It will:
Function on any motherboard running Windows or Linux
Start up and shutdown the computer from Off or Hibernate
Control Media Center and XBMC with any RC6 Remote
Mount inside the case and provide remote access using our Extender
Use native eHome drivers. No downloads needed.

Installation Location
Mounting the IRS5 without the Extender cable requires a location where the black IR
Receiver has a clear line-of-sight to your RC6 remote. If mounting the IRS5 with the
Extender Cable it can be installed anywhere in the case using double stick tape.
1. Install the IRS5 onto the bracket provided.
2. Drill a 1/8” hole or larger and locate the black IR bump in the hole
3. Mount the bracket in your case so that the IR bump can see your remote
4. Connect the cables to the IRS5 as described below
Description of the IRS5 cables and components
The basic product comes with the IRS5 control board, 3 internal cables, 1 external
cable with a 5 volt adapter and a mounting bracket with hardware. The IRS5 has 4
rear connectors to which 3 internal cables connect. The 4th connector is used for the
optional IR Extender which is sold separately.
From the back of the IRS5 as seen below, starting on the right, the connectors are:
The 2-wire 5V power cable connector labeled as 5VP CN3.
The 4-wire MB Header Cable connector labeled as MB CN4.
The 4-wire USB Cable connector labeled as USB CN1.
The last connector is for the optional IR Extender. It is for a 3-wire IR
Extender Cable and is labeled as EXT CN2.

Cable Installation-Internal (From right to left)
The 5V Power cable attaches at 5VP. The other end is surface mounted to the back
of the case. This will require a hole in the case that is 3/8” in diameter. This cable is
20” long so keep that in mind when locating the IRS5 in the case.
The Motherboard Header Cable attaches at MB. The other end is connected to the
Front Panel header on the MB. Plug the 4 female connectors labeled Power+, Power-,
LED+ and LED- to the corresponding pins on the FP MB header. Then plug the 4 male
connectors onto the cables from the computers FP Power switch and FP LED, making
sure that they match the original connections that existed on your MB before you
began this installation. See the detailed instructions and video as referenced above.
It is critical that the LED is wired correctly because it is what tells the IRS5 that your
computer is on or off. So be sure that this and the Power Switch are wired correctly.
The USB Cable attaches at USB. For the other end find a USB 2.0 header on your MB
and plug the USB connector onto the 4 pin side. You will note that the red wire
labeled “USB Power” is separate from the other part of the connector. This is only
plugged onto the first pin of the USB header if your MB has a powered USB header.
Again, review the detailed instructions as referenced above. This cable is 16” long.
The optional IR Extender Cable attaches at EXT. The other end is mounted to the
back of the case. This will require a hole in the case that is 1/4” in diameter. The
cable is 20” long so keep that in mind when locating the IRS5 in the case.

Cable Installation-External
The 36” Power Cable plugs into the surface mounted jack on the back of the case.
This is then plugged into the 5v Adapter that is plugged into a 120v wall outlet. If
your country provides 240v standard power you must obtain your own 5 volt wall
adapter. These are the same adapters used to charge cell phones.
The optional 60” IR Extender Module Cable is plugged into the surface mounted
3.5mm jack on the back of the case. You can mount the IR bud on the other end
wherever it will have a clear line of sight to the user’s RC6 remote.
Software and System Set-up
In Windows click the “Start Button” then click “Control Panel” then “Hardware
and Sound”, then “Power Options” and finally click “Change what the power buttons
do”. Be sure that both the Power Button and the Sleep Button are placed in
“Hibernate” or “Shut down”.
Troubleshooting
If you press a button on the remote and nothing happens be sure that the following
is true:
You have made all connections for the IRS5 per the detailed instructions.
You are using our INT-422 Remote or another RC6 protocol remote.
You are pointing the remote control directly at the receiver.
The IR sensor on the receiver is not covered and no natural or artificial
light is shining directly on it.
The remote control is within 30 feet of the receiver or receiver extender.
You have not minimized or exited Media Center.
