General Power Tool Safety Warnings
WARNING
Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations and specifications provided with this
power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
The term “power tool” in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless)
power tool.
WORK AREA SAFETY
1. Keep your work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas promote accidents.
2. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids,
gases, or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
3. Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose
control.
4. The included auto-feed screwdriver attachment was designed to work with one make and several
models of power screwdrivers. Refer to the screwdriver manufacturer’s operator’s manual for related safety
and operating instructions.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
5. Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter
plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of
electric shock.
6. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigera-
tors. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
7. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of
electric shock.
8. Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away
from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
9. When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord
suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
10. Hold power tool using its insulated gripping surfaces when performing an operation where the fasten-
er may come into contact with hidden wiring. Fasteners that come into contact with a “live” wire may make
exposed metal parts of the power tool “live” and could give the operator an electric shock.
PERSONAL SAFETY
11. Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use
a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication. A moment of
inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
12. Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust mask,
non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal
injuries.

13. Prevent unintentional start-up. Ensure the switch is in the o position before connecting to power
source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the
switch or energizing power tools that have the switch on promotes accidents.
14. Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to
a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
15. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power
tool in unexpected situations.
16. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from
moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
17. If devices are provided for dust extraction and collection, ensure these are connected and properly
used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.
18. Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use of tools allow you to become complacent and ignore
tool safety principles. A careless action can cause severe injury within a fraction of a second.
POWER TOOL USE AND CARE
19. Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will
provide better, safer results when used according to its specifications.
20. Do not use the power tool if the power switch is defective. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with
the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
21. Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or remove the BATTERY pack, if detachable, from the
power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools.
Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
22. Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power
tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained
users.
23. Maintain power tools and accessories. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of
parts and any other condition that may aect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power
tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
24. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely
to bind and are easier to control.
25. Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits, etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into
account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations that
dier from its intended purpose could result in a hazardous situation.
26. Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and
grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.
SERVICE
27. Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts.
This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
28. Users or full-service dealers need to be aware that a spring is housed inside the feed system.
It will release from its constrained position during disassembly. Normal precautions should apply.

Tool Operation
Read sections titled “Safety Warnings” before operating tool.

Do not use this product if it is not completely assembled or if any parts appear to be missing or
damaged. Use of a product that is not properly and completely assembled or with damaged or missing parts could result
in serious personal injury.

Do not attempt to modify this product or create accessories or attachments not recommended for use
with this product. Any such alteration or modification is misuse and could result in hazardous conditions possibly leading
to serious personal injury.

INSTALLING A DS55M1, DS55D2 ATTACHMENT
1. Unplug tool from electrical supply or remove battery before installing attachment.
2. Remove the manufacturer’s nose cone from the tool.
3. Remove manufacturer’s bit and holder if present.
4. Install the appropriate Senco bit (see below), making sure it is fully seated (this may require some force.)
5. Make sure the attachment locking collar is in the unlock position and slide completely onto the tool.
(Note: DS55 models are designed to fit specific screwdrivers. Therefore, they look slightly dierent with unique
connection features depending on the brand of screwdriver. Refer to the images on the previous page.
6. Rotate the collar counterclockwise to engage and lock the attachment to the tool.

INSTALLING THE DS55D1 ADAPTER AND ATTACHMENT
1. To prepare the screw gun before installing the screw-on adapter.

a. Unplug tool from electrical supply or remove battery before installing
attachment.
b. Remove the nose cone.
c. Remove manufacturer’s bit and holder if present.
d. Unscrew the stock DeWalt clutch housing by rotating clockwise (threads
are left-hand/reversed). The use of a wrench may be necessary.
e. Remove the output shaft assembly from the stock clutch housing and
reinstall into the supplied Senco adapter and thread onto the DeWalt
tool by rotating counterclockwise.
f. Torque adapter onto tool to 50 in. lbs. with a 21 mm wrench.
2. Install the bit and the attachment onto the tool as described in steps 4-6 in the previous section.

TOOL OPERATION
ADJUSTING FOR FASTENER LENGTH
1. Remove battery before adjusting nosepiece for fastener length.
2. Depress the screw selector pin until it is flush with nosepiece and slide the nosepiece to the desired setting by
aligning hatch marks with the silver adjustment pin.
3. Release pin ensuring it is fully engaged in selected nosepiece slot for proper operation.

LOADING THE TOOL
CAUTION
Beware of sharp points on screws. Avoid grabbing this area during loading and operation.
1. Make sure the heads of the screws are resting on top of the plastic collation material.
This will ensure proper strip advancement and prevent jamming.
2. Check for proper fastener length setting (see “Adjusting for Fastener Length” above).
3. Feed the strip into the strip guide up toward the nose of the tool.
4. Feed the strip into the slide body until the first screw is aligned with the bit. The tool will feed all
subsequent screws automatically as the tool is pulled back o the work surface, returning to its relaxed state.
5. To remove the strip, pull it through from the top of the nosepiece.

DRIVING SCREWS
1. Whenever possible, hold the tool at a right angle (perpendicular) to the work surface.
2. Pull the trigger to start the motor.
3. Press the nosepiece with constant force against the work surface. Do not remove the tool from the work surface
until the clutch disengages and the bit stops rotating, signalling a fully driven screw.
4. Continue to allow the motor to run. The next screw will be automatically fed into place when the tool is pulled
o the work surface.

TOOL OPERATION
DEPTH OF DRIVE ADJUSTMENT
This tool is equipped with a locking depth control adjustment:
1. Release the thumbwheel by depressing the red lock button.
2. Adjust the countersink by turning the depth adjustment thumbwheel.
3. Refer to the markings on the tool for proper direction.
4. Release the lock button after adjustment.
Test drive screws while adjusting until the desired countersink is reached.
REVERSE OPERATION
To operate tool in reverse for removal of screws (refer to Figure 1):
1. Flip the forward/reverse switch on the tool to reverse rotation.
2. Turn the locking collar on the attachment to the unlock position.
3. Slide the attachment o the tool to expose the bit.
4. Insert bit into screw and apply/maintain pressure to engage clutch.
5. Pull trigger until screw is completely disengaged.
BIT REPLACEMENT
Due to wear or damage, the bit will need to be replaced periodically or when changing between drive types.
CAUTION
Remove battery or unplug tool before attempting to replace the bit.
1. Turn the locking collar on the attachment to the unlock position.
2. Slide the attachment o the tool to expose the bit.
3. Remove bit per tool manufacturer’s instructions
4. Insert the new bit per tool manufacturer’s instructions.
5. Install attachment and rotate collar to lock position.
NOSEPIECE REPLACEMENT
1. Remove battery or unplug the tool before changing the nosepiece.
2. Remove retention screw with flat-tip screwdriver.

3. Set the nosepiece on the longest setting possible.
4. Depress the screw selector pin until it is completely depressed. It will be necessary to use a screw or thin object
to depress to this depth.
5. While holding the pin in this position, slide the nosepiece forward and o the slide body.
6. Install the new nosepiece.
7. Replace the nosepiece retention screw ensuring it is seated snug against the slide body.
8. Check for proper fastener length setting (see “Adjusting for Fastener Length” above).
Maintenance
Read section titled “Safety Warnings” before maintaining tool.
1. With battery removed or cord disconnected, make daily inspection to ensure free movement of nosepiece and
trigger. Do not use tool if nosepiece or trigger sticks or binds.
2. Lubrication of the feed system is not necessary. DO NOT OIL.
3. Wipe tool clean daily and inspect for wear, especially the bit and nosepiece. Replace as necessary.

SICHERHEIT IM ARBEITSBEREICH
1. Halten Sie den Arbeitsbereich sauber und gut beleuchtet. Überladene oder dunkle Bereiche begünstigen Unfälle.
2. Nutzen Sie keine Elektrowerkzeuge in explosiven Atmosphären, so wie in Anwesenheit von brennbaren Flüssigkeiten,
Gasen oder Staub. Elektrowerkzeuge erzeugen Funken, die den Staub oder die Dämpfe entzünden könnten.
3. Halten Sie Kinder und Unbeteiligte während der Nutzung des Elektrowerkzeuges fern. Ablenkungen können dazu
führen, dass Sie die Kontrolle verlieren.
4. Der enthaltene Schraubendreher Aufsatz wurde für die Verwendung mit einem Fabrikat und mehreren Modellen von
Elektro-Schraubern entworfen. Beziehen Sie sich für zugehörige Sicherheits- und Betriebsanleitungen auf die Ge-
brauchsanweisung des Herstellers des Schraubendrehers.

5. Die Stecker der Elektrowerkzeuge müssen zu der Steckdose passen. Verändern Sie den Stecker nie in jeglicher Art. Ver-
wenden Sie keine Zwischenstecker mit geerdeten Elektrowerkzeugen. Unveränderte Stecker und passende Steckdosen
reduzieren das Risiko für einen elektrischen Schock
6. Vermeiden Sie Körperkontakt zu geerdeten Oberflächen, so wie Rohren, Heizungen, Paletten und Kühlschränken. Es
herrscht ein erhöhtes Risiko für einen elektrischen Schock, wenn Ihr Körper geerdet ist.
7. Setzen Sie Elektrowerkzeuge nicht Regen oder feuchten Bedingungen aus. Ein Eindringen von Wasser in ein Elektro-
werkzeug erhöht das Risiko für einen elektrischen Schock.
8. Missbrauchen Sie das Kabel nicht. Nutzen Sie niemals das Kabel dafür das Elektrowerkzeug zu tragen, zu ziehen oder
auszustecken. Halten Sie das Kabel von Hitze, Öl, scharfen Kanten oder beweglichen Teilen fern. Beschädigte oder
verhedderte Kabel erhöhen das Risiko für einen elektrischen Schock.
9. Wenn Sie das Elektrowerkzeug draußen bedienen, nutzen Sie ein Verlängerungskabel, das für die Außenanwendung
geeignet ist. Das Nutzen eines für die Außenanwendung geeigneten Verlängerungskabels verringert das Risiko für einen
elektrischen Schock.
10. Halten Sie das Elektrowerkzeug an den isolierten Greiächen wenn ein Vorgang durchgeführt wird, bei derer die
Schraube mit versteckten Kabeln in Kontakt kommen könnte. Schrauben, die mit einer stromführenden Leitung in
Kontakt kommen, könnten freigelegte Metallteile des Elektrowerkzeuges unter Strom setzen und dem Betreiber einen
elektrischen Schock geben.
PERSÖNLICHE SICHERHEIT
11. Bleiben Sie aufmerksam, achten Sie auf Ihre Handlungen und nutzen Sie Ihren Menschenverstande, wenn Sie ein Elekt-
rowerkzeug bedienen. Nutzen Sie ein Elektrowerkzeug nicht, wenn Sie müde sind oder unter dem Einfluss von Drogen,
Alkohol oder Medikamenten stehen. Ein Moment der Unachtsamkeit während des Bedienens eines Elektrowerkzeuges
kann zu ersten Personenschäden führen.
12. Nutzen Sie eine persönliche Schutzausrüstung. Tragen Sie immer einen Augenschutz. Eine Schutzausrüstung, so wie
eine Staubmaske, rutschfeste Sicherheitsschuhe, ein Schutzhelm, ein Hörschutz, die der Situation angepasst ist ver-
ringert das Risiko für Personenschäden.
