Inserting the battery
Using the nail grip, open the battery compartment
completely and remove the old battery.
Remove the
protective foil from
the new battery.
Wait for
at least 30 seconds
before inserting it.
Getting started

12
Getting started
Insert the new battery with the “+” sign (flat side of
the battery) in line with the “+” marked on the battery
compartment and close it.

13
Handle the battery compartment with care and
do not use excessive force.
If there is any resistance when shutting the
compartment, ensure that the battery is inserted
correctly. The compartment may not close
properly if the battery is upside down and the
instrument will not work.
When your iSense Micro is not in use, leave the
battery compartment open to allow any moisture
to evaporate.
We recommend you only use batteries which your
iSense Micro specialist approves and sells.
Low battery warning
An acoustic signal gives you an early warning that the
battery is approaching exhaustion.

14
Getting started
Fitting the iSense Micro in the ear
햲Make sure the iSense Micro’s retention piece
is attached and bent. 햲
Never use the iSense Micro without
its retention piece!
Example: iSense Micro bent
for the right ear
햳Place the iSense Micro
over the top of your ear.

15
햴Ensure that the receiver is placed
well in front of the ear canal.
햵Use the transparent retention
to fix the receiver in the concha
(the inner part of the visible ear).

16
Switching ON
Close the battery
compartment
by pressing on
the base of
the instrument.
Proceed as follow:
1. Insert a new 312 battery (see page 11) and fit
the iSense Micro in the ear (see page 14)
2. Switch ON the iSense Micro
3. Switch ON the related FM transmitter (e.g. inspiro)
iSense will carry out an automatic self check after being
switched ON. A warning tone will sound if the ear wax
filter is blocked and should be replaced (see page 18).
Getting started

17
Switching OFF
Using the nail grip,
slightly open the
battery cover until
it snaps into its
OFF position.

18
The iSense Micro’s ear wax detection feature sounds a
warning tone if the ear wax filter is blocked.
쐍This ear wax check is automatically carried out
when the iSense Micro is switched ON. The device
generates a beep sound to help it detect ear wax –
this beep may be heard by the user.
쐍If the wax filter is blocked and needs to be replaced,
the following sounds will be heard:
Beep – Beep – Beep…
Beep – Beep – Beep…
Three beeps every five seconds.
These ear wax detection beeps will be sounded auto-
matically every hour.
If Phonak’s inspiro FM transmitter is being used, this
ear wax detection warning will also be activated by the
inspiro’s Monitoring feature. The result of the ear wax
detection test will also be displayed on the inspiro’s
LCD. Check the inspiro User Guide for detailed information
on how to use the Monitoring feature.

19
The iSense ear wax filter is a replaceable part that
protects the receiver from the build up of wax. From
time to time the wax filter should be replaced.
For the best results, change the ear wax filter when
recommended by your hearing care professional.
Use only the supplied handling tools when changing
the ear wax filter.
These handling tools are designed for single use only;
please dispose of them after use.
