INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing ISP Technologies HIGH DEFINITION LINE 3112 active
speaker system. The HIGH DEFINITION LINE 3112 is a high output four-way
active speaker system designed to deliver HI-FI sound quality for high SPL
sound reinforcement applications. The HIGH DEFINITION LINE 3112 is a single
element line array cabinet where the element includes two 600-watt 10-inch
woofers, dual 300-watt 6.5-inch midrange drivers and two high performance,
2-inch mid-range compression drivers and two 1.75-inch polyester diaphragm
neodymium high frequency compression drivers. The HIGH DEFINITION LINE
3112 has five separate power amplifiers capable of producing upwards of 1000
watts RMS of power. The HIGH DEFINITION LINE 3112 requires an external
digital crossover network to provide optimized phase and frequency response at
each crossover point. The internal amplifiers are based on ISP Technologies
patented DAA™(Dynamic Adaptive Amplifier Technology) amplifier technology.
The DAA technology is capable of delivering extremely high output current
providing an improvement in transient response, output current, and a
noticeable improvement in PUNCH. The DAA amplifier technology utilizes a
high performance power amplifier driver that reduces parts count and greatly
improves reliability. The DAA amplifiers provide improved reliability by
including short circuit and over temperature protection.
The HIGH DEFINITION LINE 3112 inputs and outputs are shielded ETHERCON
providing all four bands via a single shielded CAT-5 cable. Proper connection
from the internal power amplifiers to the external processor crossover is critical
to avoid sending low frequency information to the high frequency drivers, which
would cause failure of the drivers. The HIGH DEFINITION LINE 3112 cabinet is
made of high quality 13 ply Baltic birch plywood with a durable spray on black
splatter polyurea finish for long life.

Correct use of all flyware is required for secure system suspension. Careful
calculations should always be performed to ensure that all components are
used within their working load limits before the cabinet suspended. Never
exceed the maximum load ratings.

Before hanging any speaker system, always inspect all components for cracks,
deformations, corrosion, missing, loose or damaged parts that could reduce
strength and safety of the cabinet. Do not suspend the cabinet until the proper
corrective action has been taken.
ATTACHMENT TO STRUCTURES
A licensed professional engineer must approve the placement and method of
attachment to the structure prior to the installation of any overhead object.
The following performance standards should be provided to the professional
engineer for design purposes; Uniform building code as applicable, Municipal
Building code as applicable and Seismic Code as applicable.
INSPECTION and MAINTENANCE
Suspension systems are comprised of mechanical devices and, as such, they
require regular inspection and routine maintenance to insure proper function
ability. Any suspended ISP Technologies loudspeaker must be inspected for
fatigue at least once per year. The inspection shall include a visual survey of all
corners and load bearing surfaces for signs of cracking, water damage, de-
lamination, or any other condition that may decrease the strength of the
loudspeaker enclosure.
Flyware that is provided with or for any ISP Technologies loudspeakers must be
inspected for fatigue at least annually. The inspection shall include a visual
survey of the material for signs of corrosion, bending, or any other condition
that may decrease the strength of the fastener.

REAR PANEL CONNECTION DIAGRAM
The HDL 3112™rear connection panel
provides both a single ETHERCON input
connector, which includes all 3 input
signals via a shielded CAT-5 connector
and a single XLR Full Range input. The
XLR Full Range input is processed
internally to provide the correct
crossover points for the HDL3112. A Full
Range Level adjustment is provided to
adjust the level of each individual
HDL3112, note: this level control only
works for the Full Range input. For even
more accurate time alignment of the
system an external processer can be
used to provide both the crossover points
of the system and additional system
equalization. Outputs signals are
available for both ETHERCON 3-band
signals if using the ETHERCON input or
XLR Full Range output if the XLR input
connector is used. Both the ETHERCON 3-Band input and the XLR Full Range
input connectors include a ground float circuit to help avoid ground loops as a
result of multiple cabinets connected in a
system. A 3-Band meter is provided to indicate
when a signal is present in each of the 3-Bands
and when the input signal is at the point of
clipping in each band. The input signal LED will
light 21dB below the clip point and will indicate
a remaining headroom of 21dB in that specific
band. An external DSP Processor is required to
provide the correct crossover and system
equalization for the HDL 3112 system.
The diagram to the right shows the 3-WAY
ETHERCON Schematic for the input of the HDL
3112 Line Array cabinet. The HDL 3112
requires the use of shielded CAT-5 cable in
order to provide a ground connection for the
input circuit. An ETHERCON input breakout
cable is available from ISP Technologies
allowing for separate XLR input connections for
each of the 3-Band input signals Low, Mid and
High. If you make a custom input cable you
must follow the connection diagram shown to
ensure that the proper input signal is applied to
the correct band of the HDL 3112.

The amplifier module is
internal on the side of the
HDL3112.
One end of the amplifier
module has the AC power
connections allowing
connection to AC power with
a Neutrik PowerCon inlet
connector. Under the Power
input is a Neutrik PowerCon
outlet connector, which allows
connection to one additional
cabinet. It is not
recommended to connect
more than one additional cabinet to this PowerCon outlet to reduce the
possibility of overloading a single AC power circuit and also to avoid excessive
current required from a single AC PowerCon inlet. This panel also includes a
panel mount AC protection fuse.

KNOW THE RULES OF SAFE RIGGING
The system is designed to
facilitate the suspension of the
HDL 3112 by a qualified person
familiar with rigging hardware
and industry practices. Improper
installation may result in damage,
injury, or death!
The HDL 3112 can only be rigged
using the ISP Technologies HDL 3112
ARRAY FRAME shown to the right.
The HDL 3112 ARRAY FRAME can be
used for both flying applications and
for ground stack setups.
The picture to the right shows a single HDL 3112 connected to the ARRAY
FRAME in a ground stack configuration. The HDL 3112 cabinets are simply
flipped upside down in order to allow the pinpoints on the ARRAY FRAME to
mate with the HDL 3112 Line Array cabinet.
In a flown configuration the
cabinet angles are set by
sliding the link from the top
cabinet down into the slot of
the next cabinet and inserting
the quick release pin in the
proper hole selection for the
desired splay angle. In a
ground stack configuration,
simply select the desired splay
angle and pin the link into the
proper hole. You then insert
the additional quick release
pin into the ground stack hole
in order to obtain the desired
splay angle.

THERMAL CONDITIONS
The ISP HIGH DEFINITION LINE 3112 Series is capable of producing in excess
of 1000 watts at full power. This generates heat that must be dissipated in
order to maintain reliability and insure the amplifier components stay within
their operating temperature specs. To accomplish this, the amplifier is
mounted on a heatsink that is internal to the cabinet. Airflow is forced through
a port near the internal heatsink.
In addition, the amplifiers are thermally protected internally via a thermal
switch, which will attenuate the signal 40db if the heatsink temperature
exceeds a safe operating temperature. When the temperature drops below a
critical point, full signal will be restored. This also protects the system if the
internal fan should fail. Tests have shown under extreme conditions that
cycling will occur approx. (40 sec. ON, 20 sec. OFF)
It should also be noted that a separate internal thermal breaker also protects
the power transformer. If the power transformer temperature reaches a critical
point, the transformer internal thermal breaker will open. If this condition
occurs, simply reduce the signal level of the system. This will only occur if the
HIGH DEFINITION LINE 3112 is continually pushed into excessive heavy
distortion.
