1.1 Introduction
TheTITANTelephoneRoutermoduleisamultiportIVR(interactivevoiceresponse)device
thatallowsmessagestobedispatchedinoneofavarietyofmessagingprotocols.Userscall
intotheTelephoneRoutermoduleviaatelephonehandsetandfollowvoicepromptsin
ordertoinitiatenumericpagingmessages,alphanumericcommonmessagesorvoice
paging.
Themethodsofmessagedispatchcanvaryfromalocalvoiceanddatapagingtransmitter,
anRS‐232basedmessagingprotocolandaLANconnection.





2INSTALLATION
2.1 EnclosureMounting
Beforemountingtheenclosure,youwillneedtodecidewheretoplacetheunit.The
TelephoneRoutercanbedeskmountedorinstalledintoastandard19inchrackframe.
YourTelephoneRouterpackagecontainsfouradhesiverubberfeetwhichcanbeplacedon
theundersideoftheunitifyouwishtodeskmountit.
Iftheunitistoberackmountedyouwillneedtoattachapairofrackears.YourTelephone
Routerpackagecontainsasetofrackearsandsixscrews.Useaphillipsscrewdriverto
attachtheearstothechassis.
UsethesuppliedIECmainspowerleadtoconnect110‐240VAC50/60Hzsupplytothe
TelephoneRouterunit.
ThephonelineswillneedtoberuntoasparePBXextensionusingastandardRJ12phone
cable.Takenoteoftheextensionnumber(s)thattheTelephoneRouterisbeingconnected
to,asyouwillneedtoknowwhichtodialwhentestingtheunit.


3BASICCONFIGURATION
3.1 Connecting
Inordertoviewtheuserinterface,youmustfirstconnecttotheTelephoneRouterviaitsEthernet
port.Therearetwowaysthatyoucanconnecttotheunit.
1. DirectlywithaPCorlaptopusingthesuppliedcrossoverEthernetcable(redrj45‐rj45).
2. Byconnectingtheunittoalocalareanetwork(LAN)byconnectingittoaspareportortoa
switch/hub,usingthesuppliedstraightthroughEthernetcable(bluerj45‐rj45).

Onceyouhavepluggedintheunityoucanuseautilitycalled“IPDiscover”tolocateyourTelephone
Routeronthenetworkandstartawebsessionwiththeunit.ThisprogramisincludedontheCD
includedinthepackage.RuntheprogramandyouwillseeallTITANproductsonthenetwork.

NOTE:DHCPisenabledbydefault.IfnoDHCPserverisfoundonthenetwork,thedefaultIPof
192.168.0.1willbeused.



Intheexampleabove,thereisaTelephoneRouteronthenetworkatIPAddress192.168.100.60.
IfyouwouldliketoconfiguretheIPsettingsofthisunityoumayclickthe“CfgIP”button.Youcan
thenturnoffDHCPifitisnotrequiredorchangetheunitsIPAddress.

ÆIMPORTANT:IfyoucannotconnecttotheTelephoneRouter,youshouldsetyourPC’snetwork
cardIPAddresstobeonthesamesubnetastheTelephoneRouter.ForexampleiftheTelephone
Routerissetto192.168.1.100youshouldsetyourPCIPAddressto192.168.1.x.(wherexis1‐255)


ThelinkisausefuloptionasitallowstheStatusScreentobedetached.Ifyou
haveadualmonitorsetupthedetachedwindowcanbemaximizedononescreenwhileother
programscanbeopenedintheotherscreen.


•TimeServer–ThisisthetimeserverontheinternetthatyourTelephoneRouter
willperiodicallytrytosyncronisewithinordertokeepthecorrecttime.
•CurrentTime–ShowsthecurrenttimefromtheTelephoneRouterunit.
•TimeZone–ThissettinghelpstheTelephoneRoutercalculatethecurrentlocal
time.
•ManuallySetTime–IfyourTelephoneRouterisneverconnectedtotheinternet
youcanmanuallysetthetimeinthisfieldin24hrformat.


Next,itisagoodideatocheckthattheIPsettingsoftheunitaresuitable.ClickSettings‐>IPSettings.



•Hostname–HereyoucangiveyourTelephoneRouteranameonthenetwork.This
namewillshowupintheIPDiscoverutility.GivingauniquenameallowsmultipleIP
basedTITANdevicestobeeasilylocatedandmanaged.
•FTPserverenabled–YourTelephoneRoutercontainsasimpleftpserverwhichcan
beusedtotransferfilestotheunit.Maintistheonlyuserwhichhasaccesstothis
server.ThisisusuallybestleftsettoNoforsecuritypurposes.
•DHCPclientenabled–BydefaultthisoptionissettoYeswhichmeansthatupon
powerupyourTelephoneRouterwillattempttocontactaDHCPserveronthe
networkthatitisconnectedtoinordertogainanIPAddress.Thesupplied
IPDiscoverutilitycanthenbeusedtolocateunitsonyournetwork.
Insomesituations,suchasifyournetworkhasnoDHCPserverorwheninterfacing
withaMasterControllerorSmartPage‐E,theTelephoneRoutermayneedafixedIP
Address.InthiscaseyouwillneedtofillintheIPAddress,IPMask,DefaultGateway
andDNSfieldbelow.

•IPv6enabled–IPv6(InternetProtocolVersion6)isthelatestleveloftheInternet
Protocol.IPv6wasdesignedasanevolutionarysetofimprovementstothecurrent
IPVersion4.ThemostobviousimprovementinIPv6overtheIPv4isthatIP
addressesarelengthenedfrom32bitsto128bits.Thisextensionanticipates
considerablefuturegrowthoftheInternetandprovidesreliefforwhatwas
perceivedasanimpendingshortageofnetworkaddresses.YourTelephoneRouter
supportsIPV6forfuturecompatibility.ThisfieldisnormallysettoNo.
•Syslogenabled–Syslogisasimplewayofperformingloggingofsomeofthe
TelephoneRouter’sactivities.Thisincludeswhenuserslogon/off,whenagateway
goesup/downorwhencertainsettingsarechangedsuchasIPSettings.
TheTelephoneRouterwillneedanetworkconnectionandaSyslogserveronthe
networkinordertousethisfunction.IfthisfunctionisrequiredentertheIP
AddressoftheSyslogserverinthefieldbelow.
TheTITANCDcontainsafreewareSyslogserverthatyoucanusetologthese
messages.




TheTelephoneRoutercanoperateintwomodes,dependingonthelicensekeyithasinstalled.

1. RS232serialoutputmode–MessagesthatarereceivedbytheTelephoneRoutercanbesentout
usingtheTAPprotocolviatheserialportintoanycompatibledevicesuchasaTITANSmartPage‐
EorTITANMasterController.(distributedmodelicensekeynotinstalled)


2. Distributedmode–usesXMLoverIPtoconnecttoaTITANMasterControllerunit.The
advantagewiththisismanyslavemodulescanconnecttoonemasterunitsothatthedatabase
isstoredinonelocation.(distributedmodelicensekeyinstalled)



Toconfiguredistributedmode,clickSettings‐>DistributedMode.



1. ToenablethisTelephoneRouterunittooperateindistributedmode,selectYes.
2. IntheServerfield,typetheIPAddressoftheTITANMasterController.
3. TheServerPortfieldshouldbeleftatthedefault80.
4. Indistributedmode,theTelephoneRoutermodulequeriesitsmasterduringeachstepofacall
overthenetwork.TheResponseTelephoneTimeoutfieldisthemaximumwaittimeinseconds
thatthisTelephoneRouterunitwillwaitforananswerfromthemasterunit.Default20seconds.










