AntennaCare
Useonlythesuppliedoranapprovedreplacementantenna.Unauthorizedantennas,modifications,or
attachmentscoulddamagethedevice.DoNOTholdtheantennawhenthedeviceisinuse.Holdingtheantenna
affectssignalqualityandmaycausetheCellularRoutertooperateatahigherpowerlevelthanneeded.Donot
useCellularRouterwithadamagedantenna.Ifadamagedantennacomesintocontactwithyourskin,aminor
burncanresult.TheCellularRouterantennaportshallonlybeconnectedtointernalantennaslocatedwiththe
samebuildingasthemainequipment.

TheTITANCellularRouterenablessendingofshorttextmessages(SMS’s)tocellphonesandother
destinationscapableofreceivingsuchmessages.
Capabilities
TheGSMshortmessagespecificationsupportsmessageencodingin7,8or16bits.Charactersthatare
usedinsomelanguagesareonlyabletoberepresentedbyusing16bitencoding.TheCellularRouter
supports7,8or16bitencoding.
CurrentlytheTITANAlarmRoutercommunicateswiththeCellularRouterusingeither7or16bitSMS
encoding,dependingonthecodepagesettingoftheAlarmRouterconfiguration.SeetheAlarmRouter
manualformoreinformation.

ThesuppliedantennascrewsontotheSMAconnector.Makesureitisscrewedonallthe
waytoensureagoodsignal.Theantennacomeswithamagneticbasewhichcanbe
mountedtoametalrackcaseorcabinet.
SIMCard
AGSMSIMcardmustbeinstalledintheslot.Useapenorpapercliptodepresstheswitch
nexttothetrayshowninthepicturebelow.TheSIMcardtraywillslideout.
PlaceaGSMSIMcardintothetrayasshownbelowandslideitbackintothetray.
▲WARNING:WheninsertingaSIMcardintotheCellularRouter,theunitwillneedtobepower
cycledbydisconnectingpowertotheunitforapprox10seconds,there‐applyingpower.Thiswill
ensurethemodemisproperlyinitialized.

1.3.1 MainsInput‐Rear
ThisIECconnectorisusedtosupplypowertotheunit.Youcanplug110‐240VAC50/60Hz
intoherewithouttheneedtochangepowersuppliesorsettings(inputisauto‐sensed).You
willhavebeensuppliedwithamainsleadintheCellularRouterkitwhichwillplugstraight
intothisconnector.

2.1 EnclosureMounting
Beforemountingtheenclosure,youwillneedtodecidewheretoplacetheunit.The
CellularRoutercanbedeskmountedorinstalledintoastandard19inchrackframe.
YourCellularRouterpackagecontainsfouradhesiverubberfeetwhichcanbeplacedonthe
undersideoftheunitifyouwishtodeskmountit.
Iftheunitistoberackmountedyouwillneedtoattachapairofrackears.YourCellular
Routerpackagecontainsasetofrackearsandsixscrews.UseaPhillipsscrewdriverto
attachtheearstothechassis.
Oncemounted,usethesuppliedIECmainspowerleadtoconnect110‐240VAC50/60Hz
supplytotheCellularRouterunit.

NoconfigurationoftheCellularRouterisrequired.Theunitsimplyneedsapowersource,connection
toahostdevice,anantennaconnection,networkcoverageandavalidSIMcardinsertedtoenableit
tosendmessages.Thefollowingsectionhassomeexamplesystemconfigurationswhichyoumayfind
usefulinformationwhensettingupyourownsystem.

4.1 Troubleshooting
Ifproblemsarise(i.e.messagesarenotbeingreceivedbythedesiredrecipient),itismost
usefultoperformsomebasicchecks.
•CheckthattheSIMcardisstillinsertedcorrectly.
•Checktheantennaconnectionissecureandscrewedonalltheway.
•CheckthestatusoftheNetworkConnectionLED,ifthereisanactiveconnectiontothe
networktheLEDshouldbeflashingslowly(abouteverytwoseconds).IfthisLEDisoffor
onconstantly,thereisanissuewiththeSIMcardornetworkcoverage.
Ifthereisaproblemwithnetworkconnectivity,afewthingscanbeeasilychecked.
Ensurethereiscoveragefromtheappropriatenetworkby:
1. RemovetheSIMcardandplaceintoahandsetthatisknowntowork.
2. Poweronandwaituntilcoverageisshown.Ifthereisarequirementtoentera
securityPIN,ensurethisfeatureisdisabledbeforetheSIMisplacedbackinto
theCellularRouter.
3. SendanSMStoanotherworkingdestinationortoyourself.
4. Checkwithyourserviceprovider.MakesuretheSIMisstillprovisioned
correctlyandthatitiscapableofsendingshortmessages.Ifusingapre‐payor
pay‐as‐you‐goserviceensurethattheaccountbalanceissufficienttoenable
messagesending.
