Supplement
This unit has been modified for your special needs to feature 4-track play
and 2-track record with dual-speed playback. All Safety Instructions and
Warnings are in the original instruction booklet provided by the original
manufacturer of this unit. The following supplemental instructions are a
companion to the original manufacturer's instructions to provide you with
additional information on using the custom modifications of this unit.
Getting to know this Custom Cassette Player and Recorder:
Place unit in the palm of your hand so that on the left side of the unit are
the press-down buttons and on the top of the unit are the external micro-
phone and earphone jacks; radio tuner; and AM-FM-TAPE Selector. The
speaker and AM/FM dial should be facing you.
Top of unit:
1. Telescoping Antenna
2. Microphone Jack
3. Earphone Jack
4. Radio Tuning Wheel
5. 3-Position AM-FM-TAPE Function Switch:
1) AM Radio; 2) FM Radio; 3) TAPE
Left side of unit:
1. Volume Control Wheel
2. Rewind Button
3. Fast Forward Button
4. Stop Button
5. Built-in Microphone
6. Track Selector - slide up for track 3-4 (TR3-4);
down for track 1-2 (TR1-2) playback.
7. Record Button
8. Play Button
9. Tape Speed Selector - slide up for 15/16 (Library of
Congress tapes); down for 1-7/8 (standard) playback.
Front of unit:
1. AM/FM display
2. Cassette window
3. Built-in mini speaker
4. Cassette door - located on top and bottom are tabs to
open cassette compartment.
Back of unit:
1. Battery door - press down and
slide to open.
Bottom of unit:
1. DC 4.5V jack for AC Adapter
(not included) BottomBack
POWER SUPPLY:
1. Push down to slide open battery door and insert 2 AA batteries (not
included) into unit, following polarity diagram.
2. An AC to 4.5V DC Adapter (not included) may be used to power the unit,
if preferred.
Notes:
1. Do not use old and new or different type batteries together.
2. If unit will not be used for a long time, please remove the batteries to
prevent leakage and corrosion.
3. If volume becomes faint or the sound distorted, please change the bat-
teries.
TO USE RADIO:
1. Set the 3-Position AM-FM-TAPE Function Switch to AM or FM.
2. The unit uses an internal antenna for AM radio. Please extend the tele-
scoping antenna for FM radio.
3. Adjust the Radio Tuning Wheel to a radio station and set Volume
Control Wheel to desired level.
4. To turn off radio, set the Function Switch to Tape.
CASSETTE OPERATION:
1. Open cassette door to insert a cassette tape (not included) by using the
indents on the top and bottom to gently pull cassette door towards you.
Close after inserting a tape inside.
2. Set the 3-Position AM-FM-TAPE Function Switch to TAPE.
TO PLAY:
1. Either set Track Selector to track 1-2 (TR1-2) or track 3-4 (TR3-4).
2. Set Tape Speed Selector to 1-7/8 (standard) or 15/16 (Library of
Congress tapes).
3. Press Play Button.
4. To end playback press Stop Button.
Notes:
1. A built-in mini speaker is provided for playback.
2. For private listening, connect earphones (not incl.) into Earphone Jack.

2. To end recording press Stop Button.
Notes:
1. Unit records only on track 1-2.
2. Record using the Built-in Microphone or connect an external micro-
phone (not included) to the Microphone Jack.
3. To record from radio: Set the AM-FM-TAPE Function Switch to AM or
FM; Tune to desired station; Press Record and Play Button together.
