AC OPERATION
Plug th d tachabl AC cord into a standard AC outl t (120V~60Hz).
1. Wh n th AC pow r cord (includ d) is conn ct d to th AC POWER SOCKET (#29) on
th back of th unit and th oth r nd is plugg d into a 120V AC~ 60Hz wall outl t, th
unit will disconn ct th batt ri s automatically, and op rat on AC Pow r only.
2. S t th FUNCTION SELECTOR (#23) to "CD" position for CD or AUX-IN play, "RADIO"
for FM / AM radio, “BT” for Blu tooth and "OFF/TAPE" for cass tt r cord r play or unit
pow r off.

BATTERY OPERATION
1. R mov th BATTERY DOOR (#27) on th back of th unit.
2. Install 6 x DC1.5V "C" (UM - 2) batt ri s (not includ d) according to th polarity
diagram insid th batt ry compartm nt.
3. Clos th BATTERY DOOR
IMPORTANT B sur that th batt ri s ar install d corr ctly. Wrong polarity may damag
th unit and void th warranty.

Rotat th TUNING CONTROL (#24) to s l ct th d sir d radio station according to
th dial scal on th knob.
4.
Rotat th VOLUME CONTROL (#22) to adjust to th d sir d output l v l.

To turn off th radio, slid th FUNCTION SELECTOR (#23) to OFF/TAPE position.

CD OPERATION
PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT INFORMATION

to start. If playback do s not start, it is lik ly du to th quality of th CD-R/RW disc and/or th
compatibility of th CD compilation softwar . Manufactur r is not r sponsibl for th playback
quality of CD-R/RW discs.
Do not attach a lab l or s al to ith r sid of th CD-R/RW disc. It may caus a malfunction.
FOR WINDOWS USERS
Wh n using th “Burn a CD” f atur to cr at an MP3 CD in Windows, you must s l ct th
“With a CD/DVD play r” option wh n it asks “How do you want to us th disc?” Th MP3 CD
will not play on this unit if you s l ct th “Lik a USB flash driv ” option or if th MP3 CD is not
finaliz d.
PLAYING A COMMERCIAL CD
1. S t th FUNCTION SELECTOR (#23) to th CD position.
2. Op n th CD DOOR (#15), load a CD with th lab l sid facing upward and clos th CD
door (#15).
3. Th CD will spin and start r ading th disc information. Wh n finish d, th LCD DISPLAY (#7)
will show th total numb r of tracks on th CD.
4. Pr ss th CD PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON (#9) to start playing th CD.
5. Whil playing, pr ss th PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON (#9) to paus playback. Th curr nt track
numb r will b flashing on th display. Pr ss th PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON (#9) again to
r sum playing.
6. Adjust th VOLUME CONTROL (#22) to th d sir d volum l v l.
7. Pr ss th CD STOP BUTTON (#10) to stop playing.
8. To turn off th CD play r, slid th FUNCTION SELECTOR (#23) to OFF/TAPE position.

REPEAT 1
Wh n you first start playing a CD, pr ss th MODE BUTTON (#11) onc and “REP” will flash on
th LCD DISPLAY (#7). Th curr nt track playing will now r p at continuously until you stop
playback or chang th mod .
REPEAT ALL
Pr ss th MODE BUTTON (#11) again and “REP ALL” app ars on th LCD DISPLAY (#7). All
tracks on th CD will play in ord r and will r p at continuously until you stop playback or chang

RANDOM PLAY
Pr ss th MODE BUTTON (#11) again and “RAND” app ars on th LCD DISPLAY (#7). All
tracks on th CD
will play in random ord r until you stop playback or chang th mod .
CANCELLING THE REPEAT MODES
Pr ss th REPEAT BUTTON (#11) again or until all th symbols on th LCD DISPLAY (#7) turn
off.
PLAYING AN MP3 CD
1. S t th FUNCTION SELECTOR (#23) to th CD position.
2. Op n th CD DOOR (#15), load an MP3 CD with th lab l or print sid facing upward and
clos th CD door (#15).
3. Th CD will spin and start r ading th disc information. Wh n finish d, th LCD DISPLAY
(#7) will show th total numb r fold rs follow d by th total numb r of tracks on th MP3
CD.
4. Pr ss th CD PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON (#9) to start playing th MP3 CD.
5. Whil playing, pr ss th PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON (#9) to paus playback. Th curr nt track
numb r will b flashing on th LCD DISPLAY (#7). Pr ss th PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON (#9)
again to r sum playing.
6. Pr ssing th ALBUM (FOLDER) BUTTON (#3) allows you to switch fold rs (if availabl on
your MP3 CD). R p at dly pr ss th ALBUM (FOLDER) BUTTON (#3) to st p through all th
availabl fold rs on th MP3 CD. Th LCD DISPLAY (#7) will show F 01 is fold r #1, F 02 is
fold r #2 and so on.
7. Adjust th VOLUME CONTROL (#22) to th d sir d volum l v l.
8. Pr ss th CD STOP BUTTON (#10) to stop playing.
9. To turn off th CD play r, slid th FUNCTION SELECTOR (#23) to OFF/TAPE position.
NOTE If skipping occurs during CD play, try turning th volum down. Do not op n th CD
DOOR wh n a CD is playing.
REPEAT MODE PLAYING AN MP3 CD
REPEAT 1
Wh n you first start playing an MP3 CD, pr ss th MODE BUTTON (#11) onc and “REP” will

will play in random ord r until you stop playback or chang th mod .
CANCELLING THE REPEAT MODES
Pr ss th REPEAT BUTTON (#11) again or until all th symbols on th display turn off.
SKIP AND SEARCH MODE (COMMERCIAL CD and MP3 CD)
1. During Play or Paus mod , pr ss th CD SKIP + BUTTON (#2) or CD SKIP -
BUTTON (#1) to go to th n xt track or go back to th b ginning of th curr nt track.
2. During play mod or Paus mod , pr ss and hold th th CD SKIP + BUTTON (#2) or CD
SKIP - BUTTON (#1) to s arch within th curr nt track with audibl high sp d playback.
PROGRAM PLAY MODE (COMMERCIAL CD and MP3 CD)
This function allows music tracks to b play d in a programm d s qu nc .
NOTE: Program can only b s t in STOP mod .
1. Pr ss th MODE BUTTON (#11) onc . Th program numb r P01 and th symbol PROG will
app ar on th display.
2. Pr ss th CD SKIP + BUTTON (#2) or CD SKIP - BUTTON (#1) to s l ct th track to
b programm d.
3. Pr ss th MODE BUTTON (#11) again to stor th s l ction. Th program numb r will
advanc to P02 and flash to prompt for th n xt input.
4. You may r p at st ps 2 to 3 to program up to:
• 20 tracks wh n playing a COMMERCIAL CD or
• 99 tracks or wh n playing an MP3 CD

5. Pr ss th CD PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON (#9) to start program play. “PROG” will app ar on
th LCD DISPLAY (#7).
6. Pr ss th PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON (#9) again to stop th playback whil r taining th
program.
7. To play th programm d back again, pr ss th PLAY/PAUSE BUTTON (#9).
8. To d l t th program, pr ss th STOP BUTTON (#10) twic . “PROG” will turn off on th
LCD DISPLAY (#7).

CASSETTE PLAYER / RECORDER OPERATION
1. S t th FUNCTION SELECTOR (#23) to th OFF/TAPE position.
2. Pr ss th CASSETTE STOP/EJECT BUTTON (#17) to op n th Cass tt Door and
ins rt a pr -r cord d cass tt tap with th xpos d tap facing out towards you. Push th
Cass tt Door to clos it.
3. S t th FUNCTION SELECTOR (#23) to OFF/TAPE position, pr ss th CASSETTE
PLAYBUTTON (#20) to start playback and adjust th Rotary Volum Control to obtain th
d sir d sound l v l.
4. Pr ss th CASSETTE F.FWD BUTTON (#18) or th CASSETTE REW BUTTON (#19)
to rapidly advanc or r wind th tap .
5. Pr ss th CASSETTE PAUSE BUTTON (#16) to paus playback, pr ss th button again to
r sum playback.
6. Pr ss th CASSETTE STOP/EJECT BUTTON (#17) to stop op ration.
Recording
1. Ins rt an audiocass tt with th sid on which you wish to r cord facing out towards you and
with th full tap r l on th right. Ensur that th cass tt is not copy-prot ct d (th copy
prot ction tab on th top narrow sid of th cass tt must not hav b n r mov d).
2. S l ct th sourc from which you wish to r cord with th function switch and th n start
playback from this sourc if n c ssary. Th sound sourc which you ar list ning to is th
on from which th r cording is mad . Th r cording l v l is controll d automatically.
Changing th volum do s not chang th r cording.
3. Pl as pr ss th CASSETTE RECORD BUTTON (#21) (th CASSETTE PLAYBUTTON
(#20) is automatically pr ss d down at th sam tim ). R cording now b gins. All pr vious

stopp d by m ans of th CASSETTE STOP/EJECT BUTTON (#17) .

BLUETOOTH OPERATION
PAIRING A SMARTPHONE OR BLUETOOTH ENABLED DEVICE
Th Blu tooth f atur nabl s you to str am and play th digital music on your Blu tooth
nabl d d vic to your unit.
1. Ch ck your Blu tooth nabl d d vic and mak sur th Blu tooth f atur is turn d on.
R f r to manual of your smartphon or xt rnal Blu tooth nabl d d vic if n d d.
2. S t th FUNCTION SELECTOR (#23) to BT (Blu tooth) position and “bt” will b flashing on
th display.
3. Enabl th s arch or scan f atur of your Blu tooth d vic and s l ct “CD-590” from th list
of discov rabl Blu tooth d vic s.
4. Onc pair d (conn ct d), th “bt” showing on th display will stop flashing and r main on.
5. You can now str am music from your Blu tooth nabl d vic to th CD-590.
6. Adjust th volum of th Blu tooth nabl d vic to a comfortabl l v l.
7. If you want to pair th CD-590 with anoth r Blu tooth d vic , pr ss th MODE BUTTON (#11)
to disconn ct from th curr nt d vic . “bt” will b gin flashing in th display again.

This unit provid s an AUX IN JACK (#28) for conn cting xt rnal audio d vic s lik MP3
play rs, CD play rs, smart phon s and iPods ( xc pt iPod shuffl 3rd g n ration) to list n to
your xt rnal sourc through th sp ak rs of this syst m.
1.

Plug on nd of th cabl into th AUX IN JACK (#28) locat d on th back sid of th unit
and th oth r nd of th cabl into th Lin -out Jack or H adphon Jack of your xt rnal

Turn on th xt rnal audio d vic .
4.
Turn on th unit by s tting th FUNCTION SELECTOR (#23) to CD position, th “AU” will
app ar in th display.
5.
Th volum l v l can now b controll d through th VOLUME CONTROL (#22) of th unit.

CASSETTE CARE
