POWER SOURCES
This uni opera es on 120V~ 60Hz or 6 x DC1.5V “C” (UM-2) ba eries. Do no a emp o
opera e he uni on any o her power source. You could cause damage o he uni and
void your warran y. Please be sure he power ou le you plug his uni in o is working and
receives cons an (unswi ched) power.
AC OPERATION
Plug he de achable AC cord in o a s andard AC ou le (120V~60Hz).
1.
When he AC power cord (included) is connec ed o he AC POWER JACK (#19) on
he back of he uni and he o her end is plugged in o a 120V AC~ 60Hz wall ou le , he
uni will disconnec he ba eries au oma ically, and opera e on AC Power only.
2.
Slide he FUNCTION SELECTOR (#2) o “OFF/TAPE” for casse e recorder play or
uni power off, “AUX” posi ion AUX play, “FM” for FM radio and “AM” for AM radio.
WARNING:
Before connec ing o he power ou le , ensure ha he ou le corresponds o he
informa ion on he ra ing label a he bo om of he appara us.
BATTERY OPERATION
1.
Remove he BATTERY DOOR (#18) on he back of he uni .
2.
Ins all 6 x DC1.5V “C” (UM - 2) ba eries (no included) according o he polari y
diagram inside he ba ery compar men .
3.
Close he BATTERY DOOR (#18).
IMPORTANT:
Be sure ha he ba eries are ins alled correc ly. Wrong polari y may damage
he uni and void he warran y.
BATTERY NOTE AND CARE
1. Danger of explosion if he ba ery is replaced incorrec ly. Replace only wi h he same or
equivalen ype
2. Do no mix old and new ba eries.
3. Do no mix alkaline, s andard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) ba eries.
4. If he uni is no o be used for an ex ended period of ime, remove he ba eries. Old or
leaking ba eries can cause damage o he uni and may void he warran y.
5. Do no ry o recharge ba eries no in ended o be recharged; hey can overhea and
rup ure. (Follow ba ery manufac urer’s direc ions).
6. Do no dispose of ba eries in fire, ba eries may leak or explode.
BATTERY REPLACEMENT
When he ou pu sound of his uni becomes dis or ed, he ba eries are weak. You need o
replace all he exhaus ed ba eries a he same ime as soon as possible o avoid ba ery
leakage.

RADIO OPERATION
1. Slide he FUNCTION SELECTOR (#2) o AM or FM posi ion, POWER INDICATOR (#11)
urns on
2. Ro a e he TUNING CONTROL (#13) o your desired radio s a ion according o he RADIO
DIAL SCALE(#15) and POINTER.
3. Ro a e he VOLUME CONTROL (#1) o adjus o he desired ou pu level.
4. To urn off he radio, slide he FUNCTION SELECTOR (#2) o OFF/TAPE posi ion.
TIPS FOR BEST RECEPTION
The AM and FM an ennas are loca ed inside he cabine of he uni . If radio recep ion is weak,
change he posi ion of uni un il he in ernal an enna picks up he s ronges signal.
CASSETTE PLAYER / RECORDER OPERATION
1. Press he CASSETTE STOP/EJECT BUTTON (#6) o open he CASSETTE DOOR
(#16) and inser a pre-recorded casse e ape wi h he exposed ape facing upwards. Push
he CASSETTE DOOR (#16) o close i .
2. Slide he FUNCTION SELECTOR (#2) o OFF/TAPE posi ion, press he CASSETTE
PLAY
BUTTON (#9) o s ar playback and adjus he VOLUME CONTROL (#) o ob ain
he desired sound level.
3. Press he CASSETTE F.FWD
BUTTON (#7) or he CASSETTE REW
BUTTON (#8)
o rapidly advance or rewind he ape.
4. Press he CASSETTE PAUSE BUTTON (#5) o pause he playback, press i again o
resume he playback.
5. Press he CASSETTE STOP/EJECT BUTTON (#6) o s op opera ion.
Recordin from the radio/auxiliary source
1. Se he FUNCTION SELECTOR (#2) o TAPE/OFF posi ion.
2. Press he CASSETTE STOP/EJECT BUTTON (#6) o open he casse e holder.
3. Inser a ape and close he Casse e Holder.
4. Selec he desired sound source wi h he FUNCTION SELECTOR (#2).

5. Press CASSETTE RECORD
BUTTON (#10). The CASSETTE PLAY

To pro ec your casse e apes and preven unnecessary wear o he pinch roller of he
casse e mechanism, his uni is equipped wi h an Au oma ic S op Sys em. When he ape
ends during play, he CASSETTE PLAY
BUTTON (#9) will au oma ically release o s op he
casse e from running.

AUX IN OPERATION
This uni provides an AUX IN JACK (#12) for connec ing ex ernal audio devices like MP3
players, CD players, smar phones and iPods (excep iPod shuffle 3rd genera ion) o lis en o
your ex ernal source hrough he speakers of his sys em.
1. You need an audio cable (no included) wi h one 3.5 mm s ereo plug on each end of he
cable.
2. Plug one end of he cable in o he AUX IN JACK (#12) loca ed on he op of he uni and
he o her end of he cable in o he Line-ou Jack or Headphone Jack of your ex ernal
audio device.
3. Turn on he ex ernal audio device.
4. Turn on he uni by se ing he FUNCTION SELECTOR (#2) o AUX posi ion, POWER
INDICATOR (#11) urns on.
5. The volume level can now be con rolled hrough he VOLUME CONTROL (#1) of he uni .
Opera e all o her func ions on he auxiliary device as usual.
6. Se he FUNCTION SELECTOR (#29) o OFF/TAPE posi ion o urn off he uni .
Notes:
•
If you connec ed he Line-ou Jack on your ex ernal device hen you only need o adjus
he volume con rol of his sys em. If you connec ed he Headphone Jack of your ex ernal
device hen you may need o adjus bo h he volume con rol of your ex ernal device and
he volume con rol of his sys em o find he mos desirable volume se ing.

Remove he audio cable from AUX IN JACK (#25) when you finish lis ening. Don' forge
o swi ch off he power on your ex ernal device as well.
USING HEADPHONES (NOT INCLUDED)
Inser ing he plug of your headphones in o he HEADPHONE JACK (#3) will enable you o
lis en o he CD, Radio or Casse e music in priva e. When using headphones, he Buil -in
Speakers will be disconnec ed.
CAUTION:
•
Avoid excessive volume levels for long period of ime when using he earphones.
Prolonged use a high levels may impair your hearing.
•
Keep he volume a a reasonable level even if your headse is an open-air ype designed
o allow you o hear ou side sounds. Please no e ha excessively high volume may s ill
block ou side sounds.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

4. Avoid leaving your uni in direc sunligh or in ho , humid or dus y places.
5. Keep your uni away from hea ing appliances and sources of elec rical noise such as
fluorescen lamps or mo ors.
ABOUT CASSETTE TAPES
Whenever you record on a casse e any previously recorded ma erial is erased as he new
ma erial is recorded. To preven you from acciden ally erasing ma erial which you wish o
save, blank casse es are equipped wi h erase preven ion abs for each side of he ape. If
he erase preven ion ab for side A is removed, you canno acciden ally record on side A. The
Record key canno be depressed if he erase preven ion ab on he casse e has been
removed.
To preven acciden al erasing on side A of a casse e use a small screw driver or similar ool
o break off he erase preven ion ab for side A. This preven s he record key form locking.
If la er you do wish o record on side A of he casse e, cover he ab opening wi h a piece of
cellophane ape. This will allow he Record o func ion again.
CASSETTE CARE
Two common causes of rouble experienced when using casse es are:
1) Tape Jamming – Leading o uneven speed in playback, and
2) Tape Tangling – Where he ape wraps i self around vi al par s of he
mechanism.
To reduce he likelihood of hese problems occurring, he following precau ions should be
observed:
Check ha here are no loose layers of ape visible hrough he casse e cen er window
(see Fig. 1). Take up any loose layers, using a pencil or hexagonal barreled ballpoin pen,
before inser ing he casse e in o he machine (see Fig.2)
If he casse e feels igh while performing opera ion shown (see Fig.2), he ape may be
jamming due o ridges formed in he winding of he ape (visible hrough he cen er
window). These may be removed, in mos cases, by fas winding of he casse e from one
end o he o her and back again.

Use only well-known brands of ape. Avoid use of C-120 casse es.
Fur hermore, do no expose casse es o direc sunligh , dus or oil, and do no ouch he
ape surfaces.
HEAD CLEANING
The ape heads, pinch roller and caps an require periodic cleaning. This removes par icles of
he me al oxide coa ing ha wear off he ape and accumula e on hese par s and impair
performance. Swi ch off he power, press he CASSETTE STOP/EJECT BUTTON (#6)
o open he casse e door, and press he CASSETTE PLAY
BUTTON (#9). Clean he ape
heads, pinch roller and caps an wi h a sof clo h or co on pad dampened in isopropyl alcohol
or special ape head cleaner.

2. Keep your uni away from hea ing appliances and sources of elec rical noise such as
fluorescen lamps or mo ors.
