Thank you for choosing a JL Audio StealthMod® System for your automotive sound system.
With proper installation, your new vehicle-specific audio system
will deliver years of listening pleasure.
We strongly recommend that you have your new StealthMod® System installed by your authorized
JL Audio dealer. The installation professionals employed by your dealer have the necessary tools
and experience to disassemble and reassemble your vehicle properly. If you prefer to perform your
own installation, please read this installation guide completely before beginning the process.
If you choose to perform the installation yourself, it is absolutely vital that
the Stealthbox®be properly mounted to the vehicle according to these
instructions. Failure to mount the enclosure properly presents two problems:
1) The sub-bass performance will suffer due to the movement of the enclosure
caused by the force exerted by the woofer(s).
2) A loose enclosure presents a serious safety hazard in the event of a collision
or sudden deceleration.

STEP 4
Carefully unclip the trim panel at the top of the door and
remove the panel.
STEP 8
Pictured is the Premium System speaker with the door
panel removed. Unplug, unbolt, and remove the speaker.
STEP 3
With the interior release handle removed, unclip the screw
cover, and remove the screw.
STEP 7
Pictured is the Base System speaker with the door panel
removed. Unplug, unbolt, and remove the speaker.
STEP 2
Pull out on the interior release handle to access the
mounting screw. Remove the screw and handle.
STEP 6
Carefully pry off the interior pull handle cover, and remove
the two screws behind the panel.
Starting at the bottom of the door panel, carefully unclip and
remove the panel.
STEP 1
Open the passenger door and roll the window completely
down.
STEP 5
Unclip the screw cover panel at the back of the door, and
remove the screw.

STEP 12
Connect one piece of 16 Gauge Speaker Cable to the woofer
connections on the C5-650x Speaker, and connect the other
piece of 16 Gauge Speaker Cable to the tweeter connections
on the C5-650x Speaker.
Mount the C5-650x Speaker to the Speaker Adaptor using
eight #8 x 3/4” Pan Head Screws.
STEP 16
Secure the Crossover Mounting Plate to the factory midrange
mounting screw holes using the factory screws in vehicles
with the Premium System, or a pair of #8 x 1/2” Pan Head
Screws on vehicles with the Base System.
ST EP 11
Route two pieces of 16 Gauge Speaker Cable through the
grommet in the door and out through the speaker hole in
the Speaker Adaptor.
STEP 15
Pictured is the factory midrange mounting screw hole with
the tab removed.
STEP 10
Secure the Speaker Adaptor to the door using the factory
screws. Attach a second piece of Foam Tape around the
speaker hole in the Speaker Adaptor as shown.
STEP 14
Grind or cut off the small tab near the factory midrange
speaker mounting screw hole.
STEP 9
Attach a piece of Foam Tape around the factory speaker hole
as shown.
STEP 13
Premium System Only:
Unplug, Unbolt, and remove the factory midrange speaker
from the door panel.
This step is not necessary in vehicles with the Base System.

STEP 20
Base System Only:
Steps 20-29 are only necessary on vehicles with the Base
System.
For vehicles with the Premium System, skip to Step 30.
STEP 24
Remove the screw at the front passenger side of the radio
conslole, and remove the carpeted panel.
STEP 19
Tie the 16 Gauge Speaker Cable away from the C5-650
Speaker, and reinstall the door panel.
Repeat Steps 2-19 for the driver’s side door.
STEP 23
Remove the panel.
STEP 18
Connect the two pieces of 16 Gauge Speaker cable routed
in Step 11 to the Crossover woofer and tweeter outputs
accordingly. Using the chart below as a guide, connect
a third piece of 16 Gauge Speaker Cable to the Crossover
inputs, and connect them to the wires removed from the
factory speaker.
Base System: Premium System:
RF (+) = gray green/brown
RF (-) = gray/black green
LF (+) = white green/brown
LF (-) = white/black green
STEP 22
Remove the two screws that hold on the side panel of the
radio console.
STEP 17
Secure the Crossover to the Crossover Mounting Plate using
a pair of #8 x 5/8” Pan Head Screws.
Adjust the Crossover settings as outlined below:
Base System: Premium System:
Midrange Presence = REF REF
Tweeter Level = - 1.5 dB + 2 dB
STEP 21
Remvoe the screw at the front driver’s side of the radio
console, and remove the carpeted panel.

STEP 28
Push in on the four radio mounting tabs and slide the factory
radio out of the dash. Disconnect the wiring harnesses and
remove the radio.
STEP 32
Connect 12 Gauge Speaker Cable to the terminal cup on the
enclosure, and set the Stealthbox® into position. Route the
12 Gauge Speaker Cable behind the driver’s side carpeted
panel toward the front of the vehicle. Tighten the Straps
around the enclosure as shown.
STEP 27
Locate the two Allen head screws on each side of the radio.
Turn them 180 degrees counter clockwise to release the
radio mounting tabs.
Important: Do not turn the Allen head screws past the
point of tension (approximately 180 degrees). They are not
designed to come out, and attempting so will damage the
radio mounting tabs.
STEP 31
Locate the tie-down hooks on each side of the trunk, and
slide a Strap through the hooks.
STEP 26
Remove the small Allen head screw from the driver’s side of
the factory radio.
STEP 30
Empty out the trunk of the vehicle.
STEP 25
Remove the two screws that hold on the side panel of the
radio console, and remove the panel.
STEP 29
Using the color code in Step 18 as a guide, cut the two pair
of front speaker wires a few inches from the plug. Connect
a pair of Speaker to RCA Adaptors to the plug side wires,
and connect 16 Gauge Speaker Cable to the opposite side.
Connect the RCA Cable to the Speaker to RCA Adaptors
Route the wires down toward the driver’s kick panel, and
reinstall the factory radio and four radio console panels.

STEP 36
Remove the fuse panel cover from the driver’s kick panel.
Unscrew and remove the kick panel.
STEP 40
Carefully route the wires around the battery to the passenger
side. Cover the wiring with 1/2” Loom as shown.
STEP 35
Route the 12 Gauge Speaker Cable under the sill panel up to
the driver’s kick panel.
STEP 39
Remove the battery cover and the plastic panels on either
side of the battery. Unscrew and remove the plastic panels
inside the storage area as well.
STEP 34
Carefully unclip the sill panel.
STEP 38
Drill a 9/16” hole in the firewall in the location shown. Snap
in a Grommet and route all the wires through the Grommet.
Reinstall the kick panel and sill panel.
If using the HD-RLC Remote Level Control, route its wire
to the desired remote location and pass it through the
Grommet as well. Follow the instructions included with the
HD-RLC for proper mounting procedure.
STEP 33
Remove the screw cover on the driver’s side sill panel, and
remove the screw.
STEP 37
Connect a Fuse Tap to the appropriate fuse as listed below:
Base System:
Fuse 6, Row C
Premium System:
Fuse 2, Row C
Do not install the fuses at this time. Connect Remote Turn-
on Wire to the Fuse Tap

STEP 44
Route the remaining wires through the last Grommet.
STEP 48
Pictured is the Amplifier Cover Panel and associated
hardware. Adjust the settings of the HD900/5 Amplifier as
illustrated on Pages 2-3. Secure the Amplifier to the panel
using four 8 - 32 x 5/8” Screws and four #8 Lock Washers.
Premium System Only:
Secure the CL-SSI to the panel using four 8 - 32 x 3/8” Screws,
four #8 Flat Washers, and four #8 Lock Washers.
STEP 43
Connect the Ground Wire to the factory grounding lug as
shown. Route the wire through one of the Grommets and
cover it with 1/2” Loom.
STEP 47
Premium System Only:
Connect the input plugs to the CL-SSI. The mid/tweeter
wires should be in Input A, and the woofer wires should be
in Input C.
Set both A and C Level Trims to the 12 o’clock position. Set
the Level switches to the Spkr position, the Mode switch to
the 2-Way position, and the Signal Sense switch to the Off
position.
STEP 42
Connect the Power Wire to the positive battery terminal with
the Fuse Holder about 8” away from the battery. Route the
Power Wire through one of the Grommets and cover it with
1/2” Loom as shown.
Do not install the fuse at this time.
STEP 46
Premium System Only:
Cut the mid/tweeter and woofer wires a few inches from the
amplifier plug. Connect the plug side of the wires to a pair of
CL-SSI input plugs, and connect 16 Gauge Speaker Cable to
the wire side. Reinstall the factory amplifier.

STEP 41
Drill three 9/16” holes in the second firewall on the passenger
side. Snap a Grommet into each hole as shown.
STEP 45
Remove the factory amplifier cover panel. For the Premium
System, remove the factory amplifier mounting screws, and
unplug and remove the amp.
Route all cables to this location, and cover with 1” loom as
necessary.

STEP 52
Secure the assembled Amplifier Cover Panel in place using
the factory hardware.
STEP 51
Install the two mini fuses into the Fuse Tap in the kick panel.
Reinstall the kick panel and sill panel. Install the 60 amp
MAXI fuse into the Fuse Holder. Reinstall the plastic panels
around the battery and in the storage area.
STEP 50
Connect the Power, Ground, and Remote Turn-On Wires to
the power terminal of the Amplifier. Connect the 16 Gauge
Speaker Cable to the Amplifier in bridged mode, using the
front left positive and front right negative for the left speaker
and the rear left positive and rear right negative for the
right speaker. Connect the 12 Gauge Speaker Cable to the
subwoofer channel. Connect the Y-Adaptors to the RCA
Cables (or the Speaker to RCA Adaptors for the Premium
System), and connect both lefts into the front inputs and
both rights into the rear inputs. Plug in the HD-RLC cable.
Secure all cables with cable ties.
STEP 49
Premium System Only:
Connect the Speaker to RCA Adaptors to the outputs of the
CL-SSI. Connect the Remote Wire to the red accessory wire
on the CL-SSI. Connect the yellow constant 12 volt power
wire and black ground wire from the CL-SSI to the power
and ground wires at the factory amplifier. The blue remote
wire will be used as the remote turn-on wire for the HD900/5
Amplifier.
