10 11
TYPOLOGIES OF SANITIZING GEL
For the correct functioning of the totems equipped with gel dispensers, we
strongly recommend the use of “J-Gel”, the high-performance liquid sanitizer
developed and produced specifically for JTotems and distributed by JMC
Group. Otherwise, the use of a spray sanitizing gel is recommended.
SAFETY
The sanitizing gel must never be swallowed or come into contact with the
nose and eyes. J-Gel is produced by Neula (Via Brancaleone Doria, 1 - 07100
Sassari (SS) - Italy). In case of emergency, contact the manufacturer Neula.
SANITIZING GEL REFILL
Totems with gel dispensers (5.) need to be refilled with gel whenever they run
out.
COMPOSITION/INFORMATION ON MIXTURES
J-GEL sanitising gel does not contain substances classified as harmful to
human health or the environment according to the terms of Regulation
(EU) 1272/2008 (CLP) ( and subsequent amendments and supplements) in
quantities that would require a declaration.
RISKS IDENTIFICATION
J-GEL sanitising gel is an alcohol-based liquid and highly flammable. Even
explosive vapours can be released.
2.6 SANITIZING GEL
FLAMMABILITY RISK
The sanitising gel is alcohol-based and therefore at risk of flammability. The
totems, and in particular the tank (15.) and gel dispenser (5.), must be kept
away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames or other sources of ignition.
Prevent any electrostatic charge accumulation. Smoking is not allowed in the
proximity of the totems, in particular the gel dispenser (5.) and the tank (15.).
FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES
Fire extinguishing methods
Appropriate: Carbon dioxide, foam, chemical powder.
Not appropriate: Water jets. Water is not eective in extinguishing fire but can
be used to cool closed containers exposed to flame, preventing bursts and
explosions.
Risks related to the sanitizing gel
In case of explosion or fire, avoid inhaling the products of combustion.
Recommendations for personnel in charge of fire fighting
It is highly recommended to cool gel containers with water jets and to always
wear full fire protection equipment.
Environmental protection measures
Extinguishing water must not be discharged into drains. Contaminated fire
extinguishing water and fire residues must be disposed of in accordance with
current regulations.

IN CASE OF ACCIDENTAL GEL SPILLAGE
Technical solutions
Two types of solutions have been designed. The first is a safety tank and is
provided in the J2S Agrigento totems. The spilled gel is collected in a safety
container with a capacity of 6 L. The second solution is a controlled system
of excess gel spillage outside the totem through a silicone tube and a spacer
stud insert fixed by pressure in the safety tank (8.2.A.). This option is applied to
J2S Venice, Rome and Florence totems.
The following figures 1a. and 1b. show the two technical solutions implemented.
1a. Safety tank 1b. Controlled gel
gel spillage system
Rules to avoid improper use
The safety tank must not contain any objects other than the gel dispenser
tank.
Do not place a safety tank with a capacity greater than 5 L in the J2S
Agrigento.
In the J2S Venice, Rome and Florence it is compulsory to use only the tanks
provided.
Safety equipment
Appropriate protective equipment must be worn for safe cleaning and
maintenance.
Maintenance of the controlled gel spillage system (1b.)
Regular maintenance of the silicone tube is recommended to ensure correct
positioning and integrity. Check the tube periodically (every 2 months) to verify
its eciency, i.e. that there are no leaks or encrustations. In case of cleaning or
replacement, it is necessary to loosen the mechanism for fixing the tube to the
spacer stud insert and then remove the tube.
Containment and clean-up procedures
For safe cleaning and maintenance in the event of a gel spill, it is mandatory
to turn o the power switch (8.1.A.) and unplug the power supply cable (8.2.A.)
from the outlet.
Remove all sources of ignition (cigarettes, flames, sparks, etc.) or heat from the
leakage area.
Afterwards, vacuum the spilled product into a appropriate container and
absorb the residues with inert absorbent material.
Sucient ventilation of the area where the leak occurred must be ensured.
For leaks and product spills that have not ignited, water spray can be used to
disperse flammable vapours and protect personnel involved in preventing the
leak.
14 15
Requirements for safe storage
Store only in the original container. Keep containers closed, in a well-ventilated
place, away from direct sunlight. Store in a cool, well-ventilated place, away
from heat, open flames, sparks and other sources of ignition.
HANDLING AND STORAGE
Precautions for safe handling
Keep away from heat, sparks and open flame.
Vapours may ignite with explosion, therefore avoid accumulation by keeping
doors and windows open and ensuring cross ventilation.
Avoid accumulation of electrostatic charges. In the case of large packaging,
connect the totem to a grounding socket during filling operations and wear
antistatic shoes.
Pay attention to handling and transport, because strong agitation and
forceful flow of the liquid in pipes and equipment can lead to the formation
and accumulation of electrostatic charges.
Avoid eating, drinking and smoking during use.
Environmental precautions
Do not allow sanitizing gel to enter drains, surface or ground water.
FIRST AID MEASURES
There are no known cases of injury to personnel involved in the use of the
product. If necessary, take the following general measures:
Inhalation: Transfer the person to fresh air. If breathing ceases, carry out
artificial respiration. Call a doctor immediately.
Ingestion: Seek medical help immediately. Induce vomiting only as directed by
a doctor. Do not give anything by mouth if the person is unconscious.
Eyes and skin: Wash with plenty of water. In case of persistent irritation, seek
medical assistance.
DISPOSAL CONDITIONS
Reuse if possible. Product residues are to be considered as special dangerous
waste. The risk of waste containing some of this substance must be assessed
in accordance with current legislation.
Disposal must be carried out by an authorised waste management company
in accordance with national and, where appropriate, local regulations.
REGULAR CHECKS
It is necessary to periodically check the integrity of the tank (15.) to ensure safe
and ecient use.
It is necessary to periodically check the integrity of the safety tank (see image
1a on page 12) to ensure safe and ecient use.
It is necessary to periodically check the integrity of the grounding of the safety
tank to ensure safe and ecient use.
It is necessary to periodically check the integrity of the gel safety system.

Temperature: 0°C to 40°C
Humidity: 20% to 80% (non-condensing)
2.8 RECOMMENDED ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
FANS MAINTENANCE
In totems equipped with fans (all except J2S Venice), if the upper door (6.) has
to be opened, take care to disconnect the cable connecting the fan(s) to the
power supply before removing the door. This operation should be carried out
by two people. To open the door correctly, open the lock and tilt the door
about 20° from vertical (approximately 10 cm). While one person holds the
door, disconnect the fan connection cable, taking care not to insert fingers or
hair between the fan blades to prevent injury.
