on your purchase of the Johnson Marquis JM60/JM120! Thank you for choosing Johnson Amplification.
The Johnson Marquis JM60 and JM120 are two of the most flexible amplifiers in the world. With 18 high quality amp models, a host of
modulation, pitch shifting, delay, and reverb effects all at your command, the JM60/JM120 are truly in a class by themselves. This user’s
guide is your key to understanding how to get the most out of the JM60/JM120. Please read it carefully and familiarize yourself with the
controls on your amp. You’re sure to have endless hours of audio satisfaction by doing so.
Your Marquis was carefully assembled and packaged at the factory. Before you proceed any further, make sure the following items are
included:

Quick Start
The JM60/JM120 come with 27 pre-programmed factory presets, and 27 user presets. From the factory, the user presets are
exact duplicates of the factory presets. This allows you to experiment without running the risk of losing any of the original
sounds contained in the JM60/JM120.
For those of you who prefer to burn now and read later, we’ve included this Quick Start section to get you up and running.
Making Connections:
Connect your instrument to the input jack on the front panel. If an extension cabinet is to be used (JM60 only), connect an
unshielded speaker cable from the Extension Speaker Output jack on the rear panel to a satellite speaker cabinet (such as the
J112) with a minimum 8 ohm load.
Optional Foot Controller Connections:
Connect the optional J3 footswitch or J8 foot controller to their designated jacks on the rear panel.
Caution: Do not connect anything but the J3 or J8 foot controllers to the JM60/JM120. Doing so may damage the
device.
Apply Power:
Turn the Master Volume on the JM60/JM120 all the way down. Turn the power switch to the on position. Gradually increase the
master volume control to achieve the desired volume.
Select Preset:
Use the Select knob to scroll through the different presets. Once you have found some presets that suit your taste, you can alter
the sounds to your specific needs.
Each of the various effects will have dedicated knobs which will vary the amount of their associated parameters. The Amp section
has a Gain, Treble, Mid, Bass, Presence (JM120 only), and a preset Level knob. The Mod/Pitch effects section has a Speed and
Depth knob (the JM120 includes a Level knob for the Mod/Pitch effects). The Delay section has a Delay Level, and Feedback
knob. The Reverb section has a Level knob. You can adjust any of these parameters to your liking, and remember that you are
not at risk of losing any sounds so, don’t be afraid to experiment.
Hidden Button Accessible Parameters
There are hidden parameters that can be accessed by holding buttons and turning the Select knob. Here is the list of these
programmable parameters:
Noise Gate Threshold -Press and hold current Model button until display flashes “ ” and a number value. This is the gate
threshold and can be adjusted from Off,1-30, A1-A6. Press any button to exit.
Mod/Pitch Effect Level (JM60 only)-Press and hold Mod/Pitch Select Button. While still holding the button, turn the Select
knob. The current effect level is now displayed and can be adjusted. Press any button
to exit.
Delay Time Fine Adjust -Press and hold TapIt button until display starts flashing “ ” and a number value. This is the
delay time. Use the Select knob to adjust the delay time in 10ms increments. Press any button to
exit.

A Guided Tour of the Marquis JM60/JM120
The Front Panel
1. Input - This 1/4” jack is where you connect your instrument to the JM60/JM120.
2. Master Volume - This knob is used to control the overall output volume on the JM60/JM120.
3. Amp Models - These buttons will instantly select one of the 18 different amplifier models that the JM60/JM120 has available. Each press
of one of these buttons will access a different type of amp model. The LED corresponding to the currently selected amp
model will light as these buttons are used.
3a. American - This button will call up one of the 6 different American Amplifier models. The American Amp models include:
Black Face, Tweed, Rectified, Blues Combo, Boutique, and High Gain.
3b. British - This button will call up one of the 6 different British Amplifier models. The British Amp models
include: Class A Clean, Class A Dirty, High Wattage, Master Volume, Modern Gain, and Hot Rod.
3c. Johnson - This button will select one of the 6 Johnson Amplifier models. The Johnson Amp models include: Clean
Tube (a clean combo setting), Crunch Tube (a smoothly overdriven combo), Saturated Tube (an extra gain and
sustain combo), Fuzz (a high gain fuzz distortion), Overdrive (a smooth crunch distortion), and Metal (a high gain
solid state distortion).
4. Amp Controls - These knobs control all of the amplifiers equalization and levels for each preset.
4a. Gain - This knob controls the amount of distortion gain (drive) for each preset.
4b. Treble - This knob is used to increase or decrease the amount of treble enhancement in each preset.
4c. Mid - This knob is used to increase or decrease the amount of mid-range enhancement in each preset.
4d. Bass - This knob is used to increase or decrease the amount of bass enhancement in each preset.
4e. Presence (JM120 only) - This knob is used to adjust the definition or edge for each preset.
4f. Level - This knob is used to adjust the volume level of each preset.
5) Mod/Pitch Select- This button is used to select one of the 6 different types of modulation or pitch shifting effects (9 on the JM120).
Each press of this button will select a different type of effect. The Mod/Pitch effects in the JM60 include Chorus,
Flanger, Phaser, Tremolo, Vibrato and Pitch Shift. The Mod/Pitch effects in the JM120 include Chorus, Flanger,
Phaser, TremoPan, VibroPan, Ring Modulator, Dual Pitch, Dual Detune, and Rotary Speaker Simulator. The LED next
to the currently selected Mod/Pitch effect will light as this button is pressed. Pressing and holding this button will

bypass the effect. If no LED is lit, the effect is bypassed. To access the Mod/Pitch Level on the JM60, press and hold
the Select button. While still holding the button, begin turning the Select knob. Release the Select button and now
you can adjust the currently selected Mod/Pitch effect level to your liking. Press any button to exit.
6) Delay Select- This button will select the type of delay module being used. Each press of this button will select a new type of
delay module. The delay types include Analog, Delay, and Ping Pong. The LED next to the currently selected
delay type will light as this button is used. Pressing and holding this button will bypass the Delay effect. If no LED is lit, the
effect is bypassed
7) Tap It - This button is used to set the delay time of the delay effect. Tapping this button in tempo with the music will synchronize the
delay repeats with the tempo of the song. Pressing and holding this button will access the Delay Time fine adjust parameter.
Using the Select knob, you can adjust the Delay time in 10ms increments (100 ms when the delay time exceeds 1 second).
Press any button to exit.
8) Reverb Select- This button is used to select one of the 3 different types of reverb. Each press of this button will select a next type of
reverb module. The reverb types include Hall, Plate, and Spring. The LED next to the currently selected reverb type will
light as this button is used. Pressing and holding this button will bypass the effect. If no LED is lit, the effect is bypassed.
9) Numeric Display - This two digit display indicates the currently active Bank and Preset. There are 27 user presets and 27 factory
presets in the JM60/JM120 arranged in 9 banks with 3 different presets in each bank. The first digit in the display
will show the bank number and the second digit shows whether channel 1, 2, or 3 is selected. A decimal point in
the lower right hand corner of the display indicates a factory preset is active.
10) Manual - This button is used to activate the current position of all knobs on the front panel. In other words, the front panel
knob positions will not necessarily reflect the sound of a preset until the Manual button has been pressed. Once
the Manual button is pressed, the sound will correspond to the value of the knobs.
11) Store - This button is used to store your custom settings to one of the user preset locations. The store button will light when changes
have been made to a preset indicating that changes will be lost if they are not stored.
12) Speed - In general, this knob will adjust the speed of the modulation effect. However, it is also used to adjust other parameters
depending on the type of effect that has been chosen. See pages 12-14 for a complete list of the parameters controlled for
each type of effect.
13) Depth - In general, this knob will adjust the depth, or intensity of the modulation effect. However, it is also used to adjust other
parameters depending on the type of effect that has been chosen. See pages 12-14 for a complete list of the parameters
controlled for each type of effect.
14) Level (JM120 only) - This knob adjusts the volume level of the modulation and pitch shift effect.
15) Delay Level - This knob adjusts the volume level of the delay effect.
16) Feedback - This knob will adjust the number of delay repeats.
17) Reverb - This knob adjusts the volume level of the reverb effect.
18) Select - This knob is used to change from one preset to another. It will scroll through all available presets in both the user
and factory banks. Once you have scrolled through the user presets it will shift to the factory presets. If you
continue to turn the knob, it will “wrap around” to the user presets again.
19) Power Switch (JM120 only) - Engages or disengages power.

The Rear Panel
1) Power Switch (JM60 only) - Engages or disengages power.
2) Power Receptacle - Connect the detachable power cord to this jack. The rectangular drawer under the receptacle is the
fuse holder. Use only the fuse size and rating as specified on the back of your amp. A spare fuse is located in a
second pocket of this drawer
3) J8 Foot Controller Jack - This 5 pin din jack is for connecting the optional Johnson J8 foot controller only.THIS IS NOT A
MIDI CONNECTION . Connecting a MIDI device to this jack could damage the device.
4) J3 Footswitch Jack - This jack is for connecting the optional Johnson J3 footswitch. The J3 must use a TRS stereo cable for
connection.
5) External Speaker Jack (JM60 only) - This is a powered output for connecting the J112 external speaker cabinet. Connecting an
extra speaker cabinet must be done in order to utilize the JM60’s stereo capabilities. A
minimum speaker load of 8 Ωs is required.
6) Headphone Jack - This stereo TRS jack is used to connect a pair of stereo headphones. It can also be used as a speaker
compensated direct out for direct to mixing console connections.
7) Speaker On/Off Switch - This switch enables or disables the internal speaker on the JM60/JM120 for those times when
you do not want the speaker active such as during direct recording.
8) Loop Return - This stereo TRS jack is used to connect from the outputs of an external effect device to the JM60/JM120. It is a
stereo input to the stereo power amp within the Marquis. Connecting a mono cable will provide just a mono
return, and effects in the loop will only be heard from the internal speaker.
9) Loop Send - This stereo TRS jack is used to connect from the JM60/JM120 to the inputs of an external effect device. It is a post
preamp, post effects stereo output. *
* Note: The effect loop of the Marquis JM60/JM120 is designed for use with rack mount effects only. The output level may
not be suitable for pedal type effects and may overdrive their input stage.

About the Marquis JM60/JM120
The Johnson Marquis JM60 and JM120 are truly two of the most flexible amplifiers in the world. They put 18 different amp models at your
finger tips eliminating the need for several different amps in order to get different tones. In addition to all of this tonal versatility, the
JM60/JM120 include an effects section offering up to three effects at once. Use these to add color and flavor to your sound. For ease of
operation, the JM60/JM120 have been divided in to two sections: the Amp and the Effects sections.
Amp Section
The amp section of the JM60/JM120 is located on the left half of the faceplate. It is comprised of 18 different amplifier models which can be
instantly accessed by the press of any of the three amp model buttons. Each successive press of the same button will select the next amp type
within that particular modeling group. The Amp section also includes the same type of gain and tone controls that you would find on typical
amplifiers. These controls are the master volume, gain, treble, mid, bass, presence (only on the JM120) and level controls. These buttons
and knobs all work in conjunction with each other to provide you with your basic tone.
Effects Section
The effects section of the JM60/JM120 is on the right half of the faceplate. It includes the Mod/Pitch, the Delay, and the Reverb. Each
successive press of the Select button of a given effect group will select the next type of effect within that group. All of these effects have
dedicated knobs which adjust various aspects of the related effects. Any of the three effects may be individually bypassed by pressing and
holding the corresponding Select button.
Performance Mode
When the JM60/JM120 is first powered up, the numeric display (on the far right corner) will indicate the currently active Bank and Preset
number. The current amp model and active effect types will be indicated by their respective LEDs. All knobs and buttons are available for
modifying the current program. However, the knobs do not necessarily reflect the actual setting of the corresponding effect. After turning any
knob at least one whole number, the related parameter will reflect the knob’s new setting.

Getting Started
Making Connections
The JM60 and JM120 include the necessary options to adapt to a variety of different set up applications. The following diagrams outline a
few of these set up options.
Plug and Play
The JM60/JM120 come ready to play from the factory. Just connecting your guitar to the input is the only connection required to get great
sounds. Be aware that on the JM60, this is just a mono connection, and that there are other options available to you.
Stereo Operation
Running the Marquis in stereo will add a thicker texture, and more lush sound to your instrument. The JM60 has an external speaker
connector located on the rear panel. This is a powered output, which provides an additional 60 Watts of power for connection of a satellite
speaker cabinet such as the J112. Connecting a speaker to this jack will automatically put the JM60 in stereo mode and provide stereo
imaging to your effects.
WARNING: THE EXTERNAL SPEAKER CABINET MUST BE A MINIMUM 8 OHM LOAD.
The JM120 is already configured in stereo mode, and therefore, does not include an option of connecting a satellite speaker cabinet.

Direct Output
The JM60/JM120's headphone outputs provide speaker compensated stereo direct outputs for connecting to a recording console, or a house
PA system. This type of a set up allows you to deliver your sound to the mixer without the use (or ambient noise) of a microphone. To
access the stereo direct out signal, you need to use a stereo Y cord with a TRS male 1/4” plug. Connect the male TRS plug to the headphone
jack on the JM60/JM120. Then connect each end of the Y to individual channels on the mixer. You may still utilize the speaker on the
Marquis while running direct, or you can disengage the speaker with the Speaker on/off switch located on the rear panel of the amp.
Footswitch Connections
The Marquis JM60/JM120 provide two foot control options, the J3 and/or the J8. On the rear panel you will find a single TRS jack for
connecting the optional J3 footswitch. You will also find a single 5 pin DIN jack for use with the optional J8 foot controller. To use either,
simply use the cable provided with each and connect from the single output of the footswitch to the corresponding controller jack on the
JM60/JM120. Each of these foot switches provide different options which will be discussed later in this manual.
Warning: Do not connect any footswitch other than the J3 or J8. Doing so may damage the device.

Powering the JM60/JM120
Once the necessary connections have been made, turn the master volume on the JM60/JM120 all the way down. Turn the power switch to the
“on” position. Begin playing the guitar and gradually increase the Master Volume until the desired level is achieved.
Selecting a Preset
When you first turn your Marquis JM60/JM120 on, you will be in performance mode, and will default to the last preset that had been used.
This preset number will be indicated in the numeric display. The JM60/JM120 comes with 27 pre-programmed factory presets, and 27 user
presets. From the factory, the user presets are exact duplicates of the factory presets. This allows you to experiment without running the risk
of losing any of the original sounds contained in the JM60/JM120.
To select a preset, simply rotate the Select knob located on the far right side of the front panel. The numeric display will change with each
click of the Select knob to indicate the current preset.
Editing a Preset
The Marquis JM60/JM120 has made creating presets very simple. The layout of the amp and processor on the front panel makes editing as
easy as pushing a button, or turning a knob. All functions are shown on the front panel simultaneously.
Selecting an Amp Model
The amp models of the JM60/JM120 have been divided in to three different groups. Each group has 6 LEDs defining the model, and one
Model button which allows you to choose any amp model within that group. Repetitive presses of one group’s Model button will advance
through each of the 6 models within that group. To select a different group, simply use the Model button for the desired modeling group.
Amp Models
The three groups of amp models in the Marquis JM60/JM120 are American, British, and Johnson. Each of these groups have their own
Model button used to choose one of the 6 amp models within that group. The amp models within in each group are as follows:
American -The American Amp models include Black Face based on a ‘65 Fender Twin Reverb, Tweed based on a ‘57 Fender Tweed
Deluxe, Rectified based on a Mesa Dual Rectifier, Blues Combo based on a Fender Twin tone with Vox tone controls, Boutique based on a
Matchless DC30, and High Gain based on a Soldano SLO.

British -The British Amp models include Class A Clean based on a Vox AC30 (clean gain), Class A Dirty based on a Vox AC30 (dirty gain),
High Wattage based on a High Watt S50LC, Master Volume based on a Marshall Master Volume, Modern Gain based on a Marshall JCM900,
and Hot Rod based on a modified Marshall Master Volume.
Johnson -The Johnson Amp models include Clean Tube (a clean combo setting), Crunch Tube (a smoothly overdriven combo), Saturated
Tube (an extra gain and sustain combo), Fuzz (a high gain fuzz distortion), Overdrive (a smooth crunch distortion), and Metal (a high gain
solid state distortion).

Editing an Amp Model
Once you have selected the amplifier model that you intend to use, you can edit the gain and tonal characteristics of that amp, as well as
assigning a volume level (Level knob) for the preset. This is done through the use of the amp knobs (5 on the JM60, 6 on the JM120)
located under the amp modeling groups.
Amp Controls
The amp control section consists of a Gain, Treble, Mid, Bass, Presence (JM120 only) and Level knob. These knobs adjust the amp models
Gain, EQ, and Level. Each amp model has a default knob setting when it is selected. When you first select an amp model, the knobs will not
necessarily reflect the current values associated with the sound you are hearing. In other words, the amp does not “look” at the current
setting of the knob when an amp model is first selected. Once a knob is turned at least one whole number, the amp will update the sound to
reflect that knobs current position for the sound you hear. The following is a description of each knobs function.
Gain -This knob controls the amount of distortion gain (drive) for each preset.
Treble -This knob is used to increase, or decrease the amount of high frequency enhancement in each preset.
Mid -This knob is used to increase, or decrease the amount of mid-range enhancement in each prese
Bass - This knob is used to increase, or decrease the amount of low frequency enhancement in each preset.
Presence (JM120 only) - This knob is used to increase, or decrease the amount of definition or edge in each preset.
Level -This knob is used to adjust the volume level of each preset. This adjustment differs from the Master Volume in as much as the
master volume will increase, or decrease all presets. The level knob will only increase or decrease the volume of its associated pre
set.
Noise Gate
The JM60/JM120 include a noise gate with an adjustable threshold. A noise gate is used to eliminate hum and noise while you are not
playing. The Noise Gate threshold is the only parameter available for adjustment. The Threshold is basically the strength, or volume level at
which the gate will open or close. When your signal exceeds the threshold, the gate will open allowing sound to be heard. When your signal
falls below the threshold, the gate closes allowing nothing to come through. The ideal setting for the threshold is to have it open as soon as
you strike a string, and close when you stop playing.

Adjusting the Gate Threshold
1. Press and hold the Model button of the currently active modeling group. The numeric display will momentarily show “ ”, followed by
the current threshold numeric value.
2. Turning the Select knob will change the gate threshold value. The threshold is adjustable from 1 to 30, and A1-A6. Higher threshold
values require stronger signals to open the gate. A1-A6 are auto swell gates. A1 through A3 are low threshold with varying times, and A4
through A6 are high threshold with varying times. Using these creates an automatic volume pedal type attack of the signal.
3. Press the same Model button again to exit the gate threshold edit mode.
Note: The gate threshold adjustments that are made must be stored to each preset. See page 16 for more on storing a
preset.
Editing Effects
The Marquis JM60/JM120 offer several effects to help complete your sound. There are three different groups of effects in the Marquis. You
can use one modulation/pitch shifting effect, one delay effect, and one reverb effect at the same time. You have the choice of 6 different
modulation or pitch shifting effects on the JM60 and 9 on the JM120, 3 different delays, and 3 different reverbs.
Selecting Effects
When a preset is selected on the JM60/JM120, the effects that are active in the preset will be indicated by the LEDs for each effect group.
Each of the three effects may be bypassed by pressing and holding down the Select button corresponding to the effect group that you wish to
bypass. Likewise, if an effect group is bypassed, you may engage that effect group by pressing the Select button once. Each successive press
of the button will advance through all effect types available within that effect group.
JM60 Mod/Pitch Effects Group
The Mod/Pitch effects group in the JM60 includes Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Tremolo, Vibrato and Pitch Shifting. Only one of these effects can
be used at a time. To select an effect from the Mod/Pitch group, press the Mod/Pitch Select button until the LED next to the desired effect
lights up. The effect indicated is now active. The Mod/Pitch effects may be bypassed by pressing an holding the Mod/Pitch Select button
down. To disengage bypass, simply press the Select button again. All of the Mod/Pitch effects have three parameters that may be edited. The
level of the Mod/Pitch effects can be adjusted by pressing and holding the Mod/Pitch Select button down, and then using the Select knob to
increase or decrease the effect level. The following is a description of each of the Mod/Pitch effects and the available parameters:

Chorus
A chorus is an effect that splits the incoming signal, and adds a short delay to one half of the signal. This short delay time (determined by the
depth control) is then “modulated”, which is to say that it speeds up and slows down the delay. The changing delay time takes the delayed
signal in and out of tune with the original signal. This tends to make the guitar sound thicker and sweeter.
Speed -The speed knob will adjust how fast the chorus will modulate.
Depth -The depth knob will adjust the intensity of the chorus effect.
Flanger
A flanger is an effect that splits the incoming signal, and adds a short delay to one half of the signal. This short delay time then speeds up and
slows down at a steady, even pace. The difference between a chorus and a flanger is that a flanger uses a shorter delay time than a chorus,
and a flanger adds several repeats to this short delay time. This gives the guitar a defined up and down sweeping, or whooshing sound.
Speed -The speed knob will adjust how fast the flanger will sweep up and down.
Depth -The depth knob will adjust the overall intensity of the flanger effect.
Phaser
A phaser is an effect that splits the incoming signal, and then changes the phasing of one the signals. This signal is then modulated in and
out of phase and mixed back in with the original signal. This causes certain frequencies to be cancelled. As the phasing changes, different
frequencies get canceled resulting in a warm sort of twisting sound.
Speed -The speed knob adjusts how fast the phase is being changed.
Depth -The depth knob adjusts the intensity of the phasing effect.
Tremolo
A tremolo is an effect that modulates the volume of the incoming signal at a steady, even pace. The incoming signal will go back and forth,
getting louder and softer. It would be kind of like having a motor on your guitars volume knob which increased and decreased the volume at
an even rate. Tremolo Level is not available on the JM60.
Speed -The speed knob adjusts how fast the volume will fluctuate.
Depth -The depth knob will adjust the intensity of the volume fluctuation
Vibrato
A vibrato is an effect that modulates the frequency, or pitch of the entire incoming signal. This will take the whole signal slightly in and out of
tune at a steady pace. Vibrato Level is not available on the JM60.
Speed -The speed knob adjusts how fast the signal is being modulated.
Depth -The depth knob adjusts the amount of pitch change.
Pitch/Detune
Pitch shifting is an effect that will make a copy of your incoming signal, and then shift the pitch of the copy to a different note. This results in
harmony. As you play one note the pitch shifter is simultaneously playing a note higher, or lower with you. It’s like having another guitarist
in the band. The detune is an effect that can be added to the shifted pitch to take it slightly out of tune to make it sound more as if it were
really two guitarists, similar to a chorus type effect.
Speed -The speed knob adjusts the interval of the pitch shifter. It will determine how far above or below the input note
the shifted pitch will be.
Depth -The depth knob adjusts the amount of detune.

JM120 Mod/Pitch Effects Group
The Modulation and Pitch Shifting effects group in the JM120 differs from that of the JM60. There are 9 effects to choose from in the JM120,
and there is one additional knob for adjusting parameters in the group. The Mod/Pitch effects group in the JM120 includes Chorus, Flange,
Phaser, Tremopan, Vibropan, Ring Modulator, Pitch, Detune, and Rotary Speaker Simulator. Like the Mod/Pitch effects group on the JM60,
only one of these effects can be used at a time. To select an effect from the Mod/Pitch group, press the Mod/Pitch Select button until the LED
next to the desired effect lights up. The effect indicated is now active. The Mod/Pitch effects may be bypassed by pressing an holding the
Select button down. To disengage the bypass, simply press the Select button again. All of the Mod/Pitch effects in the JM120 have three
parameters that may be edited. The following is a description of each of the Mod/Pitch effects and the available parameters:

TremoPan
A tremolo is an effect that modulates the volume of the incoming signal at a steady, even pace. The incoming signal will go back and forth,

an even rate. The TremoPan incorporates an automatic panner with the tremolo effect. The panner shifts the signal back and forth from left
to right.

Level -The Level control adjusts the amount of panning incorporated with the tremolo effect. When the "Level" control is at "1",
this effect is a standard tremolo. As the "Level" control is turned up, the phase difference of the tremolo signal sent to the
two speakers is increased until at "10" the speakers turn on and off alternately creating a panner effect.
VibroPan
A vibrato is an effect that modulates the frequency, or pitch of the entire incoming signal. This will take the whole signal slightly in and out of
tune at a steady pace. The Vibropan incorporates an automatic panner with the vibrato effect. The panner shifts the signal back and forth
from left to right.
Speed -The speed knob adjusts how fast the signal is being modulated.
Depth -The depth knob adjusts the amount of pitch change.
Level -The Level control adjusts the amount of panning incorporated with the vibrato effect. When the "Level" control is at "1", this
effect is a standard vibrato. As the "Level" control is turned up, the phase difference of the vibrato signal sent to the two
speakers is changed so that a full stereo image is obtained at "10".

Ring Modulator
A ring modulator combines two signals and outputs frequencies that are the sum and difference of the two input frequencies. As
implemented in the JM120, one input signal is your guitar tone, the other is a sine wave. This is a non-harmonic effect and the user will have
to experiment with the controls to get a feel for what they do.
Speed -The speed knob controls the frequency of the sine wave.
Depth -The Depth knob determines the stereo spread between the two speakers.
Level -The Level knob determines the amount of the second frequency mixed with your guitar tone.
Dual Pitch Shift
Dual Pitch shifting is an effect that will make two copies of your incoming signal, and then shift the pitch of the copies to different notes. This
results in three part harmony. As you play one note the pitch shifter is simultaneously playing notes higher, or lower with you. It’s like
having two more guitarists in the band.
Speed -The speed knob adjusts how far above or below the input note the first shifted pitch will be.
Depth -The depth knob adjusts how far above or below the input note the second shifted pitch will be.
Level - The level knob adjusts the mix of both shifted pitches. This can range from 1 (no shift) to 10 (shift only).
Detune
Dual Detune is an effect that will make two copies of your incoming signal, then shifting the pitch of one slightly above, and the other
slightly below the original pitch. This creates a thicker sound similar to a chorus effect without the modulation.
Speed -The speed knob determines the detune applied to the one speaker (adjustable from 0 to -20 cents).
Depth -The depth knob determines the detune applied to the other speaker (adjustable from 0 to +20 cents).
Level - The level knob determines the amount of detune in both speakers from 0 - 100%.
Rotary Speaker
The Rotary Speaker effect creates a doppler type effect associated with a rotating speaker. The rotation of a speaker changes the panning of
the sound as well as the pitch simultaneously. As the sound comes toward the listener, it is a slightly higher pitch then when the sound is
going away from the listener. The speed of the rotation accelerates and decelerates over a short time span rather than instantly which is part
of the effect. The speed of the rotation may be switched by the last knob adjusted, or through the use of the Mod switch on the J8 Foot
Controller. By pressing the Mod switch on the J8, you can toggle between the slow and fast speeds. The Rotary Speaker LED on the JM120
will blink in accordance to the speed setting. If the speed knob is at the minimum setting (1), the Rotary Speaker effect is bypassed. The
Mod switch on the J8 can then be used to toggle the effect between off, and fast.
Speed -The speed knob determines the slow speed setting. With this knob set to the minimum (all the way down) the effect is
bypassed and the LED goes out.
Depth -The depth knob determines the fast speed setting.
Level - The level knob determines the mix between dry signal and rotary effect.
Delay Effects Group
The Marquis JM60/JM120 include three different delay types to choose from. Each successive press of the Delay Select button will access the
next type of delay. The delay choices include Analog, Delay (full band width digital), and Ping Pong. Two parameters associated with the
delay can be edited with the delay knobs, and the delay time can be set by using the Tap It button. Pressing and holding the Delay Select
button down will bypass the delay. The following is a description of each delay type, and the parameters:

Analog
Analog delay was the method originally used to electronically duplicate a tape delay. It is characterized by the way each repeat degrades or
deteriorates from the original input signal.
Delay
Delay is an effect that will record a portion of the incoming signal, and then play it back a short time later. It can repeat the recording
several times, or just once. This type of effect is also referred to as an echo because it basically echoes the original signal. This is a full band
width digital delay with no degradation of repeats.
Ping Pong
A ping pong delay is an effect that will record a portion of the incoming signal, and then repeat the recording a short time later. When it
replays the recorded signal, the repeats will bounce from side to side (in stereo). This is why it is called ping pong, because the repeats will
go back and forth from side to side.
Delay -Adjusts the volume of the delay effect.
Feedback -Adjusts how many times the delay will repeat the signal.
Tap It -The Tap It button is used to set the delay time, or the amount of time between repeats. Tapping this button in time with
the music will align the repeats of the delay in synchronization with the beat of the music. Pressing and holding the Tap It
button down for a few seconds will select the fine tune adjustment of the delay time using the Select knob. Press any
button to exit.
Reverb Effects Group
The Marquis JM60/JM120 have three different reverb types to choose from. Each successive press of the Reverb Select button will advance to
the next type of reverb. The reverb effect may be bypassed by pressing and holding the Reverb Select button down. The only adjustable
parameter for the reverb effect group is the level. The following is a description of each reverb type:
