INTEJAN (HOT WATER) CIRCULATOR
USER INSTRUCTIONS

PERSONS, (i.e. CORGI REGISTERED INSTALLERS) IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE GAS SAFETY
(INSTALLATION AND USE) REGULATIONS (CURRENT EDITION). FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THESE
REGULATIONSMAYRESULTINPROSECUTION.
1. TO LIGHTYOURCIRCULATOR
1.1 Ensure that the gas and water supplies to the heater are
turned on.
1.2 Set both the “AIR HEATER” and “WATER HEATER”
switches on the time control to the “OFF” position.
1.3 Set the thermostat (see para. 3).
1.4 Switch on the electrical supply to the heater.
1.5 Set the “WATER HEATER” switch on the time control
to “CONT”After a period of 15-20 seconds the burner
will ignite automatically, indicated by the green LED
light marked ‘ON’ on the indicator panel (see Fig. 2).
1.6 The water heater will now operate automatically under
thermostatic control.
1.7 If the burner does not ignite the first time, the red LED
lightmarked ‘LOCKOUT’willlight. If this should occur,
check that the gas supply to the appliance is turned on,
wait approximately 10 seconds and then press the
button marked ‘RESET’ to re-initiate the ignition
sequence.
1.8 If, after carrying out the above instructions several
times, the green light fails to remain lit, contact your
local service engineer.
2. TO STOPYOUR CIRCULATOR
2.1 For short periods, e.g. weekends:
Turn the “WATER HEATER” switch to the “OFF”
position, this will cause the burner to extinguish. When
you require the circulator on again, turn to Water Heater
switch to the “ON” position.

WHATISTHE INTEJAN
CIRCULATOR?
YourIntejanCirculatorisanintegralhotwater
heaterdesignedtoprovidedomestic hot
water. Thewatertemperature iscontrolled by
athermostat inthe appliance.Whilst the
Circulatorisintegral,itsoperation istotally
independantoftheWarmAir Heater,thereby
providinghot waterduringperiodswhenthe
AirHeateris notbeingused, orisbeing used
inaircirculationmode.
Note:
The viewing port of the heater (and its surroundings) get VERY hot during use. Care MUSTbe taken to avoid contact which may
result in severe burn injury!

2.2 For longer periods, e.g. a week or summer shutdown.
Turn the Water Heater switch to the “OFF” position and
then turn off the electricity supply to the heater.
3. TEMPERATURECONTROL
3.1 Remove the front cover from theAir Heater in
order to gain access to the thermostat.
3.2 The thermostat temperature can be set at any
point between +50oC and +82oC by rotating the
thermostat knob.
3.3 We recommend that you start at a mid point and
slowy increase the setting until a satisfactory
temerature is reached. NOTE: BECAUSE THE
CIRCULATORHEATSTHE CONTENTS OFTHE
HOTWATER CYLINDER,THEREWILLBE
SOMEDELAYBETWEENANYCHANGEMADE
ANDACHANGE INTHETEMPERATUREOFTHE
HOTWATER
4. TIMECONTROLOPERATION
4.1 In addition to continuous operation, the Time Control
will provide 24 hour timed operation of the circulator in
15 minutes increments (1 tappet). “On” periods are set
by moving the required number of tappets in towards
the centre of the dial. For example, a 4 hour “on” period
will require 16 tappets set to the “on” position at the
required time.
5. MAINTENANCE
7.1 It is recommended that a full maintenance check on
your appliance be made at least once a year and that a
service contract is taken at the end of the guarantee
period.Your local gas supplier will be able to provide
details of arrangements for this service.
IMPORTANT
FORYOUR HEATERTOWORKEFFICIENTLYANDFORYOUR HEATINGSYSTEMTOPERFORM
SATISFACTORILY, IT ISABSOLUTELY ESSENTIALTO OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING:
1. DOKEEPCLEAN,andmakesure youDONOTOBSTRUCTany grillesontheheater,intheheatercompartment,orin
any walls,windowsordoorsofthebuilding.
3. DONOTPLACEANYTHING(clothing,linenetc.)incontactwiththeheateroritsfluepipe.
4. DONOTUSEtheheater compartmentforstorageorairing.

Note: This appliance SHOULD be checked and
maintained periodically by a qualified professional
orcompetent person.
6. POWER CUTS
6.1 If you experience an electrical power cut your circulator
will cease to operate. When the electrical supply is
restored, the heater will work normally but the Time
Control WILL require resetting.
7. TROUBLESHOOTING
7.1 Check that the thermostat and Time Control are set
correctly to your requirements .
7.2 IftheLOCKOUTislit, wait for approximately 10
seconds and then press the RESET button.
7.3 If the circulator will still not operate correctly, contact
your local service engineer.
Servicearrangements:
a. For new dwellings, servicing is usually supplied
for a specific period under arrangements made by
the building contractor.
b. LocalAuthorities often have their own special
arrangements.
c. If the above do not apply, contact your local
service engineer, or the Service department at
Johnson & Starley Ltd.
8. IFYOUSMELLGAS
DO NOT operate any electrical switches, or use a
naked flame.
TURN OFFthe gas supply.
VENTILATE the area by opening doors and
windows.
CALLOUT your local gas supplier.
NOTE:Ifyouareawareof,orsuspect,afaultOFANYKIND
theheaterMUSTNOTbeused.Turnoffthegasandelectri-
calsuppliestotheheaterandcontactyourserviceengineer!
