INSTALLATION

Wiring

SUPPLY TO THE REPEATER BEFORE YOU
MAKE THE WIRING CONNECTIONS.
Allwiringislowvoltageandshouldbein
accordancewithlocalregulationsandthe
NationalElectricalCode.
Useshieldedcableonlywhenitisrequired.
Mostapplicationsdonotrequireshielding
andwillbenefitfromunshieldedcable.

Whenusingtheoptionalshieldedcable,
groundonlyoneendoftheshield. Low
voltagecontrolwiringshouldnotberunin
thesameconduitaslinevoltagewiringor
otherconductorsthatsupplyhighly-
inductiveloads(suchascontactors,coils,
motors,generators,etc.).

22AWG, Stranded: Belden #8443 (3-wire),
8444 (4-wire), 8445 (5-wire)
18AWG, Stranded: Belden #8489(4-wire),

To Wire the Repeater:
The terminal block slides into the slot on the
right side of the board. Refer to Figure 2.
1. Orient the terminal block as if you will
mount it on the board.
2. Wire the two Net A wires in the top
two positions of the terminal block.
3. Connect the ground wire via the third
screw on the terminal block.
4. Connect the 24VAC hot wire to the
forth terminal screw.
5. Wire the two Net B wires into the
bottom two positions of the terminal
block.
NOTE: Network wiring is polarity inde-
pendent, but the drawing indicates
Net - and Net + to accommodate the
conventions of circuitry design.

To mount the repeater:
1. The repeater board comes factory installed
in the repeater box. See Figure 3 for
dimensions. Mount the box in an
appropriate place using the two mounting
holes.
2. Remove the four screws holding the
repeaterbox cover.Remove thecover.
3. Remove the terminal block from the
repeater board and attach the appropriate
networkand power wires according to
Figure 2.
4. Reinsert the terminal block.
5. Verify that the jumpers are set correctly. The
factory setting is bus topology for both Net
A and Net B. See Figure 4.
6. Reinstall the repeater box cover and its
four mounting screws.
