Safety Precautions
Preparation
Use this evice in mo erate climates.
Please rea the following recommen e
safety precautions carefully for your safety.
1.Power Source
The TV set shoul be operate only from a
220-240 V AC, 50 Hz outlet. Ensure that you
select the correct voltage setting for your con-
venience.
2.Power Cord
Do not place the set, a piece of furniture, etc.
on the power cor (mains lea ) or pinch the
cor . Han le the power cor by the plug. Do
not pull out the plug by tugging the cor an
never touch the power cor when your han s
are wet as this coul cause a short circuit or
electric shock. Never make a knot in the cor
or tie it with other cor s. The power cor s
shoul be place in such a way that they are
not likely to be steppe on. A amage power
cor can cause fire or give you an electric
shock. When it is amage an nee s to be
change , it shoul be one by qualifie per-
sonnel.
3.Moisture and Water
Do not use this evice in a humi an amp
place (avoi the bathroom, the sink in the
kitchen, an near the washing machine). Do
not expose this equipment to rain or water, as
this may be angerous an o not place ob-
jects fille with liqui s, such as flower vases,
on top. Avoi from ripping or splashing.
If any soli object or liqui falls into the cabi-
net, unplug the TV an have it checke by quali-
fie personnel before operating it any further.
4.Cleaning
Before cleaning, unplug the TV set from the
wall outlet. Do not use liqui or aerosol clean-
ers. Use soft an ry cloth.
5. Ventilation
The slots an openings on the TV set are in-
ten e for ventilation an to ensure reliable
operation. To prevent overheating, these open-
ings must not be blocke or covere in any-
way.
6. Heat and Fla es
The set shoul not be place near to open
flames an sources of intense heat, such as
an electric heater. Ensure that no nake flame
sources, such as lighte can les, are place
on top of the TV. Batteries shall not be expose
to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or
the like.
7. Lightning
In case of storm an lightning or when going
on holi ay, isconnect the power cor from
the wall outlet.
8. Replace ent Parts
When replacement parts are require , be sure
the service technician has use replacement
parts which are specifie by the manufacturer
or have the same specifications as the origi-
nal one. Unauthorize substitutions may re-
sult in fire, electrical shock, or other hazar s.
9. Servicing
Please refer all servicing to qualifie person-
nel. Do not remove the cover yourself as this
may result in an electric shock.
10. Waste Disposal
Instructions for waste isposal:

installation instructions when mounte to the
wall (if the option is available).

MAINS (AC) OPERATION
The wires in this mains lea are coloure in
accor ance with the following co e :

BROWN-LIVE
As the colours of the wires in the mains lea
of this appliance may not correspon with
the coloure markings i entifying the
terminals in your plug, procee as follows:
The wire which is coloure blue must be
connecte to the terminal which is marke
with the letter N or coloure black.
The wire which is coloure brown must be
connecte to the terminal which is marke
with the letter L or coloure re .
No connection is to be ma e to the earth
terminal of the plug.
If a 13 Amp (BS 1363) Plug is use a 5 Amp
Fuse must be fitte , or if any other type of
Plug is use a 5 Amp Fuse must be fitte ,

Information for Users on Disposal of Old Equipment
CAUTION:
Securely plug the power cor into an AC outlet to avoi electric shock or amage to the unit.
Make enough room for inserting an removing the power plug. Place the TV as close to the
outlet as possible. The main power supply for this TV is controlle by inserting or removing
the power plug.
The power switch on the right si e of the TV oes not fully isolate the TV from the main
power supply.
If you o not use this TV for a long perio of time, be sure to isconnect the power plug from
the AC outlet.

Where to install
WARNING
Only use a VESA 200x400 compatible mounting unit(optional) when installing this TV on the
wall.
Make sure the TV is installed on the wall by a skilled installer.
Locate the TV away from irect sunlight an strong lights, soft, in irect lighting is recommen e
for comfortable viewing. Place on a stur y platform, the mounting surface shoul be flat an
stea y, it shoul then be secure to the wall with a stur y tie using the hook on the back of the
TV, this will prevent it from falling over. Use curtains or blin s to prevent irect sunlight falling on
the screen.
A floor an table top stan are available for this television, or an angle bracket which enables
the TV to be wall-mounte .
The LCD isplay panels are manufacture using an extremely high level of precision technol-
ogy, however sometimes some parts of the screen may be missing picture elements or have
luminous spots. This is not a sign of a malfunction.
Make sure the TV is locate in a position where it cannot be pushe or hit by objects, as
pressure will break or amage the screen.
Leave off the cover of the rear of the TV when mounting the TV on the wall.
Distance Reco endation
Install the TV on soli horizontal surface such as a table or esk.
For ventilation, leave a space of at least 10 cm free all aroun the set. To prevent any fault an
unsafe situations, please o not place any objects on top of the set.

still images, or moving pictures which have a

Getting Started
Follow Step 1 to 7 to set up your TV:
Step 1: Checking the accessories supplied
Remote control unit x 1
AA/R6 battery x 2
Step 2: Inserting atteries
Remove the battery cover locate on the back of the remote control by gently pulling upwar s
from the in icate part.
Insert two AA/R6 ry cell or equivalent type of batteries insi e.
Replace the battery cover.
NOTE: Remove the batteries from remote control when it is not to be used for a long
period.Otherwise it can be damaged due to any leakage of battery.
Old batteries must be disposed in a designated area. If performance of the remote control
reduces, replace the batteries with the correct type. Do not combine a used, old battery or a new
one or mixed battery types. Remove dead batteries immediately to prevent acid from leaking
into the battery compartment.

The stan can be remove by loosing the screws with a screw river when mounting the TV on
a wall.
Sprea a soft cloth on a flat table an then place the TV on the cloth with the screen facing
ownwar s when you remove the stan .
Leave off the cover over the CI slot of the TV before mounting the TV on the wall.
Step 3: Connecting the Aerial
It is necessary to connect aerial to watch TV. You can connect the aerial to your TV as illustrate
below.
Please see Peripheral Equipment Connections section for connections to other evices.

Initial Settings
If the TV will not be turne on, press the stan by
button on the remote control.
When the TV is first turne on, it goes into the
initial settings mo e. Follow the instructions
on the screen isplay to make the initial set-
tings.
Note: If the TV does not go into the initial settings mode this
is because your TV has already been turned on for the first
time. (Perform the initial settings with INSTALLATION
(see page 25) in the DTV menu and APS (Analogue) (see
page 30) in the INSTALL menu.)
Because this is the first time that DTV(Digital
terrestrial broa casting (DVB-T)) has been
use , there are no channels store in the
memory an below information will be is-
playe on the screen.
1. Press the OK button to start the auto-
matic search.

The DTV will automatically tune to the UHF
transmission channels 21 to 68 looking for
igital terrestrial TV broa casts an isplay-
ing the names of channels foun . This pro-
cess will take about five minutes. To cancel
searching, you can press MENU button at any
time uring the process.
HINT: Depen ing on the reception con itions
in your particular area, you may fin that the
list of channels foun inclu es one or more
repeate names. This is because the receiver
may etect an store some channels, inclu -
ing those it cannot receive clearly, from a ja-
cent areas alongsi e the strong channels from
a transmitter nearby. This is not a problem
an the weaker channels can be elete from
the receiver later, as escribe in - E it PR
List section.

When the automatic search has finished,
the EDIT PR LIST menu appears.
If you want to, you can now e it the
programme numbers (PR) using the EDIT
PR LIST function. For etails, see E it PR
List section.
If you o not want to e it programme num-
bers (PR), go to the next step.

When you cancel the AUTO PROGRAM, se-
lect country setting then press the BLUE but-
ton.

programme names of programmes, you can
change them in Program table. For etails see
the Program table section.
If you o not have a T-V LINK compatible VCR,
press MENU button to exit the menu.

necte to the EXT-2 terminal, press but-
ton to isplay T-V LINK menu. Then follow the
operating proce ure Downloa ing ata to
VCR in the following T-V LINK section.
T-V LINK
When a T-V LINK compatible VCR connecte
to the EXT-2 terminal on the TV, it is easier to
set up the VCR an to view vi eos. T-V LINK
uses the following features:

A T-V LINK compatible VCR means a JVC
vi eo cassette recor er with the T-V LINK logo,

ing to ownloa again, check that:
The VCR power is turne on.
The VCR is T-V LINK compatible.
The VCR is connecte to EXT-2.
The scart cable is fully wire .
Direct REC:
You can easily recor to VCR the images that
you are watching on the TV. For etails, rea
the manual for your VCR. Use your VCR con-
trols you can not carry out Direct REC using
your TV control.
When you press the following buttons ( / I,
, TV / DTV, , AV, MENU, (SUBTITLE),
GUIDE, BACK, / , number buttons)
uring recor ing, a message appears ask-
ing if you want to stop recor ing or not. Press
OK button to stop recor ing or BLUE button
to continue recor ing.
Do not turn the TV off in the following cases:
When recor ing images from an external
evice connecte to TV (For example
camcor er).
When recor ing a TV channel after it has
been unscramble on a eco er.
When recor ing a TV channel by using the
TVs output because the VCRs own tuner
can not properly receive that channel.
When recor ing DTV
TV autopower on/VCR image view:
When the VCR starts playing, the TV automati-
cally turns on an images from EXT-1 an
EXT-2 appear on the screen.
This function oes not happen if your TVs main
power is turne off. Set your TVs main power
to on (Stan By Mo e).
Basic Operations
You can operate your TV using oth the re-
mote control and TV uttons.
Turning the TV On/Off
Turn on the power switch on the right si e of
the TV.
The power lamp lights re an the TV
switches to stan by mo e.
Press the STANDBY button on the remote
control han set.
The power lamp lights green an the TV
switches on.
Note:
You can also press the / button
on the TV to turn the TV on from the stan by
mo e.
If you turn the power switch off when the TV is
on, you can switch on the TV again by press-
ing the power switch.
Turning the TV Off
Press the STANDBY button on the remote

The power switch oes not fully isolate the
TV from the main power supply. To turn the
main power supply off completely, iscon-

Operation with the buttons on the TV
Volume Setting

Entering Main Menu
Press MENU/OK button to enter Main menu.
In the Main menu select submenu using

menu using - or + button. To learn
the usage of the menus, refer to the Menu
System sections.
Operation with Re ote Control
The remote control of your TV is esigne to
control all the functions of the mo el you se-
lecte . The functions will be escribe in ac-
cor ance with the menu system of your TV.
Functions of the menu system are escribe
in following sections.
Volume Setting
Press + button to increase volume.
Press - button to ecrease volume.
A volume level scale (sli er) will be isplaye
in the mi le at the bottom of the screen.
Programme Selection (Previous or next
programme)
Press button to select the previous
programme.
Press button to select the next
programme.
Programme Selection (direct access):
Press igit buttons on the remote control to
select programmes between 0 an 9. TV will
switch to the selecte programme. To select
programmes between 10 - 99, press the igit
buttons consecutively which programme you
want to select (eg. for programme 27, first
press 2 an then 7). When it is late to press
secon igit button only the first igit
programme will be isplaye . The limit of the
elay time is 3 secon s.
Example: PR6 press 6, PR12 press 1
an 2.
Press irectly the programme number to
reselect single igit programmes.
Hint: The channel list numbers are assigned by the broad
casters. Because not all channels are broadcast free to air
and stored by the receiver, the channel list numbers do not
run continuously. The fifteenth channel in the list, for ex
ample, may not be channel number 15 but channel number
17.
Hint: If you enter a number which does not correspond to a
stored channel, the next valid channel number is selected
instead. If you enter a number greater than the highest
numbered channel in the channel list, the DTV will select the
last channel in the list.

Operating while watching D V
Pressing the TV/DTV button at any time while
watching television programmes will switch
the TV set between isplaying the igital ter-
restrial television broa casting an its nor-
mal analogue broa casting.
It is also use to switch to the last watche
DTV from the EXT mo e. For example; if a
DVD player is connecte with a SCART cable
an powere on, then the DTV will automati-
cally switch to EXT mo e. The DTV will switch
to the last watche DTV if DVD player is
switche off or TV/DTV button is presse .
EVERYDAY OPERATION
While using the DTV to the full, there are great
many buttons to use in ifferent situations.
Many of the menu screens isplaye by the
DTV have remin ers as to which button o
what, at the base of the screen. In a ition,
many screens have further help available which
is isplaye when the button is presse ,
as prompte at the bottom of the screen.
INFORMATION BANNER
Whenever you change channel, using the
/ buttons or the number buttons,
an information banner is isplaye at the bot-
tom of the screen. This will remain on the
screen for approximately three secon s. The
information banner can also be isplaye at
any time while watching TV by pressing the
button on the remote control. Pressing the
button again removes the banner.
Hint: Not all channels broadcast the programme
data. If the name and times of the programme is not
available then No Information is displayed in the
information banner.
The information banner gives a number of facts
on the channel selecte an the programmes
on it. The name of the channel is isplaye ,
along with its channel list number an an in-
ication of the strength of the signal receive
on this tuning channel.
The name an the start an finish time of the
programme currently showing on the selecte
channel are given, an the current time.
Icons are also isplaye in the information
banner if this channel is a favourite channel.

If the selecte channel is locke , you must
enter the correct four igit co e to view the
channel.
ELECTRONIC PROGRAMME GUIDE (EPG)
Another way of selecting a channel is with the
electronic programme gui e, or EPG. Like the
Channel List, the EPG screen isplays a list
of the store channels along with information
on what programmes are being broa cast.
Using the Electronic Programme Guide
EPG can isplay 8 ays programme gui e,
but in some areas only current an next
programme gui e is isplaye .
By using EPG, you can select the channel an
set the remin er for the programme which you
o not want to miss.
To isplay the EPG screen, press the GUIDE
button while watching DTV.
You can exit the EPG screen by pressing the
GUIDE button again or the MENU button.

watching analogue TV, peripheral equip-
ments or when the TV is in stan by mo e or
when the main power is switche off.
To cancel the reminder setting
Display the EPG screen, choose a
programme which has the remin er icon, an
press the OK button.
Note:
Remin er events are ignore if any timer
event is active at that time.
You can not set the remin er for the
programme which has alrea y starte .
No Information is isplaye for the
programme or channel which oes not have
any information. You can not set the remin er
for these programmes.
DISPLAYING THE SUBTITLES
With DTV, some programmes are broa cast
with subtitles. Subtitles can be isplaye when
watching these programmes.
Press the (SUBTITLE) button when
watching DTV.
Subtitle ON appears at the top-left of the
screen an , if programme has subtitles, the
subtitles are isplaye .
When the (SUBTITLE) button is presse
again, Subtitle OFF appears an the sub-
titles isappear.

DIGITAL TELETEXT
With DTV, in a ition to pictures an soun ,
you can also watch igital teletext.
Digital teletext is sometimes broa cast at the
same time as normal broa casting.
1. Press the button.
The igital teletext information appears.
2. Operate it with the colour buttons,
/ / / buttons and OK button.
The operation metho may iffer epen ing
on the contents of the igital teletext.
Follow the instructions isplaye on igital
teletext screen.
When Press SELECT or similar message
