PRECAUTIONS
POWER SUPPLY
The main power supply is engaged when the main plug is
plugged in a 220-240 V~, 50 Hz AC outlet. To operate the
unit, press [ (standby-on)] to turn on the unit.
WARNING: LIVE PARTS INSIDE.
DO NOT REMOVE ANY SCREWS.
CAUTION
1) Do not attempt to open the cabinet. There are no user
serviceable parts inside. Refer all servicing to qualified
service personnel.
2) Slots and openings in the cabinet and the sides or
bottom are provided for ventilation. To ensure reliable
operation and to protect the unit from overheating, these
openings must not be blocked or covered.
Avoid installation in enclosed spaces such as bookcases
unless proper ventilation is provided.
3) Keep the unit away from radiators and other heat
sources.
4) Do not push objects of any kind into the unit through
the cabinet slots or openings as they could touch
electrically live parts or short circuit parts resulting in a
fire or electric shock.
5) To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose this
apparatus to dripping or splashing, no objects filled with
liquids, such as vases, should be placed on the apparatus.
6) Use the unit on a horizontal (flat) surface only.
7) Do not place any combustible objects on the device
(candles, etc.).
8) The LCD panel used in this product is made of glass.
Therefore, it can break when the product is dropped or
applied with impact. Be careful not to be injured by
broken glass pieces in case the LCD panel breaks.
The LCD panel is a very high technology product with
921,600 thin film transistors, giving you fine picture
details. Occasionally, a few non-active pixels may appear
on the TV screen as a fixed point of blue, green or red.
Please note that this does not affect the performance of
your product.
9) Disconnect the mains plug to switch off when the unit
becomes faulty or not in use.
10) The mains plug shall remain readily operable.
11) Read the manual instructions to ensure correct and safe
installation and interconnection of the unit in
multimedia systems.
12) Keep a distance of 20 cm around the ventilation
openings of the apparatus.

THINGS TO DO FOR THE FIRST TIME
Attaching the stand
You need to attach the stand to the unit to display upright. Make sure the front and rear of the stand match the proper direction.
To remove the stand from the unit
Handling the glossy finish of the unit
Be careful when handling the glossy finish of the unit. The glossy finish of the unit scratches easily.
• Protection films have been pasted onto the glossy finish of the
unit to prevent scratches. Peel off the films after the unit has
been placed properly.
• If the glossy finish gets dirty, clear the dust off the glossy finish
first. Then wipe softly with soft cloth. If you do not clear the
dust first, or you wipe the glossy finish too hard, the glossy finish
may be scratched.
1) Place the unit face down onto
the soft stuff such as a cloth on a
table. Be careful not to damage
the TV screen.
2) Insert the stand all the way to
the unit slowly. Be careful not to
put the AC cord between the
stand and the unit.
3) Make sure the stand clicks.
Pull the stand toward the direction Bpressing the hooks Aat once and
remove the stand from the unit slowly. Be careful not to drop the stand
when you remove it.
Note: • Make sure to use the table which can support the weight and size of the unit.
• Make sure the table is in a stable location.

OPERATING CONTROLS AND FUNCTIONS
All operations described are based on the use of the remote control. Some operations can be carried out using the buttons on the control panel.

Installing the Batteries
1) Open the battery compartment cover.
2) Insert “R6” penlight batteries into battery compartment in the
direction as indicated by the polarity (+/–) markings. Batteries
installed with incorrect polarity may damage the remote unit.
3) Close the cover.
4) Push the cover on its top side until it clicks in order to fit the
cover completely to the compartment.

30. PC-IN (RGB) input jack
Connect a VGA cable (commercially available) to the
monitor jack of a PC.
31. HDMI-IN input jack
Connect an HDMI cable (commercially available) to the
HDMI output jack of an external device.
32. COMPONENT (Y/Pb/Pr) / AUDIO (L/R) input jack
Connect an RCA component video and an RCA audio
cable (commercially available) to the component video and
audio output jack of an external device.
33. (Aerial) input jack
Connect an RF coaxial cable (commercially available) to an
antenna or RF output jack of a cable system.
34. HEAD PHONE jack
Connect a headphone.
35. VIDEO input jack
Connect an RCA video cable (commercially available) to the
video output jack of an external device.
36. AUDIO (L/R) input jack
Connect an RCA audio cable (commercially available) to
the audio output jack of an external device.
37. S-VIDEO input jack
Connect an S-video cable (commercially available) to the
S-video output jack of an external device.
38. PC-IN (Audio) input jack
Connect a mini-plug audio cable (commercially available)
to the audio line out jack of a PC.
39. SCART jack
Connect a scart cable (commercially available) to the scart
jack of an external device.
40. C.I. (COMMON INTERFACE) slot
Common Interface (CI) Module: Insert the CI module.
Note: Batteries (battery pack or batteries installed) shall not be
exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the
like.

PREPARATION FOR USE
Antenna Connection
1) Connect an RF cable (commercially available) to (Aerial)
input jack at the rear of this unit.
2) Plug this unit into an AC outlet.
3) The STAND BY/POWER indicator on the front panel lights
red, then press [ (standby-on)] to turn on the unit.
External Connection
[HDMI CONNECTION]
HDMI connection offers the highest picture quality. HDMI
(High Definition Multimedia Interface) transports high
definition video and multi-channel digital audio through a single
cable.
Connect the HDMI output jack of your video device and the
HDMI-IN jack of the unit. Use an HDMI cable (commercially
available).
[SCART CONNECTION]
Scart connection offers better picture quality.
Connect the scart jack of your video device and the SCART jack
of this unit. Use a scart cable (commercially available).
Note: If you like to connect a active DVB-T antenna, the
antenna must have its own power supply.
It is not possible to power the antenna from the TV.

Dear Customer,
By connecting an HDMI cable to your JVC LCD TV, you have
to use only a certified HDMI cable to guarantee a sufficient
immunity against parasitic frequency radiation.
A certified HDMI cable can be identified by the HDMI logo
on the cable or the cable package.
Note:
• This unit accepts 480i / 480p / 576i / 576p / 720p /
1080i video signals and 32 kHz / 44.1 kHz / 48 kHz
audio signals.
• This unit accepts only 2 channel audio signals
(LPCM).
• You need to select “PCM” for the digital audio
output of the device you connect. Make sure the
device outputs the digital audio. Audio sometimes
makes no sound if you select “Bitstream”, etc.

[COMPONENT CONNECTION]
RCA component video connection offers better picture quality.
1) Connect the component video output jack (Y, Pb, Pr) of your
video device and the COMPONENT video(Y, Pb, Pr) input
jack of this unit. Use an RCA component video cable
(commercially available).
2) Connect the audio output jack of your device and the
AUDIO (L/R) input jack of this unit. Use an RCA audio
cable (commercially available).
[S-VIDEO CONNECTION]
S-video connection offers good picture quality.
1) Connect the S-video output jack of your video device and the
S-VIDEO input jack of this unit. Use an S-video cable
(commercially available).
2) Connect the audio output jack of your device and the
AUDIO (L/R) input jack of this unit. Use an RCA audio
cable (commercially available).
[VIDEO CONNECTION]
RCA video connection offers standard picture quality.
1) Connect the video output jack of your video device and the
VIDEO input jack of this unit. Use an RCA video cable
(commercially available).
2) Connect the audio output jack of your video device and the
AUDIO (L/R) input jack of this unit. Use an RCA audio
cable (commercially available).
[PC CONNECTION]
If you connect this unit and your PC, you can use this unit as a
computer monitor.
1) Connect the monitor jack of your PC and the PC-IN (RGB)
jack of this unit. Use a VGA cable with ferrite core
(commercially available).
2) Connect the audio line out jack of your PC and the PC-IN
(Audio) jack of this unit. Use a mini-plug audio cable
(commercially available).
Precautions for the connection to other devices:
Please use the VGA cable that has a ferrite core.
Note: This unit accepts 480i / 480p / 576i / 576p / 720p /
1080i video signals.
Note: If you connect to the S-VIDEO jack and the VIDEO
jack at the same time, S-video connection will have
priority.

SETUP FOR USE
Initial Setting
You need to set the followings to use the unit appropriately for the
first time you turn on the unit.
1) Press [ (standby-on)] to turn on the unit.
• “Initial Setup” language menu will appear.
2) Press [K/ L]repeatedly to select the menu language you
want, then press [OK].
• “Initial Setup” country setting menu will appear.
3) Press [K/ L]to select the country you want, then press
[OK].
• “Initial Setup” antenna confirmation menu will appear.
4) Press [K/ L]to select “Yes”, then press [OK].
• Channel scanning will start automatically.
• When the scanning is completed, the lowest memorised
digital channel will be displayed.
Auto Scan
You can scan the digital channels receivable in your area
automatically.
1) Press [MENU] to display the menu in digital mode.
2) Press [K/ L]to select “CHANNEL”, then press [OK].
3) Press [K/ L]to select “Auto Scan”, then press [OK].
• Scanning will start automatically.
• When the scanning is completed, the lowest memorised
digital channel will be displayed.
•Ifyoupress[MENU] during the scanning, this operation
will be stopped and the lowest memorised digital channel
will be displayed.
You can scan the analogue channels receivable in your area
automatically.
1) Press [MENU] to display the menu in analogue mode.
2) Press [K/ L]to select “CHANNEL”, then press [OK].
3) Press [K/ L]to select “Auto Scan”, then press [OK].
• Scanning will start automatically.
• When the scanning is completed, the lowest memorised
analogue channel will be displayed.
•Ifyoupress[MENU] during the scanning, this operation
will be stopped and the lowest memorised analogue
channel will be displayed.
• Please note that after tuning, the analogue channels will be
stored in the order that they are broadcast by your local
transmitter. This may not be in the same order in which
you would like them to be stored. If this is the case, you can
change the order according to your preference. To do this,
see “To change the channel order manually” on page 16.
Note: • If you select “No” in antenna confirmation menu, the
operation will be cancelled.
• If you press [MENU] during auto scanning, the
operation will be cancelled.
• If there is no signal input from the antenna terminal
and no operation for several seconds, the next display
will appear. Follow the instructions on the TV screen.

Manual Scan
You can adjust a digital channel individually.
1) Press [MENU] to display the menu in digital mode.
2) Press [K/ L]to select “CHANNEL”, then press [OK].
3) Press [K/ L]to select “Manual Scan”, then press [OK].
4) Press [s/ B]to select the channel number you want to scan.
• The tuner will start searching up or down automatically.
When a channel is found, the searching will stop.
5) Press [MENU] to exit.
You can adjust an analogue channel individually.

2) Press [K/ L]to select “CHANNEL”, then press [OK].
3) Press [K/ L]to select “Manual Scan”, then press [OK].
4) Press [s/ B]to select the channel number you want to scan.

6) Press [the Number buttons] to enter the frequency.
• To select 24, enter [0] first, then press [2] and [4].
7) Press [s/ B]to start searching.
• The tuner will start searching up or down automatically.
When a channel is found the searching will stop.
8) Press [K/ L]to select “Color System”, then press [OK].
9) Press [K/ L]to select the system (“Pal, SECAM”) you want,
then press [OK].
10) Press [K/ L]to select “Sound System”, then press [OK].
11) Press [K/ L]to select the system you want, then press [OK].
e.g.) “Color System” is “SECAM”
12) Press [MENU] to exit.
Language Selection
You can select the main language.
1) Press [MENU] to display the menu.
2) Press [K/ L]to select “LANGUAGE”, then press [OK].
3) Press [K/ L]to select your desired item, then press [OK].
4) Press [K/ L]repeatedly to select the language you want, then
press [OK].
5) Press [MENU] to exit.

Teletext
You can retrieve the teletext information along with TV channels.

• Teletext information will appear.

2) Press [(text) / ]again to show the teletext in
transparent mode.
3) Press [(text) / ]to turn off the teletext decoder.
C.I. (Common Interface)
This unit is equipped with a C.I. (Common Interface) slot. You
can enjoy additional services with this function, for example Pay
TV. The access restrictions menu will appear on the TV screen
when a CI module is installed.
1) Turn off the unit and unplug from an AC outlet.
2) Insert the CI module straight to the C.I. slot of this unit.
• Some CI modules may be a two-piece design consisting of a card
reader with the viewing card. When using this kind of card,
insert the card reader firmly into the C.I. slot on the unit first.
Then, insert the viewing card into the reader.
3) Plug this unit into an AC outlet and press
[ (standby-on)] to turn on the unit.
4) Press [MENU] to display the menu.
5) Press [K/ L]to select “DETAIL”, then press [OK].
6) Press [K/ L]to select “CI Menu”, then press [OK].
7) Follow the instructions on the TV screen.
Colour System
You can change the TV colour system in video or scart mode.
Press [COLOUR SYSTEM / ]to change the TV colour
system.
• Each time you press [COLOUR SYSTEM / ], the TV
screen will change as follows.
AUTO, PAL, PAL60, SECAM, NTSC, NTSC4.43
Note: • To enlarge fonts, press [(expand)].
• To select teletext subpages, press [(sub page)].
• To directly select the page numbers shown at the
bottom of the TV screen, use [RED/GREEN/
YELLOW/BLUE].
• To call up the hidden information, press
[(reveal)].
• To go back to the start page, press [(index)].

OPERATIONS
Watching a TV Programme
To select a channel
Press [TV/DTV] to switch digital or analogue mode.
Press [P /P(prog.)] repeatedly to select your desired
channel.
or
Press [the Number buttons] to enter a channel number as
three digits for quicker access.
e.g.) If you want to select the channel 24, press [0] first, then press
[2] and [4] within 3 seconds.
Press [P /P(prog.)] repeatedly to select your desired
channel.
or
Press [the Number buttons] to enter a channel number as two
digits for quicker access.
e.g.) If you want to select the channel 24, press [2] and [4] within
3 seconds.
To adjust the volume
Press [+/–(vol.)] to adjust the audio volume.
• You can see the volume bar while adjusting the volume.
Press [(mute)] to turn on or off the sound right away.
• You can recover the original volume by pressing [(mute)]
again or [+/–(vol.)] .
Sleep Timer
You can set the unit to be turned off automatically after a set time
period.
1) Press [(sleep) /].
• Sleep timer display will appear.
2) Press [(sleep) /]repeatedly to change the sleep time
period.
• Each time you press [(sleep) /], the timer increases
by 30 minutes up to 120 minutes.
To cancel the sleep timer
Press [(sleep) /]repeatedly until “Sleep Off” will appear.
Switching the Input Mode
You can switch the input mode to digital mode, analogue mode or
external input mode.
Press [AV] repeatedly to cycle through the input mode.
You can also change the input mode using [BLUE].
1) Press [BLUE].
• “Select Input” menu will appear.
2) Press [K/ L]to select the input mode you want, then press
[OK].

Changing the TV Screen Display Mode
You can select your favourite TV screen size in both 4:3 and 16:9
TV aspect ratios.
Press [ZOOM / ]repeatedly to switch the TV screen display
mode.
• You may not switch the TV screen display mode depending on
the programme.
For 4:3 video signal
“Regular”
Displays a 4:3 picture at its original size. Sidebars appear on both
edge of the TV screen.
“Full”
Displays a 4:3 picture at a 16:9 size; the picture is stretched
horizontally to fill the TV screen.
“Cinema”
Displays a 4:3 picture at a 16:9 size; the picture is stretched
horizontally and vertically to fill the TV screen. This crops out the
top and bottom of the picture.
“Panoramic”
Displays a 4:3 picture at a 16:9 size; the centre of the picture is at
its original size and the edges stretched horizontally to fill the TV
screen.
“14:9”
Displays a 4:3 picture at a 14:9 size. Sidebars will be displayed on
both edge of the TV screen.
For 16:9 video signal
“Full”
Displays a 16:9 picture at its original size.
“Zoom1”
Displays a 16:9 picture at its maximum size without changing its
horizontal and vertical ratio.
“Zoom2”
Displays a vertically stretched picture.
“Zoom3”
Displays a horizontally stretched picture.
For PC input signal
“Regular”
Displays a proportionally stretched picture. Sidebars appear on
both edges of the TV screen.
“Full”
Displays a picture that is stretched out of proportion to fill the TV
screen.
“Dot By Dot”
Displays a picture in its original size.

Channel Edit
You can select a channel, change the channel order, delete the
channel, etc.
1) Press [MENU] to display the menu.
2) Press [K/ L]to select “CHANNEL”, then press [OK].
3) Press [K/ L]to select “Channel List”, then press [OK].

To allocate the decoder
Some TV stations transmit encoded TV signals which can only be
viewed with a purchased or hired decoder. You can connect such
a decoder to SCART jack of the unit. This function will
automatically activate the connected decoder for the channel.
4) Press [K/ L]to select the channel you want to allocate the
decoder, then press [B].
5) Press [K/ L]to select “Decoder”.
6) Press [OK] to decoder on or off.
• “ ” will appear on the left of the channel.
7) Press [MENU] to exit.
Note: You can edit the channel list. Refer to “Channel Edit” on
page 15 to page 17.

To skip the channel

• When you select the locked channel, you need to enter the
password to watch.
If you want to unlock
4) Press [K/ L]to select the locked channel, then press [B].
5) Press [K/ L]to select “Unlock”, then press [OK].
• Password input field will appear.
6) Press [the Number buttons] to enter the 4-digit number.
• “ ” will disappear.
7) Press [MENU] to exit.
To delete the channel
4) Press [K/ L]to select the channel you want to delete, then
press [B].
5) Press [K/ L]to select “Delete”, then press [OK].
• Confirmation window will appear.
e.g.) Digital
6) Press [OK] to confirm.
• The selected channel will be deleted from the memorised
channel.
7) Press [MENU] to exit.
To change the channel order manually
4) Press [K/ L]to select the channel you want to move, then
press [B].
5) Press [K/ L]to select “Move Up” or “Move Down”, then
press [OK].
• The channel will move one line up or down.

preference. These settings are automatically stored after exiting the

4) Press [the Number buttons] to enter the 4-digit number.
• If you have not set up your password, enter 0000.
5) Press [MENU] to exit.
To set the new password
5) Press [K/ L]to select “Change Password.”.
6) Press [the Number buttons] to enter the new 4-digit
number.
7) Press [the Number buttons] to enter the same 4-digit
number again.
• After entering the password, “Lock Setting” menu will appear.
8) Press [MENU] to exit.
To set the parental rating
