POL RIZED PLUG INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance is equipped with a polarized plug (one lade is wider
than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit into
the polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not properly fit into
the outlet at first, reverse it. If it still does not fit, contact a competent
qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
SHORT CORD INSTRUCTIONS
A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards resulting

INTRODUCTION TO SLOW COOKING
Slow cooking occurs at temperatures around oiling point. The slow
cooker is designed to operate all day or all night if required, on the
LOW position. Food will cook on HIGH in a out half the time required
with the LOW setting. Additional liquid may e required as food oils
on high setting. Always unplug the appliance when not in use.
BEFORE USING THE FIRST TIME
• Carefully unpack your slow cooker and clean it according to the
section “CLEANING AND CARE”.
• It is necessary to operate the slow cooker one time efore placing
food in the stoneware liner. Pour 4 cups of water into the
stoneware liner and place it into the ase unit. Cover with the glass
lid.
• Turn the control dial to “High” position, and allow heating for
approximately 30 minutes. You may notice a slight odor; this is
normal and will quickly diminish.
• Turn control to OFF and allow cooling for 20 minutes.
• Wearing oven mitts, grasp the stoneware liner y its handles to
carefully lift it and remove it from the ase unit. Pour out the water
from the stoneware liner.
• Rinse the stoneware liner, dry thoroughly and replace into the ase
unit.
OPER TION
• Prepare your ingredients to e slow cooked directly in the
stoneware liner.
Note: do not fill the liner to the top with food.
• Put the lid on the stoneware liner.
• Always make sure the temperature kno is in "0FF" position.
• Insert the plug in a grounded power socket, 120V, UL type. The pilot
light lights up, indicating that the slow cooker is ready to e used.
• Select the desired temperature setting (LOW or HIGH) and let the
ingredients cook slowly (see section: TEMPERATURE SELECTOR).
• When cooking is complete, turn dial to OFF and unplug from power
outlet.
• Using oven mitts carefully lift the lid, away from you, using its kno
to allow steam to escape.

• You can either serve the preparation in the crock or transfer it in
another receptacle. When taking the stoneware liner out of the
aluminum pan, use oven mitts to grasp the handles, particularly if
you are sensitive to heat. Always grasp the liner y its handles,
using oven mitts.
• Always let the appliance cool down efore cleaning or storing it.
Even when turned off and unplugged, the Slow Cooker will remain
hot for some time after using.
W RNING:
According to U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food Safety and Inspection
Service, to avoid food- orne illnesses, foods such as meat, fish, and poultry
should e thoroughly cooked efore consuming them. Before consuming,
determine the temperature of the foods using a food thermometer (not
included). Refer to the USDA we site for information on food temperature
rules.
TEMPER TURE SELECTOR
• According to the preparation you can select position LOW (Low
cooking setting) or position HIGH (High cooking setting).
• The LOW heat setting gently simmers food for an extended period
of time without overcooking or urning. No stirring is required when
using this setting. Ideal for vegeta le dishes and re-heating.
• Although the fast cooking setting accelerates the preparation, it
remains slow compared to a classical cooking mode and your
preparation may simmer gently to allow the ingredients to give off
their flavor. The HIGH heat setting will cook food in half the time
required for the LOW heat setting. As food will oil when cooked
on the HIGH heat setting. It may e necessary to add extra liquid,
depending on the recipe and the amount of time in which it is
cooked. Occasional stirring of stews and casseroles will improve
the flavor distri ution. Food should e monitored when using the
high setting, just like cooking in a pot with a lid on.
• You can also use the HIGH settings for the first couples of hours and
then switch ack to the LOW setting for the remainder of the
cooking.
• Using the KEEP WARM position, the slow cooker will keep the food
at serving temperature after cooking, at approx. 150°F. Do not use
this setting to cook food.

Note: The power light will light on as soon as the appliance is plugged
in a wall socket (even when the switch is in the OFF position).
PR CTIC L DVICE
• In order to prolong the appliance's lifespan and to protect the
crock, we advise you not to create thermal shocks during use. For
example, never pour oiling liquid on cold ingredients or on the
contrary, never put frozen food in a hot preparation. As a rule, if
the liner is hot, do NOT add cold or frozen food.
• Before cooking frozen food, please add some warm liquid.
• Never fill the stoneware liner to the rim as the preparation might
flow over during the cooking process (leave up minimum 2 inches
space to the rim)
• Do not use for more than 8 hours consecutively.
• Defrost any frozen content efore cooking into the slow cooker.
• Remem er that frequent lifting of the lid during cooking will
increase the cooking time.
• When cooking a meat and vegeta le com ination, place the
vegeta les at the ottom of the stoneware liner first, and then add
the meat and other ingredients.
• Meat will not rown when slow cooking. If you wish to rown the
meat, please rown the meat in a separate cooking pan, efore
putting in the slow cooker.
• Whole her s and spices have a etter flavor, than if crushed or
ground.
• Remem er liquids do not oil away in a slow cooker like they
would do in a normal pan. Reduce the amount of liquids if
following a recipe not specifically written for slow cooking.
Exceptions to this rule are soups and rice. If a recipe results in too
much liquid, remove the cover and turn to HIGH setting.
• Most recipes that call for uncooked meat or vegeta les will require
a out 6-8 hours slow cooking time on LOW setting.
• Meat with a high fat content will result in dishes with fewer flavors.
Pre-cooking or rowning these meats will help reduce the amount
of fat. The higher the fat content, the less water is needed. If
cooking meat with a high fat content, cook on a ed of thick
onion slices so that the meat will not sit and cook in the fat. If
necessary, skim off the excess fat from the top of the food, using a
spoon, efore serving.

• Food cut in uniform pieces will cook more evenly and faster than if
left whole (poultry, roasts)
• Rice, noodles and pasta are not recommended to cook for
extended periods of time. Please cook separately and add to the
preparation 30 minutes efore the end of the cooking time.
COOKING WITH YOUR SLOW COOKER
Contrary to classical cooking modes, your appliance does not heat
the food from elow ut only the sides of the appliance are heating
and the heat is spread over the whole recipient. This way the food
does not stick to the ottom of the receptacle and may thus cook for
a long time.
All preparations that need slow cooking, i.e. to "simmer", can e made
with the slow cooker, ut other preparations may e adapted to this
cooking mode.
As most food is cooked over period of 6-9 hours, it can e prepared in
advance the evening efore, refrigerated in the remova le crockery
pot, placed in the slow cooker and switched on in the morning and
left to cook all day. When you arrive home a delicious, hot meal will
await you.
The guide elow will help simplify the process of slow cooker, allowing
you to o tain ultimate satisfaction from your slow cooker.
It’s all in the timing!
Always allow sufficient time for the food to cook. It is almost impossi le
to overcook in the slow cooker, particularly when using the LOW
setting. Most recipes can e cooked on any one of the temperature
settings; however the cooking times will vary accordingly.

Traditional Recipe Time: Slow Cooker Recipe Time:
15-30 minutes 4-6 hours on LOW heat setting

NOTE! These times are approximate. Times can vary depending on
ingredients and quantities in recipes.
All food should e cooked with the glass lid well in place. Each time
the lid is lifted, oth the heat and moisture are decreasing. Cooking
times should e adjusted y to accommodate this factor.
Liquid amounts
When food is cooking in your slow cooker, very little moisture oils
away. To compensate this, it is advisa le to halve the liquid content of
traditional recipes.
However, if after cooking the liquid content is excessive, remove the
lid and operate the slow cooker on the High heat setting for 30-45
minutes or until the liquid reduces y the desira le amount.
Stirring the food
Little or no stirring is required when using the LOW or KEEP WARM
setting. When using the HIGH heat setting stirring ensures even flavor
distri ution.

S UCE W RMER
For your convenience, a sauce warmer is included. This sauce warmer
is actually a small sized slow cooker (¾ qtr.) whose setting is always set
to HIGH. It can e used to keep sauces warm and ready to serve, and
is also ideal for chocolate dips/fondue or coating cake pops. All care
and maintenance instructions shown here apply to the dipper too.
CLE NING ND C RE
• Always move to OFF position, unplug the appliance and wait for it
to cool down efore cleaning it.
• Remove the lid and take out the stoneware liner using the handles
and wash them in hot, soapy water. You can also immerse them in
water, ut never use scouring pads to clean them. Rinse
thoroughly.
• The stoneware liner and glass lid can also e washed in the
dishwater. However care should e taken not to chip or crack the
stoneware liner or lid.
• Wipe the inside of the aluminum pan and the ody of the
appliance with a damp sponge. Never immerse in water. Never
put it in the dishwasher.
• Never immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid. Never fill
the stoneware liner with water to clean it when it is still in the
aluminum pan.
M INTEN NCE INSTRUCTIONS
• Avoid sudden, extreme temperature changes. For example, do not
place a hot glass lid or stoneware liner into cold water or onto a
wet surface
• Do not use the stoneware liner to store food in the refrigerator, and
then reheat in the ase unit. The sudden temperature change may
crack the liner. Let the stoneware liner warm up at room
temperature efore using with the ase unit.
• Avoid hard shocks against the liner and lid.
• Do not use if liner or lid are chipped, cracked or deeply scratched.
• Do not attempt to repair or replace a damaged power cord!
Contact the repair center of the manufacturer, its service agent or
similarly qualified person for repair or replacement of the power
cord.

INTRODUCCIÓN L COCIN LET
La cocción lenta se produce a temperaturas de alrededor del
punto de e ullición. La olla de cocción lenta está diseñada para
funcionar durante todo el día o toda la noche si es necesario, en la
posición LOW/BAJO. Los alimentos que se cocinan a fuego HIGH/
ALTO se harán en la mitad del tiempo que si usa la posición ajo.
Cuando se cocina a nivel alto puede que sea necesario añadir
líquido. Desenchufe siempre el aparato cuando no esté en uso.
NTES DE SU PRIMER UTILIZ CIÓN
• Saque con cuidado la olla y límpiela siguiendo la sección
"Mantenimiento y limpieza".
• Haga funcionar la olla con agua una vez, antes de hacerlo con
alimentos. Ponga 4 tazas de agua en el recipiente cerámico,
colóquelo en la unidad ase y cú ralo con la tapa de cristal.
• Gire el selector de temperatura a la posición "Alta", y deje el
aparato funcionar durante 30 minutos. Puede que note un ligero
olor, esto es normal y disminuirá rápidamente.
• Gire el selector a apagado y déjelo enfriar durante 20 minutos.
• Usando siempre agarraderas o guantes de cocina, saque el
recipiente cerámico de la ase y tire el agua.
• Enjuáguelo, séquelo y vuelva a colocarlo en la unidad de ase.
USO
• Prepare sus recetas directamente en el recipiente de cerámica.
Nota: no llene el recipiente cerámico hasta el orde con
comida.
• Ponga la tapa so re el recipiente de cerámica.
• Asegúrese siempre que el selector está en la posición "OFF"
(aparato apagado).
• Conecte su aparato a un enchufe de pared con toma de tierra.
El testigo luminoso se enciende, indicando que el aparato esta
listo para su uso.

• Seleccione la temperatura deseada (LOW/BAJA o HIGH/ALTA) y
deje cocer lentamente la preparación (Ver sección: SELECTOR
DE TEMPER TUR ).
• Una vez cocinada su preparación, ponga el selector en la
posición "0FF" y desenchufe el aparato.
• Siempre usando guantes de cocina o agarraderas, levante la
tapa por su asa siempre apartando la cara, para dejar que salga
el vapor.
• Puede servir su guiso en el recipiente de cerámica o ien
vaciarlo en otro recipiente. Cuando retire el recipiente de
cerámica de la cu a, utilice guantes de cocina o agarradores
para las asas, so retodo si es muy sensi le al calor. Sujételo
siempre por las asas.
• Deje siempre enfriar el aparato antes de limpiarlo o de
guardarlo. Incluso si esta apagado y desenchufado, la olla se
mantiene caliente durante un tiempo tras su uso.
SELECTOR DE TEMPER TUR
• Según la receta que prepara, puede poner el selector en la
posición LOW (Función calor BAJO) o en la posición HIGH
(Posición calor ALTO).
• La función calor BAJO cocina las comidas lentamente por un
período de tiempo más largo sin re-cocinarlas o quemarlas. No
es necesario revolver cuando se usa esta función. Es ideal para
platos de vegetales y para calentar.
• Aunque la cocción rápida permita acelerar la preparación de
los guisos, ella queda lenta por comparación con una cocción
clásica: su receta se cocinará siempre a fuego lento en toda
tranquilidad, permitiendo que los ingredientes desprendan al
máximo todo su sa or. La función ALTO cocina las comidas en
la mitad del tiempo que se necesita utilizando la cocción en la
función BAJO. Dado que la comida hervirá al ser cocinada en la
función ALTO, tal vez sea necesario agregar algún líquido
adicional, lo cual va a depender de la receta y del tiempo de
cocción necesario para la misma. Revolver de vez en cuando la
preparación puede contri uir a una mejor distri ución del sa or,
cuando se trata de guisos y comidas a la cacerola. Es necesario
o servar y cuidar la comida mientras se usa la función ALTO,

CONSEJOS PRÁCTICOS
• A fin de aumentar la vida útil de su aparato y de proteger el
recipiente de cerámica, se desaconseja a solutamente crear
choques térmicos durante su utilización. Por ejemplo, no vierta
líquido hirviendo por encima de ingredientes fríos y, al revés, no
ponga ingredientes congelados en una preparación caliente.
Como regla, si el recipiente cerámico esta caliente, NO AÑADA
alimentos fríos o congelados.
• Nunca se de e llenar la olla hasta los ordes porque la
preparación podría des ordar durante la cocción (Deje un
espacio de un mínimo de 2 pulgadas entre la comida y el orde
de la olla).
• No utilice durante más de 8 horas consecutivas
• Toda comida congelada de erá ser descongelada antes de
cocinarla en la olla de cocción lenta.
• Recuerde que si levanta frecuentemente la tapa durante la
cocción, se necesitara más tiempo de cocción.
• Cuando cocine una com inación de carne y verduras, coloque
primero las verduras en la parte inferior y luego agregue la carne
y los otros ingredientes.
• La carne no se dora en la olla, si lo desea así, rehóguela primero
en una sartén y luego póngala en el recipiente de la olla
• Las hier as y especias enteras dan mejor sa or, que las
trituradas o pulverizadas.
• Recuerde que los líquidos no se evaporan en una olla de

especialmente escrita para una cocción lenta. Las excepciones
a esta regla son las sopas y el arroz. Si resulta que hay un exceso
de líquido en su preparación, retire la tapa y gire el selector a la
posición High/alta
• La mayoría de las recetas para cocinar carne cruda o verdura,
requieren unas 6-8 horas de cocción lenta a aja temperatura.
• La carne con un alto contenido de grasa dará como resultado
platos con menos gusto. Rehogar o sofreír la carne antes de
cocinarla ayudara a reducir las gras. Cuanto mayor sea el
contenido de grasas, menos agua se necesitará. Así mismo, si la
carne tiene un alto contenido de grasa, le aconsejamos poner la
carne so re un lecho de rodajas de ce olla para que la cocción
no se haga en la grasa. Si necesario quite la capa de exceso de
grasa que se forma en la parte superior con una cuchara antes
de servir.
• Los alimentos cortado en trozos parecidos se cocinarán mas
uniformes y rápido que si se dejan enteros (pollos,)
• Arroz, fideos y pastas, no son alimentos recomenda les para
cocinar durante largo tiempo. Cocínelos por separado y
añádalos a la preparación 30 minutos antes del fin de tiempo de
cocción.
COCINE EN SU OLL P R GUISOS
Contrariamente a una cocción clásica, este aparato no calienta los
alimentos desde a ajo: sólo los lados de la olla se calientan, luego
el calor se reparte en el conjunto del recipiente. De este modo, los
alimentos ya no se pegan al fondo del recipiente, así que pueden
cocer durante mucho tiempo.
En su olla para guisos, puede realizar todas las recetas que
necesitan una cocción suave, dicha « a fuego lento ». Pero
tam ién se pueden adaptar otras recetas.
Dado que la mayoría de las comidas se cocinan durante un lapso
de 6 a 9 horas, las mismas pueden ser preparadas la noche anterior,

Todo es cuestión de tiempo!
Permita siempre que la comida se cocine el tiempo suficiente. Es
prácticamente imposi le que la comida se re-cocine utilizando la
olla de cocción lenta, especialmente si se utiliza la función de calor
BAJO. La mayor parte de las recetas pueden ser preparadas en
cualquiera de los grados de temperatura, pero sin em argo los
tiempos de cocción van a variar de acuerdo a las mismas.
Cómo determinar los tiempos de cocción
Sus recetas favoritas y tradicionales pueden ser adaptadas
fácilmente reduciendo a la mitad la cantidad de líquido y
aumentando considera lemente el tiempo de cocción. O serve la
siguiente guía de sugerencias para tiempos de cocción y ajustes de
tiempo para la preparación de sus recetas favoritas:

NOT ! Estos tiempos son aproximados. Los tiempos pueden variar
según los ingredientes y las cantidades que figuran en las recetas.
Todas las comidas de en ser cocinadas con la tapa de vidrio
de idamente colocada. Cada vez que se levanta la tapa, tanto el
calor como la humedad disminuyen. Los tiempos de cocción de en
ser determinados teniendo en cuenta este factor.
Cantidad de líquidos
Durante la cocción de la comida en su olla de cocción lenta, sólo
una pequeña cantidad de humedad se va evaporando. Para
compensar esto se recomienda reducir a la mitad la cantidad de
contenido líquido de las recetas tradicionales. Sin em argo, en el
