Duel Gas – Twin Burner: Manual Control Operation
The Kariba-Xtreme Nomad is designed and manufactured to be independently used as an outdoor
shower and ablution facility. This mobile water heater can be used just about anywhere or be
fitted onto an off-road camper/trailer/4 4 vehicle. This appliance is built tough to withstand the
endurance demanded of off-road adventures, and is packaged in a strong “High Lid” Ammo Bo
for protection during transport in rugged terrain. NO fancy components or unnecessary parts
are fitted to the appliance such as “Prevention Featured Components” incorporated in household
gas operated water heaters that can cease to operate in remote places where NO help available.
The unique feature is the twin high pressure burners that can be operated independently. These
burners are powered by EN417 screw on butane propane mi gas canisters, or alternatively by LP
Gas from a gas bottle. Travelers are assured of a continuous supply of gas, by stocking gas
canisters for emergency use, and not restricted by the various technical standards of filling gas
bottles in foreign countries. Gas consumption during average use is 250 grams per hour, but
can increase to a ma imum of 400 grams per hour if used to its ma imum capacity. This water
heater works when you need it to, but simple user friendly rules apply for operating this system.
The Kariba-Xtreme Nomad is safe for use by adults, including minors under supervision when
used in accordance with the instructions. As this appliance is powered by gas, responsible
operation is recommended.
How the Kariba-Xtreme Nomad works:
Refer to setting up the system as shown on the “Set-up Drawing” on page 3. This water heater
has been designed to be user friendly with all the au iliary equipment made for simple user
friendly “Plug & Play” application in order to operate it. When making use of this appliance, in
the first instance attach the supplied equipment to the control panel. Then screw the EN417 gas
canister/s (not supplied) into the burner/s gas inlet and/or the LP Gas hose (supplied) which
must also be attached to the gas bottle. The 12V DC power cord must be pluged into a vehicle
cigarette lighter socket of a motor vehicle alternatively to another 12V DC power supply. No
pump operation is required if cold water from a tap is sourced, but when water from a
container/tank is sourced, the power to the internal pump must be switched on to deliver water
flow from the siphon hose which can be connected to the cold water inlet located on the left side
of the appliance. Cold water flows through the heat e changer, and which raises the water
temperature to the showerhead when the gas flame is ignited. By pressing the electronic
“Push Button” flame ignition located on the center of the control panel, this delivers sparks
sent from the ignition generator to the gas burners to ignite the gas burner flame. The twin gas
control valves determine the flame height for power delivered to the heat e changer. To ignite
the flame, in the first instant water must be flowing through the heat e changer to the
showerhead Open the gas control knob to burner No. 1 by tuning it two to three full turn.
Press the flame ignition a few times to insure the flame is lit, then open the gas control knob to
burner No. 1 by tuning it two more full turns. The energy of the flame passes through the heat
e changer which rapidly increasing the water temperature. To control the water temperature,
adjust the gas control by turning it open or closed. To increase the temperature even more,
open the second gas burner control No 2 until the desired temperature is reached. A constant
water temperature will be delivered until the appliance is shut down. To shut down the
operation, simply close both the gas control valves to the “Closed” position, and switch of the
12V DC pump or close the water at the tap if used. For safety sake, the manufacturer
recommends closing the gas bottle valve when it is not being made use of, and or screw out the
gas canisters for safe storage. This will insure a safe environment at the camp site.
