WARNING
The information in this packing sheet is intended for use by qualified service personnel
only. Do not assemble connectors or make connections to them unless qualified to do so.
Failure to recognize and observe normal safety precautions could result in personal
injury or death.
Do not exceed the maximum specifications of the switching module.
The Model 7789 connector kit is made up of two solder-cup connectors:
• 50-pin male D-shell with solder cups — This solder-cup connector (Figure 1A) mates to the 50-pin female D-shell on
Models 7701, 7703, and 7709 switching modules.
• 25-pin male D-shell with solder cups — This solder-cup connector (Figure 1B) mates to the 25-pin female D-shell on
Models 7701, 7707, and 7709 switching modules.
Each D-shell connector has the following features:
• 18 AWG solder-cup contacts.
• Gold-plated (flash) over nickel on the entire contact (brass pin).
• Die cast shielded cable clamp with grommets.

Connector parts
The connectors do not come assembled. The individual parts for each connector are bagged separately. The following table
lists the parts for each connector.
Assembly and wiring
WARNING
All wiring must be rated for the maximum voltage in the system. For example, if 1000V
is applied to the front terminals of the Model 2700/2750, the plug-in module wiring must
be rated for 1000V.
Before handling any connector (or cable assembly), make sure all power has been
removed from it.
NOTE
Refer to the appropriate section of the Model 77xx Series Switching Modules Instruction Manual
for switching module terminal identification.
Use Figure 2 as a guide to assemble and wire the connectors. Keep the following points in mind while assembling and wiring
each connector.
• Use the proper sized grommet for the cable to be installed. Make sure to account for supplementary insulation.
• Make all connections as desired using correct wire size (up to 20 AWG).
• For voltages above 42V, add supplementary insulation around the wiring harness where it enters the cable clamp of the
connector backshell (Figure 2).
