GENERAL
Carefully read the following important information regarding installation, safety and
maintenance. Keep this information booklet accessible for further consultations.
The appliance has been designed with two venting options: exhausting version (external exhaust)
or filter version (internal air recycle) cooker hood.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Take care when the cooker hood is operating simultaneously with an open fireplace or
burner as they depend on the air in the environment and the cooker hood removes the
air from the environment.
The negative pressure in the environment must not exceed 4 Pa (4×10 –5 bar).
Provide adequate ventilation in the environment for a safe operation of the cooker
hood.
Follow the local laws applicable for external air evacuation.
WARNING!!
In certain circumstances electrical appliance may be a danger hazard.
• There must be adequate ventilation in the room when the cooker hood is
used at the same time as appliances burning gas or other fuels.
• Do not check the status of the filters while the cooker hood is operating.
• Do not touch the light bulb within half an hour after appliance use.
• Do not flambé under the cooker hood.
• Avoid opening gasometer when there is no pan on the stove , as it is
damaging for the filters and a fire hazard
• Constantly check frying food to avoid overheated oil becoming a fire hazard
• Disconnect the electrical plug prior to any maintenance.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
• This cooker hood is designed for permanent fixture.
• Connect to mains supply. Check voltage and frequency given on the rating plate located on the
inside of the hood. Connect the mains cable to a power socket or to a omnipolar switch with a
contact gap of at least 3mm. The mains cable must be connected to a suitable and easily
accessible fixed power point. As the electrical installation must comply with the laws and
regulations in force only a qualified and authorized electrican must install the hood including
connecting it to a omnipolar switch with a contact gap of at least 3mm.
• Connect the mains cable if provided with a plug to a power socket. The user must have access
to the power socket to be able to connect and disconnect the plug once the hood is mounted
and fixed.

If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or
similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
The manufacturer will decline all responsibility if the governing health and safety laws are not
adhered to, which permit safe and correct use of the hood and electrical connections.
ATTENTION: If the light does not work, check to see if the light bulb is in correctly.
MOUNTING OF THE HOOD ON THE WALL
• Drill 4 holes of Φ6 on the wall, which correspond to the position (B-Z) of the Fig. 1.
• Hang the hood on the 2 holes by using the screws with expanding plugs, which are
appropriate for walls of concrete, plasterboard etc.
• Fix definitely the hood through the 2 security holes.
• Air that is used for exhausting fumes from appliances burning gas or other fuels,
must not be discharged into a flue.
• The minimum distance between the supporting surface for the cooking vessels
(pots) on the
hob and the lowest part of the cooker hood must be at least 65 cm.
Regulations concerning the discharge of air have to be adhered to.
CHANGING FROM EXHAUSTING TO FILTERING (Fig. 1,2,3,4)
At first remove the metallic filter (G) and turn the small lever (L) from the position (A) to
the position (F), then fix the charcoal filter, lastly replace the metallic filter (G). Now the
hood is ready for the filtering function.
USE AND MAITENANCE
·It is recommended to operate the appliance prior to cooking.
·It is recommended to leave the appliance in operation for 15 minutes after cooking
is terminated in order to completely eliminate cooking vapors and odours.

Before servicing, repairing or cleaning the hood, make sure the appliance is
disconnected from the mains supply either by removing the plug or switching
the power socket to OFF.
• It is recommendable to clean the metallic filter frequently by carrying out the
following instructions:
o Remove the metallic filter from the cooker hood and wash it in a solution of
water and neutral liquid detergent, leaving to soak. Rinse thoroughly with
warm water and leave to dry. The metallic filter may also be washed in the
dishwasher.
o The metallic filter may alter in color after several washes. This is not cause
for customer complaint nor replacement of metallic filter.
• The charcoal filter purifies the air that is replaced in the environment. This filter is
neither washable nor re-useable and must be replaced at least every 3 months.
The saturation of the charcoal filter depends on the frequency of the use of the
appliance, by the type of cooking and the regularity of cleaning the metallic filter.
• Clean the fan and other surfaces of the cooker hood regularly using a cloth
moistened with a non abrasive liquid detergent.
There is a fire risk if cleaning is not carried out in accordance with the
instructions.
THE MANUFACTURER DECLINES ALL RESPONSIBILITY FOR EVENTUAL
DAMAGES CAUSED BY BREACHING THE ABOVE WARNINGS.

Guarantee Conditions
1. The guarantee is valid for Twelve (12) months commencing when the appliance is handed over to the first retail
purchaser, which must be verified by purchase invoice or similar documentation.
2. Kelvinator guarantees the equipment against defective material or faulty manufacture, provided it is used for
domestic use from the date ofpurchase by the original purchaser. If not used as above-mentioned, the warranty
period will limited.
3. If the appliance is used or installed more than Fifty (50) kilometres from the nearest Kelvinator Authorised
Service Agent, the additional distance covered shall be for the account of the purchaser.
4. The risk in regard to appliances to be repaired shall at all times remain with the purchaser.
5. This guarantee is given on condition that only genuine Kelvinator parts and accessories are used at all times in
the appliance.
6. Kelvinator shall not be responsible for damage of any kind resulting from electricity fluctuations, faults in the
building wiring, faulty installations, improper use of controls or failure to use the appliance in accordance with
the operating instructions and/or general misuse and/or abuse, which would include unforeseen accidents, wear
and tear, and/or earthquake, flood, lightning or any other natural disaster beyond the control of Kelvinator.
7. Any attempt by an unauthorised person to repair or tamper with the appliance shall render this guarantee null
and void.
8. This guarantee does not include bulbs, loose glass, glass oven doors, enamelled surfaces, discolouring of
stainless steel surfaces, filters and other parts subject to wear and tear.
9. Kelvinator shall not be responsible in terms of this guarantee for the replacement or repair of any parts of the
appliance if damaged during transit, where packaging damage is visible.
10. Repairs carried out under guarantee do not extend the guarantee period for the appliance. Parts removedduring
guarantee repairs become the property of Kelvinator.
11. This guarantee shall be available only to a purchaser of Kelvinator appliances from an authorised Electrolux
Home Products/Kelvinator Dealer or Distributor in and where the appliance has been retained for use in the
Republic South Africa, Namibia, Swaziland, Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
12. Failure to produce documentary proof of the date or original acquisition by the original purchaser will result in
normal charges being levied for the work carried out and the parts supplied.
13. The liability of Kelvinator under this guarantee is limited to the replacement and/or repair of the defective parts
within the guarantee period and does not extend to be installation or removal of the appliance. Furthermore,
Kelvinator does not accept responsibility or liability to compensate for any consequential loss or damage of any
kind caused by or due to the failure of operation or malfunction of any equipment to which this guarantee
applies.
14. It is at the sole discretion of Kelvinator that, in terms of guarantee, consideration be given to replace the
appliance due to various parts failing of a similar nature or in the event of the appliance being in a state of
beyond repair.
