thoroughly recommends reading these instructions before using the Site Light, even if you
have used one before. Reading these instructions carefully and understanding them fully will enable you
to perform tasks correctly and will prevent injury to yourself or someone else as well as prevent damage
to the equipment.
SAFETY GUIDELINES
Ensure power is correct for site light requirements.
Ensure halogen bulb is correct wattage and voltage.
Using bulb of higher than rated wattage or voltage can increase risk of damage to
light or personal injury.
Replace or repair damaged power cords immediately.
Replace or repair damaged or missing lenses and safety wire guards immediately
Refer all servicing of electrical parts to a qualified electrician.
Protect power cords from contact with sharp objects, chemicals or hot surfaces.
Do not operate light around standing water.
Do not operate light without halogen bulb.
CAUTION
This product has been carefully designed for its intended purpose. It must not be modified in
any way. Any alterations may invalidate product approvals and your insurance.
Bulb and light head become extremely hot during use. Keep away from flammable objects and
handle with care. Always unplug the light and let it cool for 10 minutes before attempting to
touch light head(s). Do not remove safety wire guard or lens whilst light is switched on. Turn
light off and allow cooling before servicing. Do not operate light without safety wire guard or
lens.
Do not direct light at persons or look directly at lighted bulb.
If an extended power cable is required, use only 3 core (1.5mm2) cable fully unwound. Ensure
that correct variant (11OV/240V) is used.
Tripod legs must be secured with sandbags or other suitable ballast;
when used on uneven or loose surfaces
when used in windy areas
POSITIONING
Ensure adequate safe distances exist between adjacent surfaces (see fig. A). Ensure that no object is placed within
one metre in front of the light. (see fig. B)
Initial connection to the power source must be done with care. Ensure no personnel are in contact with the light, and
switch on. Immediately check each light to satisfy that no danger is present.
We recommend that safety goggles be used during initial installation to provide protection should the glass shatter.
An adequate cable length should be provided to the supply point, and care should be taken to remove the risk of
obstruction.
A daily check is recommended to inspect for any physical damage or cable abrasions, and to replace tubes and
guards when necessary. Check also that the halogen mini-pod site light is positioned to maintain safe site conditions.
Do not connect to the power source until the halogen mini-pod site light is in the required position.
Disconnect before moving.
ABOUT THE HALOGEN BULB
The halogen bulb must be within 6°off horizontal when in operation to get maximum life expectancy. Fingerprints
on the glass surface will cause the halogen bulb to fail prematurely. Hold the bulb using the protective material
provided in its package or with a piece of clean dry cloth. If the bulb glass surface is touched, clean the cold bulb
with alcohol and a soft cloth.
INSTALLATION OF HALOGEN BULB
Ensure the light has been disconnected from the power supply and allow 10 to 20 minutes to allow it to
cool before opening the front. Open lens compartment on light head by loosening screw on top of head
(see fig. 1).
Remove bulb from packaging carefully leaving it in its protective wrapping. Do not touch the halogen bulb
with fingers this will cause early failure (see fig. 2). Hold it with a clean dry cloth, and insert against the sprung
contacts. Expose the end caps of the bulb and insert one end into one of the bulb sockets. Push the bulb
carefully against socket until other end can be lowered into place (see fig. 3) .
Close lens compartment and secure screw. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
NOTE: Use only replacement bulbs of the correct voltage supplied for this type of light, do not use any other
type of bulb.
The front cover and cable gland must be correctly sealed to prevent the ingress of water or physical
objects. Replace the front glass before reuse, if cracked or damaged, disconnect power before opening.
Never direct the light directly at any persons, or look directly at the light. Damage may be caused to the
eyes, or it may cause dizziness.

ELECTRICAL DATA
A flexible type of cable has been used that is suitable for most applications. Please check if site conditions
demand special considerations. The cable sheath will be either Blue or Black for 240 volt use, or Yellow for 110
volt use. The internal colour coded wires for both voltages are Brown for live (L), Blue for neutral (N) and
Yellow/Green for earth (E).
When using a 240 volt supply with 13 amp plug, an in-line fuse rated at 5 amps should be used.
The maximum permitted halogen bulb is 500 watts.
The mini-pod site light must be earthed and is rated at lP44 when using a BS4343 rated plug. When using a
standard l3 amp plug to BSI 363/a the plug does not conform to IP44 and adequate care must be taken to
ensure the plug is not in contact with moisture.
