Your new Kenwood Cook-Pan is a versatile appliance which can be
used to fry, braise, roast, bake, steam, boil, simmer and cook
casseroles. To reap maximum benefit from your Cook-Pan keep it
ready for use on a worktop for whenever you need it.
When using electrical appliances basic safety precautions should
always be followed, including the following:-

2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.

wet.
5. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by
or near children.

Connecting to Power
Before switching on make sure that the electricity supply is the same
as that indicated on the rating plate.
IMPORTANT (UK ONLY)
The wires in the cord are coloured as follows:
GREEN and YELLOW EARTH
BLUE NEUTRAL
BROWN LIVE
NOTE:
This appliance complies with European Economic Community Radio
Interference Directive 89/336/EEC.
For packing purposes the vented
knob is fitted inside the lid. To
refit, unscrew the screw, reverse
the knob and flange to the
outside of the cover and refit the
washer and screw as shown in
Fig. 1.
Ensure that your Cook-Pan is
disconnected from the electricity
supply. Wash the pan and lid in
hot soapy water and dry
thoroughly. Your Kenwood Cook-
Pan is fully immersible.
Before using for the first time
wipe the inside of the base with a
paper kitchen towel smeared with
cooking oil. The Cook-Pan is now
ready for use and it is
unnecessary to condition it again.
The outside of the pan is also
non-stick coated but this surface
need not be conditioned.
DO NOT IMMERSE THE
TEMPERATURE CONTROL IN
WATER
1. Turn the Temperature Control knob to its minimum position.
2. Push the Temperature Control firmly into its socket located under
one of the handles and plug the appliance into the power supply.
3. Select the temperature setting required by aligning the number on
the Temperature Control knob with the lens of the thermostat
indicator light. The temperature Indicator Light will glow and as soon
as the temperature has been reached the light will go out. At this
stage food can be added to the Cook-Pan. During cooking the light
will cycle on and off indicating the temperature is being maintained.
To establish the simmering position on the Temperature Control, set the
knob to 5 and wait until the liquid boils. Turn the knob back until the light
goes out. This is the simmer setting.
To open the vent, turn the fin on the vented knob in an anti-clockwise
direction. The vent is usually closed during moist cooking, i.e. steaming,
stewing, braising and open for dry cooking, i.e. roasting, baking.
To dry fry, use the tilt leg on the pan to raise one end of the cook pan.
The fat and juices from the food will run to the lower side allowing you
to cook "fat free" in the higher side.
When checking or removing food from the pan, the lid can be positioned
at an angle by resting the tilt handle on the lid into the handle of the
cook-pan.

The non-stick finish should last indefinitely provided the following points
are noted.
1. Use plastic coated or wooden spatulas suitable for hot surfaces.
2. Avoid cutting on or digging into the non-stick surface.
Note: Light or fine scratches will not affect the non-stick properties of
your Cook-Pan.
After cooking, disconnect from the power supply. Remove the
temperature control from the socket on the Cook-Pan, taking care in
handling the control as it may be hot after use. Wipe the control and
mains lead with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
Always switch off, unplug and allow the pan to cool before washing:
never pour cold water into a hot Cook-Pan as warping may result.
Do not immerse the Temperature Control in water.
Immerse Cook-Pan and lid in fresh hot sudsy water. Wash both
thoroughly inside and out and, if necessary, use a soft bristle brush to
remove any stubborn spots from the cooking surface.
Rinse thoroughly and dry.
It is very important that the area around the socket is kept clean and is
dried thoroughly. Do not use metal type scouring pads or cleaners to
clean the terminal pin area of the socket.
If the cord is damaged it must, for safety reasons, be replaced by
KENWOOD or an authorised KENWOOD repairer.
