This In-depth manual describes the functions of the NX-200/ NX-200S/ NX-210/ NX-300/ NX-300S/ NX-410/ NX-411/
NX-700/ NX-700H/ NX-800/ NX-800H/ NX-900/ NX-901 transceiver and how to configure its various functions.
This document is created for the product having the following design specifications.
K: Designed for the North American market.
How to Read the In-depth Manual
The In-depth Manual has the following sections. Each function has reference data that allows you to find the cross-
referenced information. Refer to “Configuration using KPG-111D/ KPG-111DN” for functions that can be configured using
KPG-111D/ KPG-111DN. Abbreviations for sections are used to specify the documents.
Function Reference (FUNC)
Describes all functions of the transceiver.
Field Programming Reference (FRPG)
Describes how to configure the transceiver data by using KPG-111D/ KPG-111DN.
Customer Support Information (CSI)
Describes the methods for installing options of the transceiver and the adjustment methods.

Turning the transceiver ON while pressing and holding the Side 1 key cause the
firmware version to appear on the main display.
Mobile transceiver:
Turning the transceiver ON while pressing and holding the Triangle key cause the
firmware version to appear on the main display.

About Notations
The following notations are used in this manual.

The characters in [ ] indicate the name of the operating portion of the transceiver and the key of the PC.
“ ” (Double Quotation Mark)
The characters in “ ” indicate the name of the functions, buttons, and menus shown on the KPG-111D/ KPG-111DN or the
display of the transceiver.
Bold Letters
The characters in bold letters indicate the name of the windows, tabs, checkboxes in KPG-111D/ KPG-111DN and
functions assigned to keys on the transceiver.
[ ] + [ ]
This notation is used for describing functions activated by pressing 2 keys on the PC keyboard at the same time. For
example, the notation to enter a capitalized A on the PC is [Shift] + [a] for pressing the [a] key while pressing the [Shift]
key.
PF (Programmable Function) Key
This function is used for describing the key that is assigned with any function. When the Reset function is assigned to the
[A] key, the [A] key is described as “the Reset key”.
Notations for transceiver model names
“Portable” and “Mobile” are designated in this manual as the generic name for a type of transceivers. Transceivers
applicable to Portable and Mobile are as follows.

About the Programming Software
Various functions and parameters of the transceiver can be configured by using the KPG-111D/ KPG-111DN software.
Various functions can be enabled by connecting the transceiver to a PC by use of KPG-36/ KPG-36A/ KPG-36U (Portable)
or KPG-46/ KPG-46A/ KPG-46U (Mobile) programing cables and writing the data configured using KPG-111D/
KPG-111DN to the transceiver. In this manual, the description of each function in the Function Reference may have a
corresponding reference in the Field Programming Reference. Therefore, you can configure the function by referring to the
function also appearing in the Field Programming Reference.
About KPG-111DN
KPG-111DN is the programming software to configure functions for the transceiver to be used in the U.S.A. KPG-111DN is
compliant with the FCC Part 90 standard so that the specification does not allow to configure “Wide” (25 kHz) for Channel
Spacing with a VHF or UHF (except 300 MHz) transceiver in the frequency band regulated by the FCC Part 90. For
functions other than the above function, specifications of KPG-111DN are the same as those of KPG-111D.

Zone data in a Conventional Group, LTR Trunking System or NXDN Trunking System can be configured using KPG-111D/
DN.
In addition, zone data in a Conventional Group and zone data for Site Roaming and Site Roaming with RAN can be
configured as an NXDN Conventional system zone. (Refer to 8.14 Site Roaming on page 173.)
Conventional Group (Analog Conventional System/ NXDN Conventional System)
A zone in an Analog Conventional system consists of Conventional Channels that are used for communicating in
analog mode.
A zone in an NXDN Conventional system consists of Conventional Channels that are used for communicating in digital
mode using the NXDN protocol.
LTR Trunking System
This zone consists of GIDs used for communicating using the LTR (Logic Trunked Radio) Trunking protocol.
NXDN Trunking System
This zone consists of GIDs used for communicating using the NXDN protocol.
The transceiver can be used in Single System or Multiple Systems.
Single System:
Only a single system can be used.
Multiple Systems:
The system to be used can be configured for each zone by selecting from system 1 to 8. A system can be switched
just by changing a zone.
Site Roaming
This zone consists of channels in an NXDN Conventional system in which Site Roaming is enabled.
Site Roaming with RAN
This zone consists of channels in an NXDN Conventional system in which Site Roaming is enabled.
For NX-200/ NX-210/ NX-300/ NX-410/ NX-411/ NX-700/ NX-700H/ NX-800/ NX-800H/ NX-900/ NX-901, a maximum of
128 zone data for Conventional Group, LTR Trunking System, NXDN Trunking System, Site Roaming and Site Roaming
with RAN in total can be configured for the transceiver. A maximum of 250 channels or GID data per zone can be
configured for the transceiver. A maximum of 512 channels or GID data can be configured for a transceiver in total.
For NX-200S/ NX-300S, a maximum of 4 zone data for Conventional Group, LTR Trunking System, NXDN Trunking
System, Site Roaming and Site Roaming with RAN in total can be configured for the transceiver.
A maximum of 16 channels or GID data per zone can be configured for the transceiver. A maximum of 64 channels or GID
data can be configured for a transceiver in total.
Note
• The number of zones that can be configured varies depending on the number of channels or GIDs and repeaters.
• The number of channels or GIDs that can be configured for each zone varies depending on the number of zones and repeaters.

About Communications Systems
The transceiver can transmit and receive by using the following communications system: Conventional Group (Analog
Conventional System/ NXDN Conventional System), LTR Trunking System, or NXDN Trunking System.
Conventional Group (Analog Conventional System/ NXDN Conventional System)
In each system of the Conventional Group, the transceiver can communicate in analog mode, the NXDN digital mode. or
mixed mode.
To use the transceiver in each system of the Conventional Group, various parameters for a channel, such as transmit and
receive frequencies, and parameters for other various functions related to transmission and reception must be configured
for a zone in the Conventional Group by using KPG-111D/ DN.
Analog Mode
Analog mode is the mode to transmit and receive an analog signal. To use this communication mode, “Analog” must be
configured for Channel Type by using KPG-111D/ DN.
NXDN Digital Mode
NXDN digital mode is the mode to transmit and receive an NXDN digital signal. To use this communication mode,
“NXDN” must be configured for Channel Type by using KPG-111D/ DN.
This communication mode is also used for the zones of Site Roaming (NXDN) and Site Roaming with RAN (NXDN).
Site Roaming is the function for the transceiver to migrate automatically to the site (channel) providing better radio
environment by receiving a synchronization signal transmitted from the repeaters in multiple sites at regular time
intervals, and detecting the RSSI level.

Mixed Mode
Mixed mode is the mode to receive both an analog signal and an NXDN digital signal. To use this communication
mode, “Mixed” must be configured for Channel Type by using KPG-111D/ DN.
When transmitting in this mode, the transceiver transmits using the communication mode configured for Transmit Mode
(Analog or NXDN). However, the communication mode varies depending on the receiving status.
LTR Trunking System
In an LTR Trunking system, the transceiver can communicate by sending and receiving an LTR ID (Encode ID, Decode ID)
via a repeater.
To use the transceiver in an LTR Trunking system, various parameters for a GID, such as Encode ID and Decode ID, and
parameters for other various functions related to transmission and reception must be configured for a zone in the LTR
Trunking system by using KPG-111D/ DN. In addition, a repeater supporting an LTR Trunking system is required.
NXDN Trunking System
In an NXDN Trunking system, the transceiver can communicate by sending and receiving a Unit ID (or Group ID) via a
repeater.
To use the transceiver in an NXDN Trunking system, various parameters for a GID, such as Group ID, and parameters for
other various functions related to transmission and reception must be configured for a zone in the NXDN Trunking system
by using KPG-111D/ DN. In addition, a repeater supporting an NXDN Trunking system is required.
