Installation
Installation of the KeyLlama USB Value takes just seconds.
Simply plug it in between the USB keyboard and the USB port. No software or dri ers are needed.
The KeyLlama immediately starts recording e erything that is typed. The de ice is completely
stealthy.
Reading the Data
Once data has been captured in record mode, it may be retrie ed on any computer with a USB
keyboard and port. Each de ice has a 3 or 4 key password combination: by default , m, p. Type
“ mp” in sequence and hold (first press ‘ ’ and hold, then ‘m’ and hold, finally ‘p’ and keep holding
all three down). You should see: mppp When the keyboard stops typing, you know the
keylogger is switching to flash dri e mode.

Flash Dri e mode disables the USB keyboard, so the following operations should be done with the
mouse.
After a few seconds, the hardware keylogger will automatically be detected as a mass storage
de ice. After another moment, the de ice will be isible as a new “Remo able Dri e”. In Windows,
select “Computer” or “My Computer” to open this disk.
The Flash Dri e will contain the file keys.txt with a text log of all captured data. This file can be
iewed and searched with any text editor, such as Notepad or MS Word.
Note: While in Flash Dri e mode, the USB keyboard is disabled. Use the mouse to operate on the
log file.
Erase Memory
Select the keys.txt file and select Delete. A new file will be created when the keylogger is
reinstalled.

Configuration Options
Software Configuration:
No software is required to use the keylogger, but we include a handy program that is helpful for
changing the configuration: The program is named KeyLlamaConfig.exe and comes installed on
the keylogger.
Step 2 allows you to create two passwords.
Lea e Password #2 as “ mp” until you ha e
tested your new password to make sure it
works!
In Step 3 you can select to log Special Keys
(like Ctrl, Enter, F1, F2, etc).
You may also elect to disable recording.
Step 1 allows you to select a keyboard
language setting. This allows the keylogger
to be used with many languages, in addition
to the default US English.
Double-click KeyLlamaConfig.exe to begin

In Step 4, you must select the appropriate dri e letter, by matching it to letter listed under
“My Computer” or “Computer”
In this case, the “Remo able Dri e” is letter F, so that is what has been selected for Step 4.
Step 5 simply confirms all your settings. If
all is correct, click “Apply”. If you need to
make changes, select “Exit” and start o er.
After a few moments, this screen will appear
to show that your changes ha e been made.
Unplug and then reinstall the KeyLlama to
test.

Manual Configuration:
Basic changes may be configured through the file: options.txt. Use any text editor to change the
options.txt:
Be ery careful – any errors can render the keylogger inoperable! Use the software configuration
option if you ha e any doubts.
$Password1 sets the 3 or 4-key combination for triggering Flash Dri e mode. Default alue is
mp.
$Password2 sets the 3 or 4-key combination for triggering Flash Dri e mode. Default alue is
123.
IMPORTANT: Not all combinations work! Because of the way USB keyboards are designed, some
characters will cancel others out when both are held down. Keep one password as " mp" until you
ha e tested to ensure the new is OK.
$Spe ialKeys sets the logging le el for special keys, such as Enter, Escape, F1...F12 etc. Special
keys are logged in brackets, i.e. [Ent]. Allowed alues are No (only text is logged) and Yes (text
with all special keys are logged). Default alue is No.
$Status allows you to to disable logging, howe er does not affect mode switching. Allowed alues
are On (logging enabled) and Off (logging disabled). Default alue is On.
Example configuration file settings:
$Password1= mp
$Password2=x p
$SpecialKeys=no
$Status=on

Troubleshooting
The KeyLlama USB will not work for the following hardware configurations:
1. PS/2 keyboards (e en with adapters)
2. Internal laptop keyboards
The keylogger does not enter Flash Drive Mode
Please check the following:
1. Ensure the keylogger is inserted between the USB keyboard and the USB port on the PC or
hub: Keyboard KeyLlama Computer
2. Is your 3-key combination correct? The default is ,m,p
3. Are you pressing the 3 keys sequentially? (First press ‘ ’ and hold, then ‘m’ and hold, finally
‘p’ and keep holding all three down)
4. Sometimes, this issue is caused be another USB de ice interfering. USB printers are the
most common problem. For testing:
•Disconnect all USB devices except the keyboard and the mouse.
•Install the keylogger between keyboard and computer
•Type a test sentence
•Us the 3-key combination to enter flash dri e mode and see if it was recorded properly
If that fixes it, connect the printer and the keylogger to the USB ports
that are physically as far apart as possible – like in the photo at right.
This will help ensure they are on a separate internal USB hub.
It still doesn’t work!
If you are still experiencing problems, please do the following:
1. Check if the problem appears on a different keyboard.
2. Check if the problem appears on a different computer.
3. Contact us (http://KeyLlama.com/). We sell se eral models of keyloggers, so please be
sure to tell us you ha e the KeyLlama 4MB USB Value.
