Digital functionality: The K.M.E. DA 428
and DA 230 are fully digital multi-channel ampli-
fiers with comprehensive DSP features and four
(DA 230: two) Class D amplifier channels of the
newest generation. The DSP functions contain
matrix router, six fully parametric equalizers, two
crossover networks, high-/low-pass filter, delay,
dynamic processor with compressor/Peak RMS
limiter, gain control fixed or variable, and polarity.
All parameters as well as user navigation can be
managed using a simple 5-key navigation pad to-
gether with 4 rotary encoders. The sophisticated
user interface is completed by a graphic LCD dis-
play and 4 RGB LEDs informing about relevant
operation parameters, preset names and state of
the single channels. Practice oriented control fea-
tures make also complex adjustments on the de-
vice like preset settings easy. All settings can be
locked in different levels via the lock function and
can be saved from unwanted changed by entering
a password. Permanent monitoring of all relevant
parameters including log book functions like using
and power hour meter make it a perfect device for
rental companies.
The storage medium: In the amplifier is also im-
plemented a SD card reader in the front, this inter-
face enables to transfer K.M.E. preset files or firm-
ware updates (later software updates) saved on an
SD card efficiently to other devices. The internal
storage is devided into the free-programmable user
sector and the fixed factory sector.
The software: By means of an editor software
you can create independently your own presets
quickly on the computer, save this K.M.E. preset
files on a SD card and transfer it to the DA 428.

Preset-Editor Software
The optional software enables a comfor-
table adjustment of the system presets for
DA 428 / DA 230 on a PC. All values and
adjustments are edited by the respective
input mask, saved as system preset on the
SD card and transferred as preset file to
DA 428 / DA 230
XSL-Stylesheet Software
By means of the software program,
which you can download for free you
get a quick overview about system
adjustments (gain, EQ, crossover,
limiter, delay) of one of the presets
saved on the SD card. The preset file
will be shown independently from the
platform on your web browser.
The connections: On the input side four
(DA 230: two) analogue line-in or two (DA 230:
one) digital line-in connectors as well as four link-
out connectors are available which could be used
analogue, digital or combined. The outside power
connection was realised using a self-locking
Neutrik PowerCon connector, 4 Neutrik Speakon
sockets (two are wired ›bi-amp‹).
The field of application: Its wide-range appli-
cation scope lasts from monitor- over the use in
passive components to the realization of multi-
channel systems within sound installations.
The DA 230 is mainly intended for the amplifi-
cation of more powerful reinforcement compo-
nents.

Die DA 428 ist ein vollständig digitaler Class-D Hochleistungs-
verstärker mit 4 getrennten und unabhängigen Kanälen mit jeweils
700 W Ausgangsleistung an 4 Ohm Last. Das kompakte,
leichtgewichtige 19"-2HE - Gerät enthält zunächst umfassende
Audio-DSP-Funktionen wie Matrix-Router, 6 voll parametrische
EQs, 2 Frequenzweichen, Delay und Dynamikprozessor jeweils
pro Kanal.
Alle Parameter dieser Module sowie weitere Eingaben werden
direkt über das 5-Tasten- Navigationspad und 4 Drehgeber mit
Tastfunktion am Gerät eingestellt. Ein grafikfähiges LCD- Displays
und 4 RGB- LEDs bilden die Ausgabeschnittstelle der durchdach-
ten professionellen Benutzeroberfläche und informieren auch über
aktuelle Betriebsparameter des Gerätes wie Eingangs- und Aus-
gangspegel sowie den Zustand der einzelnen Kanäle. Factory- und
User- Presets können im Gerät abgespeichert werden, zudem steht
ein SD- Speicherkartenslot zur Verfügung. Durch diese Schnittstelle
können Presets und andere Parameter zwischengespeichert und
besonders bequem in andere Geräte übertragen werden. Eine
Editor- Software ist wie diverse Firmware- Zusatz-module ebenfalls
vorgesehen.
Eingangsseitig stehen 4 analoge oder 2 digitale Anschlüsse zur
Verfügung welche auch kombiniert genutzt werden können, weiter-
hin stehen Link- Buchsen für das jeweils benutzte Eingangssignal
oder als “processed”- Digitalausgänge zur Verfügung. Ausgangs-
seitig stehen 4 Neutrik Speakon-Buchsen zur Verfügung
(2 davon sind doppelt belegt für Bi-Amp-Mode).
Als digitale Eingangssignale werden AES/EBU sowie S/PDIF mit
jeweils 16-24 Bit und 32-192 kHz akzeptiert, vom Gerät generiert
wird AES/EBU mit 24Bit und 48 kHz. Ein weiteres Features ist das
PFC- unterstützte, Audio- optimierte Weitbereichs-Schaltnetzteil
(SMPS) neuester Generation. Die Stromzuführung zum Gerät
wurde über einen verriegelbaren Neutrik PowerCon- Anschluss
realisiert. Umfangreiche Schutzschaltungen und digitale
Überwachungsfunktionen runden die professionelle Ausstattung
dieses Gerätes ab, dessen breitbandige Anwendungsmöglichkeiten
vom Monitorbetrieb über den Systembetrieb mit passiven PA-
Komponenten (In aktiv getrennten PA- Anlagen) bis hin zur
Realisation von Mehrkanalsystemen in Festinstallationen reichen.
Ein Modulschacht für zukünftige Erweiterungen wie
z.B. Anbindung an Audio- und Kontrollnetzwerke wurde ebenfalls
integriert welcher serienmäßig mit dem Standardmodul RSNC
ausgestattet ist, welches eine RS232- Schnittstelle und einen NC-
Meldekontakt beinhaltet. Für umfassende Fernsteuer- und Fern-
kontrollfunktionalität wurde also vorgesorgt, einfache Fernsteuer-
vorgänge können bereits bei seriell gelieferten Geräten erfolgen.
The DA 428 is a completely digital 4-channel
amplifier with 700W@4ohmoutput power on each
channel. This compact, light- weight 19"-2U device is
equipped with comprehensive DSP features like matrix
router, 6 fully parametric equalizers, two crossover
networks, delay and dynamic processor per channel.
All parameters as well as user navigation can be managed
using a simple 5-key navigation pad together with 4 rotary
encoders. The sophisticated user interface is completed by
a graphic LCD display and 4 RGB LEDs informing about
relevant operation parameters and state of the single
channels.
Factory and user presets may of cause be stored inside
the unit, an SD- card reader is implemented and can be
used to easily transfer preset and system information to
other units. An preset editor software and various firmware
add- ons are planned as well. On the inputs side are 4
analogue connections as well as 2 digital ports accepting
AES/EBU and SPDIF formats of 16 to 24 bit and 32 to 192
kHz sampling frequency. 4 link sockets, either carrying the
signal applied to the inputs can be routed as “processed”
digital outputs carrying AES/EBU of 24 bit / 48 kHz. The
designers also implemented a module slot for future
updates, i.e. connections to audio / control networks,
standard- fitted with module RSNC equipped with a RS232
connector and a ´normally closed´ contact feature. Global
remote control is guaranteed using future firmware
upgrade modules, but even the standard version contains
simple remote features.
Another important feature is the PFC controlled, audio-
optimized wide-range switched- mode power supply of the
last generation. The outside power connection was
realised using a self- locking Neutrik PowerCon connector,
4 Neutrik Speakon sockets (two are wired ´bi-amp´) ensure
the connection to the speaker systems.
An extensive set of protective circuits and digital monitoring
components is included ´´rounding off´´ the professional
features of this equipment usable for stage monitor
operation to system operation of passive PA components
or realization of professional multi- channel systems within
sound installations.
