electricians,qualiedengineersandnavalarchitects.Itisassumedthatyouunderstand
thegeneralprinciplesofmaritimeelectronicequipment.Y oumustalsobefamiliarwith
theinstallationofelectronicandmechanicalproducts.Youareexpectedtohavebasic
mechanicalskillsandfamiliaritywithhandlingofsensitiveelectronicequipment.

Thereceiverunitcanbeinstalledverticallyorhorizontallyusingtheintegratedmounting
brackets.
Prerequisites
AsuitablelocationfortheSR70mustbedenedpriortoinstallation.Theunitcanin
principlebemountedanywhereonboardtheship,providedthatthelocationisdryand
ventilated.Thephysicallengthofthecableslimitsthedistancebetweenthereceiverand
thehydrophone.
Youmustbeequippedwithastandardsetoftools.Thistoolsetmustcomprisethenormal
toolsforelectronicandelectromechanicaltasks.
Context
IfyoumounttheSR70onabulkhead,positiontheunitsothatalltheconnectorsarefacing
down.
Ensuremaximumphysicaldistancebetweenthetransceiverandthepowersupply.Thisis
importanttoreducenoise.
Procedure
1Observetheinstallationrequirements.
aThepositionmustbechosentottheavailablecablelengthsbetweenthereceiver
unitandtheotherunitsitconnectsto.
bMakesurethatenoughspaceismadeavailableformaintenancepurposes.
cMakesurethatadequateventilationisavailabletoavoidoverheating.
dMakesurethattheinstallationmethodallowsforthephysicalvibration,
movementsandforcesnormallyexperiencedonavessel.
