to/from the Computer
CAUTION: Use only the AC adapter included with your computer. Using other AC
adapters may damage the computer.
Connecting
CAUTION: DO NOT connect the office docking while the computer is powered on or in
the Sleep or Hibernation mode.
1. Make sure that the computer is turned off and disconnect all cables
from the computer.
2. Plug the DC cord of the AC adapter to the power connector of the
office docking (n).
3. Plug the female end of the AC power cord to the AC adapter and the
male end to an electrical outlet (o).
4. When the AC adapter is connected, power is being supplied from the
electrical outlet to the office docking. Now, you are ready to connect
the computer.

6
CAUTION:
zWhen you disconnect the AC adapter, disconnect from the electrical outlet first and
then from the office docking. A reverse procedure may damage the AC adapter or
the office docking.
zWhen unplugging the connector, always hold the plug head. Never pull on the cord.
NOTE:
zBe sure to use the AC adapter. The office docking will not function using the
computer’s battery power.
zWhen the AC adapter is connected, it also charges the battery pack when the
computer is connected.
5. Slide open the expansion bus connector cover on the computer.

7
6. Align the rear corners of the computer with the office docking (n)
and gently place the computer on top of the office docking (o),
making sure to align both the expansion bus connector of the
computer and the office docking.
CAUTION:
zDO NOT attempt to make connections if there is any object between the computer
and the office docking. Doing so could damage the computer and the office
docking.
zDO NOT attempt to move the office docking when it is connected to the computer.
zDO set the office docking on a flat surface. Setting up the office docking on an
uneven surface can result in poor contact.
zDO NOT use the office docking in a location where it will be subject to vibration. The
computer may disconnect from the office docking and malfunction as a result.
zIf the computer malfunctions while the office docking is connected, turn off the
computer, disconnect the office docking (see the next section), connect the AC
adapter to the computer, and check to see if the computer operates normally. If the
computer operates normally, the office docking may be malfunctioning.

Caring for the Office Docking
Taking good care of your office docking will ensure a trouble-free
operation and reduce the risk of damage to both your computer and office
docking.
zDO NOT place metal objects or containers of liquid on top of the
office docking. If paper clips, coins, or other metal objects, or water,
or other liquid spills, get inside the office docking, fire or electric
shock may result. Immediately unplug the power cable and remove
the computer from the office docking.
zDO any of the following malfunctions occur, immediately unplug the
power cable and remove the computer from the office docking:
– the office docking is damaged
– a foreign object is inside the office docking
– smoke is emitted
– an unusual smell is emitted
– the office docking is unusually hot
Continuing to use the office docking while any of the above
conditions are present may result in fire or electric shock.
zDO NOT touch the office docking and power cable during an
electrical storm. Electric shock may result.
zDO NOT place the office docking in an unstable location. If it
becomes unbalanced, it could fall over or drop, potentially causing an
injury.
zDO NOT connect a telephone line, or a network cable other than the
one specified, to the RJ-45 (LAN) port. If the RJ-45 port is connected
to a network such as the ones listed below, a fire or electric shock may
result:
– networks other than 1000Base-T, 100Base-T, or 10Base-T
– telephone lines (IP (Internet Protocol) telephone), conventional
external telephone lines, internal telephone lines (on-premise
switches), digital public telephone, etc.)
zDO avoid liquids, humidity, dust, and oil smoke. Continuing to use
the office docking while any of the above conditions are present may
result in fire or electric shock.

10
zDO NOT leave the office docking in the vehicle under extreme
temperatures for a long period of time. The heat may damage the
external plastic parts and some internal parts inside the office
docking. Continuing to use the office docking under such a condition
may cause a short circuit or insulation malfunction, etc, which may
result in a fire or electric shock.
