When using electrical appliances, basic precauons should always be followed to reduce the risk of re, electric shock, and
injury to persons, including the following:
1. Read all instrucons before installing or using the heater.
2. This heater is hot when in use. To avoid burns, do not let bare skin touch hot surfaces. Keep combusble materials, such as
furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes, etc. and curtains at least 36” (914mm) from the front of the heater.
3. Extreme cauon is necessary when any heater used by or near children or invalids and whenever the heater is le operang
and unaended.
4. Do not operate any heater aer it malfuncons. Disconnect power at service panel and have heater inspected by an author-
ized Kozy Heat dealer before reusing.
5. Do not use outdoors.
6. To disconnect the heater, turn the controls to OFF, and turn o the power to the heater circuit at the main disconnect
panel.
7. Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any venlaon or exhaust opening, as this may cause an electric shock, re,
or damage to the heater.
8. To prevent a possible re, do not block air intakes or exhaust in any manner not approved by the manufacturer.
9. A heater has hot and arcing or sparking parts inside. Do not use in areas where gasoline, paint, ammable vapors, or liquids
are used or stored.
10. Use this heater only as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by Hussong Mfg. Co., Inc. may cause re,
electric shock, or injury to persons.
11. ALWAYS plug the heater directly into a wall outlet/receptacle with the power cord. NEVER use with an extension cord or
relocaon power tap (outlet/power strip). Oponal electrical hardwire kit.
12. AVOID FIRE! Inspect all air vents to make sure they are free from dust, lint, or other blockage before use. Unplug the
appliance and clean with a vacuum ONLY. DO NOT rinse or allow the appliance to become wet.
13. This heater is not intended to be a primary heat source. It is for supplemental heat only.
14. ALWAYS disconnect this heater from the power supply before performing any assembly and cleaning.
15. NEVER plug this heater into an outlet that is old, cracked, or has any loose wires or connecons. Plugging this heater into a
faulty outlet could result in electric arcing within the outlet that could cause the outlet to overheat or catch re.
16. Verify the plug ts ght in the outlet. Faulty wall outlet connecons or loose plugs can cause the wall outlet to overheat.
17. This heater draws more current than other small heaters. Overheang may occur even if it has not occurred with the use of
other heaters.

1.3 Electrical Specicaons
This appliance is rated at 120VAC, 60Hz, 1500W.
Install on a dedicated 15 Amp (or higher) breaker.
The power cord supplied with the appliance has three
prongs: two at blades (live and neutral) and one round pin
(ground). If a 3-slot receptacle is not available, and adapter
(not included) MUST be used.
The green grounding lug extending from the adapter must
be connected to a permanent ground such as a properly
grounded outlet box. The adapter should not be used if a
three-slot grounded receptacle is available.
If you are installing this appliance in a recessed installaon
applicaon the provided electrical hardwire kit must be
used.
The provided electrical hardwire kit cannot be used with
the oponal oang mantel kit.
1.4 Appliance Preparaon
WARNING: This product includes glass components. Always
use extreme cauon when handling glass. Failure to do so
could result in personal injury or property damage.
Remove all parts and hardware from the carton and place
them on a clean, so, dry surface. Check the parts list to
verify all components are there. Dispose of packaging mate-
rials properly. Please recycle whenever possible.
You will need the following tools (not included):
• Phillips screwdriver
• Stud nder
• Level
• Tape measure
• Electric drill
• 1/4” wood drill bit

2.0 Assembly and Installaon
2.1 Installaon Planning
NOTE: Follow all naonal and local building and electrical codes.
• To reduce the risk of re, do not store or use gasoline or other ammable vapors and liquids in the vicinity of the heater.
• If using the power cord supplied, plan a locaon for the power cord to connect to an electrical box accordingly.
• Select a suitable locaon that is not suscepble to moisture and is away from drapes and furniture.
• Depending on your type of installaon the locaon of where the power cord exits the appliance may need to be changed.
Refer to “Secon 2.9 Electrical Outlet Locaon” for more informaon.
• If you are installing this replace in a recessed installaon then you must use the provided electrical hard-wire kit.
2.2 Selecng Your Installaon Opons
This appliance can be installed in several dierent opons. This appliance can be:
Wall Mounted
• Using the supplied hanging bracket the appliance can be hung on a wall.
Recessed installaon - Single Sided
• In this installaon you keep both block o plates installed on the replace. These block o plates cover the side glass
viewing areas.
Recessed Installaon - Corner Applicaon (Le or Right Sided)
• In this installaon you remove the block o plate of the side glass viewing area that you want visible.
Recessed Installaon - 3-Sided (Bay) Applicaon
• In this installaon you remove both block o plates of the side glass viewing area. You have the front and both side
viewing areas visible now.

2.3 Appliance Preparaon for Installaon
2.3.1 Standard Installaon
 Remove the screws that secure the cover plate on the side of the appliance. These screws secure the cover plate and the
nishing trim.
 Remove and discard the nishing trim. Reinstall the cover plate and screws. Complete on both sides of appliance. This
allows your framing to be ush with the body of the appliance so nishing material bus up against the 1/2” nishing edge.
2.3.2 Corner Installaon
 Remove the screws that secure the cover plate of the side of the appliance in which you want the side glass to be exposed.
Discard the cover plate. Reinstall the the nishing trim. This trim is where your nishing material will bu up against.
 On the side of the appliance that will not be an exposed corner remove the same screws that secure the cover plate and
nishing trim. Discard the nishing trim on this side. Reinstall the screws to secure the cover plate.
2.3.3 3-Sided (Bay) Installaon
 Remove the screws securing the cover plate on one side of the appliance which will expose the side glass.
 Discard the cover plate. These screws also secured the previously unused nishing trim. This nishing trim is in a shape of a
“C” and you will reinstall this trim with the previously removed screws. This trim is where your nishing material will bu up
against.
 Repeat for the other side of the appliance. You will now have all 3 sides of the appliance viewing glass exposed.

2.5 Framed Appliance Opening
Select a locaon not prone to moisture and is located at least 36” (914mm) away from the front of the appliance to
combusble materials such as curtains, drapes, furniture, bedding, paper, etc.
1. Create a rough opening specic to your type of installaon (Single Sided Installaon, Corner Installaon, 3-Sided Pier
Installaon) See Figure 2.1 thru Figure 2.3 for the dimensions.

2.6 Nailing Flange Installaon
The nailing anges come aached to the appliance. There are (2) nailing anges on the top of the appliance and (2) nailing
anges along the boom of the appliance.
Fold out the nailing ange as shown in Figure 2.5. Use the nailing ange to secure the appliance to framing.

2.7 1-Piece Rectangle Surround Installaon and Removal
The rectangle surround is an oponal accessory for the Osseo e50, e64, and e80.
• This surround can only be installed when the appliance is installed in a recessed single sided installaon.
• This surround is recommended when you have an unnished or exposed edge of drywall, le, or wood.
• The surround is held on by magnec brackets at the top and magnets at the boom. Pull trim forward and up to remove
from brackets.
Installaon:
1. Locate the (2) phillips screws shown in Figure 2.6. Remove these screws.
2. Install the base bracket as shown in Figure 2.7. There is a small tab on the bracket where you will posion this inside the
air intake louver. The opposite side of the bracket willbe aached with the screw removed in step 1.
Note: This base bracket is the only item allowed inside the air intake openings.

3. Install the magnec hanging brackets as shown using the supplied screws. These brackets are adjustable to
accommodate your nishing material. See Figure 2.8.
4. Install the rectangle surround by hanging the top of the surround on the magnec hanging brackets as shown in
Figure 2.9.
5. Use the provided magnets to hold the boom of the surround to the replace as shown in Figure 2.10. The magnets
will sit on the boom edge of the replace and should be hidden by the boom ange of the surround.

2.8 4-Piece Finishing Trim Installaon
The nishing trim is an oponal accessory for the Osseo e50, e64, and e80.
• This surround can only be installed when the appliance is installed in a recessed single sided installaon.
• This surround is recommended when you are nishing the appliance in a smooth wall nish or are using very thin nish-
ing materials.
• The trim pieces are installated with the supplied double sided adhesive tape.
Installaon:
 Install the top and boom trim pieces as shown in Figure 2.11.
 Install the sides trim pieces as shown in Figure 2.12.
