■ Overheated fats and ils may sp ntane usly ignite. F d inv lving the use
f fats and ils, e.g. chips, may nly be c ked under supervisi n. Never
extinguish ignited fats and ils with water! Put the lid n, turn ff the
c king z ne and rem ve the pan.
■ If cracks, fractures r any ther defects appear in y ur glass ceramic h b,
immediately switch ff the appliance. Disc nnect fuse immediately and call
the Cust mer service.
■ If the h b cann t be switched ff due t a defect in the sens r c ntr l
immediately disc nnect y ur appliance and call the Cust mer service.
■ Take care when w rking with attachments! The c nnecting cable must n t
c ntact the h t c king z nes.
■ The glass ceramic h b sh uld n t be used as a st rage area.
■ D n t place c mbustible r ignitable bjects n the c king area which
might be danger us if the appliance is switched n unintenti nally.
■ D n t switch the c king z ne n if n t using it f r c king. Never use the
appliance t heat a r m! This w uld result in impr per perating
c nditi ns.
■ D n t put kitchen f il r plastic nt the c king z ne. Keep everything
which c uld melt, such as plastics, f il and in particular sugar and sugary
f ds away fr m the h t c king z ne. Rem ve sugar immediately fr m the
h b when it is still h t with a scraper t av id damage
■ Av id repeated burning f f d residues and b iling ver.
■ Lime dep sits are harmful t the c king z ne.
Before using the appliance for
the first time
Rem ve packaging and n n-essential c mp nents. Bef re preparing the first
meals clean the glass ceramic h b by means f a m ist cl th and a bit
washing-up liquid.
The h b is resistant against thermal sh cks (c ldness and heat) and als very
r bust.
■ Always ensure that n hard bjects are dr pped nt the c king surface.
P inted bjects falling nt y ur h b might break it.
■ Please bserve the cleaning and servicing instructi ns. Be especially careful
t keep the sens r keys clean since s iling c uld be mistaken f r finger
c ntact by the appliance. Never put anything (pans, tea t wels etc.) nt
the sens r keys! If f d b ils ver nt the sens r keys, we advise y u t
activate the emergency switch.
■ When switching n the c king z nes a sh rt buzzing n ise may be heard
fr m the heating. This is design-specific and has n influence n quality
and perati n.
Using the cooking zone
Please note the safety instructions!
Subsequent t initial c nnecti n and in the event f a p wer failure, the
c ntr ls will be tested aut matically. When the aut matic test is being
perf rmed, a Minus symb l lights up n the c ntr l. This symb l extinguishes
again nce the test has been c mpleted.
Important:
N bjects must be lying n t p f the sens rs when adjusting the sens r’s
sensitivity.
Using the Multi-C ker c king z ne
This c king z ne transmits heat directly t the f d. C king directly n the
glass ceramic surface enables a highly ec n mical use f c king fats. This
gentle and l w fat c king meth d preserves vital vitamins and minerals, n
matter whether f d is b iled, r asted, steamed, barbecued, braised r
p ached. Y u can, f c urse, als use c rresp nding p ts and pans n the
c king z ne.
F ds that c ntain large am unts f sugar sh uld n t be prepared directly n
the c king z ne. High temperatures cause the sugar t melt int the glass
ceramic surface and can damage it permanently.
Any sugar that has accidentally c me int c ntact with the c king z ne must
be immediately rem ved fr m the h t z ne with a scraper.

The c king levels
There exist 9 c king levels.
The c king setting required can be activated by means f the Plus r the
Minus sens r. It is sh wn in the display.
The “0” setting remains visible f r appr x. 10 sec nds after switch- ff.

The c king z ne has an aut matic initial c king functi n. The parb iling
b st is activated at full p wer. The parb iling b st time depends n the
subsequent c king level which has been selected after the activati n. The
c king z ne aut matically changes t the selected subsequent c king level
as s n as the set parb iling b st time has elapsed.
When the c king z ne is turned
n by using the Plus sens r, a
decimal p int is displayed behind
c king level 9.
The decimal p int indicates that
the aut matic parb il functi n is
active.

the required c king level must be
set by using the Minus sensr
befre the decimal pint

Activating the uter c king z ne circuit
As a standard rule, the small c king z ne circuit is heated.
The uter c king z ne circuit can be switched n when using larger r
several pans.
T uch the c king z ne symb l next t the
Plus/Minus sens rs.

symb l lights up t indicate that the uter
c king z ne circuit is active.
The uter c king z ne circuit can be
deactivated by t uching the c king z ne
symb l a sec nd time.
Which are the best p ts and pans?
Use pots and pans with flat, smooth bottoms.
The c king time with pans and p ts with curved b tt ms is l nger and
c nsumes m re energy. Pans with r ugh b tt ms scratch the glass ceramic
c king surface when they are m ved. When using c kware made fr m
firepr f glass r p rcelain please f ll w the instructi ns f the manufacturer.
Choose a pot or pan whose diameter fits the cooking zone.
By d ing this y u save energy and c king time and av id the verheating f
the h b.
If possible always place a lid on the pan.
Y u save a l t f energy by c king in a cl sed pan. F d nly b ils ver when
the temperature is t high. F r the c king z ne, y u can precisely set the
temperature required. With a little practice, y u will readily make the c rrect
ch ice f c king settings s that n thing b ils ver even when a lid is in
place.
The emergency switch
The c king z ne can be switched
ff quickly by means f the ON/
OFF sens r.
Time limit functi n (h liday functi n)
The appliance has an aut matic time limit functi n. It prevents the appliance
fr m being in perati n f r a l nger peri d f time.
The timer f the time limit functi n depends n the setting f the c king level:
The higher the setting f the c king level the faster it switches ff.
Other functi ns
■ If tw r m re sens rs are pressed at the same time – e.g. when a pan is
mistakenly put nt a sens r – n functi n is activated. After 10 sec nds
the appliance switches ff aut matically.
Exception
– Switching ff a c king z ne by means f simultane usly pressing the
Plus and Minus sens rs.
■ The appliance d es n t aut matically switch n again after a p wer failure.

What to do if trouble occurs
Unplug the appliance before repair!
First check whether there has been any perating err r. Y u can deal with
s me pr blems that ccur y urself.
Important note:
Repairs sh uld nly be carried ut by a qualified and auth rised trained
installer!
Even during the guarantee peri d repairs will n t be free f charge if due t
inc rrect perati n r t n n-adherence t ur instructi ns given under “What
t d if tr uble ccurs”.
Sh uld y u need t c ntact Cust mer service r rder spare parts, always
qu te the inf rmati n printed n the m del identificati n plate. The rating label
is l cated at the b tt m side f the h b. Y u will als find it stuck nt the
fr nt page f the perating instructi ns encl sed.
Cleaning and Care
[Never clean the glass ceramic h b with a steam cleaner r similar
appliance!
[Never use cleansers which c ntain silic n, since these leave behind a
pr tective film, i.e. residues, which c uld get int the f d that is c ked
next. Theref re, f ll w the instructi ns f the manufacturer in this regard.
■ Clean the h b every time after use.
■ Only use the supplied cleaning scraper t
rem ve f d residues.
■ Never use abrasive materials such as steel
w l r abrasive cleansers!
■ Be especially careful t keep the sens rs
clean since s iling c uld be mistaken f r
finger c ntact by the appliance.
Never put anything (pans, tea t wels etc.) nt the sens rs! If f d b ils
ver nt the sens rs, we advise y u t activate the emergency switch.
■ Make sure that n cleaning residuals remain n the c king z ne.
FResidues f cleaning agents can cause disc l uring the next time y u
switch it n. Cl ths and sp nges which are used f r the cleaning f ther
surfaces can cause disc l uring.
■ We rec mmend cleaning the h b with half a lem n r lem n juice. This
enables slight pr tein residues, e.g. fr m meat, t be rem ved easily and
makes the h b gleam again.
Using a cleaning scraper
[Cauti n! Risk f cutting! The blade f the
cleaning scraper is very sharp!
Always h ld the cleaning scraper flat t the surface
and push the grease away fr m y u.

Cleaning the c king z ne
[Make sure that n cleaning residuals remain n the c king z ne.
– First f all rem ve all f d residuals and fat splashes fr m the h t c king
z ne by means f the cleaning scraper.
– Clean the c king z ne with water and s me detergent.
– Rewipe it with clear water and finally dry it.
FIn case there are still s me s il particles left n the c king z ne after
cleaning, they can easily be rem ved by means f a special cleansing
agent, e.g. VSR O-FIX-C (available fr m the Küppersbusch Cust mer
service). Then wipe ff the entire c king z ne with a wet and afterwards
with a dry cl th.

Installation
Please n te
FThe m del EMG has an installati n depth f 55 mm, thus the h b cann t
be m unted ab ve an ven.
■ D n t use a screw driver t lever the appliance ut f the pening. This
will damage the frame f appliance. When rem ving the appliance press it
fr m the b tt m ut f the pening.
N tes f r fitting
■ The w rkt p must be installed abs lutely h riz ntally and the pening must
be cleanly cut.

■ The plastic finish r the veneer f built-in kitchen furniture must have been
pr duced using a heat-resistant adhesive (100 °C).

must be pr tected with a
c ver in such a way that it is
imp ssible t accidentally
c me int c ntact with the
b tt m side f the h b.

t be rem ved with the aid f
t ls and must be attached at
a minimum distance f 20 mm fr m the b tt m f the h b, s that the
p wer supply cable  d es n t t uch the b tt m f the h b.
■ Minimum distance between the edge f the h b and neighb uring walls:
40 mm.
We rec mmend t seal the cut secti ns f the w rkt p f r built-in sinks and
ven h bs with a water-repellent pr tecti n paint.
Each time the appliance is rem ved fr m the w rkt p, replace the seals.
[The hob must under no circumstances be sealed with silicone
sealant!
This w uld mean that it will be imp ssible t rem ve the h b at a later
date with ut damaging it.
Installing several h bs
■ When installing several h bs side by side please bserve the minimum
distances between the w rkt p penings as sh wn in the drawings:

Using clips makes it easier and quicker f r y u t install these units. Y u can
carry ut the c mplete installati n w rk fr m ab ve.
■ Be extremely careful when installing the glass ceramic c king surface!
D n t place r dr p any sharp r p inted t ls (screwdrivers, etc.) n the
glass surface!
■ The glass ceramic h b must have a level and flush bearing. Any dist rti n
may lead t fracture f the glass panel.
Making the worktop recess
– Make the w rkt p recess accurately with a g d, straight saw blade r
recessing machine in acc rdance with the dimensi ns in the illustrati ns.
– The cut edges sh uld then be sealed s that n m isture can penetrate.
Checking or replacing the sealing
– Check that the seal fits well and has n gaps.
When installing a h b int an uneven w rkt p, e.g. with a ceramic r similar
c vering (tiles etc.), the seal n the h b is t be rem ved and the seal between
the h b and w rkt p made with plastic sealing materials (n t included in sc pe
f delivery).
Such sealing c mp und can be purchased as KÜPPERSBUSCH spare part
N . 53 55 69.
– Clean the surfaces, apply the sealant in a c ntinu s strip and press the h b
int the pening.
– Rem ve excess sealant by cutting and clean the sealed surface immediately
with water.
Drive in the clips
FWhen installing the class ceramic h b int a st ne w rkt p, pr ceed as
described in the “Installing in a w rkt p made f st ne” secti n.
– Align the clips carefully and drive them in with a hammer.

[The h b must rest evenly in the pening. If the strain f the h b is t
great the appliance can crack when heating up.
FIf the h b is n t fixed tightly in the pening it
is slightly t big. In this case screw the clips
with tw screws d wn each (n t supplied) t
raise the spring tensi n.
Installing in a worktop made of stone
[Never use any electrically perated r air perated wrenches and av id
any vertightening!

Attention when using plastic worktops !
S me pr ducers f plastic w rkt ps refuse t flush-installed h bs int their
plastic w rkt ps. Please make enquiries at the pr ducer f y ur w rkt p
c ncerning usability in the case f flush-installed h bs. Sh uld a pr ducer n t
expressly agree t installati n, we must p int ut that we will n t be held liable
f r any c nsequential damage t the w rkt p (which may p ssibly tear due t
thermal expansi n).

Making the worktop recess
The cut- ut is pr duced in tw w rk steps.
1. Make the pening f r the base
tr ugh.
2. Making the recess f r the supp rt
f the glass ceramic h b.
(F r this recess at least ne
recessing machine with guide strip
is required.)
The utside dimensi n f the recess sh uld always be ab ut 6 mm l nger
than the utside dimensi n f the glass ceramic h b s that a seal can be
pr vided (see: “Gluing in the h b”).
FAlternatively, instead f carrying ut the sec nd stage, the supp rt f the
glass ceramic h b can be cut ut c mpletely and then glued in again
with the height adjusted.
It is als p ssible t install strips f w d r st ne as well as steel angles.

With a st ne w rkt p the glass ceramic h b can be inserted c mpletely flush.
The recess must theref re be ab ut 7 mm deep.
With w den w rkt ps the recess must be 6 mm deep. The resultant
pr trusi n f the glass ceramic h b c mpared with the w rkt p f min. 1mm
serves t pr tect the plastic surface f the w rkt p, preventing a h t saucepan
fr m being unintenti nally placed n it.
Note!
The glass-ceramic plate, with glued-in sheet metal angles, is 5.5 t 6.5 mm
thick. In rder t ensure that it is exactly flush with the st ne w rkt p, the
recess may have t be m dified acc rdingly.
Gluing in the hob
Notes
■ In rder t av id damage t the w rkt p and the h b, it is necessary t glue
the system w rkt p/h b with a permanent seal s that it is water-pr f.
■ The parts t be glued t gether must be dry and free fr m grease.
■ In rder t glue the h bs y u will need the resistive primer 101 and the
heat-resistant and m isture-resistant silicon adhesive Pactan 7056
pr duced by eidelberger Baustofftechnik, which is als available fr m
the Küppersbusch spare parts service.
It is absolutely necessary to observe the remarks concerning these
two products. You will find them enclosed processing indications!
There y u will als find a calculati n f rmula f r the hardening f the
silic ne adhesive. Do not operate the cooking zone before the
hardening process is over as otherwise the silicone adhesive can be
damaged.
■ Only glue the hob on its outer edges!
■ With st ne w rkt ps installati n is t be flush, with heat-sensitive w rkt ps
(e.g. w d) the h b must pr ject ab ut 1 mm.
■ Never place the h b with the glass ceramic surface unpr tected n the
w rkt p r the fl r. Dirt (metal chips, small pieces f st ne etc.) can cause
scratches in the surface f the glass ceramic h b. Please always place it
n cardb ard r a w l rug.

Procedure
1. Glue the sealing tape  nt the c rner f the supp rting edge f the
w rkt p s that n Pactan  can be pressed under the h b.
[Only use the sealing tape that is supplied with the h b!
Sh uld y u use any ther sealing there is n guarantee that the h b will
n t sink d wn after installati n.
2. Insert the h b with ut adhesive int the w rkt p pening and check the
height. If necessary, place the shims pr vided n the supp rt edge f r the
h b at equal distances t adjust the height.
3. Rem ve the h b again.
4. Use the water-pr f primer t pre-treat the uter edges f the h b and the
side cut surfaces f the w rkt p where they have been glued.
Apply a thick c at f the primer with a brush n highly abs rbent surfaces
(e.g. chipb ard).
With less abs rbent surfaces (e.g. marble r granite) it is sufficient t apply
the primer with a felt cl th.
Important! After applicati n, the primer must be left f r ab ut 30 minutes.
5. N w insert the h b and align.
6. Finally, fill the gap between the h b and the w rkt p with Pactan .
7. Sm th the j int with a spatula and water c ntaining a little washing-up
liquid.
[Attention! Use sealing tape! Pactan may n t be pressed anywhere under
the supp rting surface, therwise it will n l nger be p ssible t rem ve
the h b at a later stage. N liability will be assumed in the case f failure
t bserve these instructi ns.
Electrical c nnecti n
■ Statut ry regulati ns and the c nnecti n specificati ns issued by the l cal
p wer supply c mpany must be strictly bserved.
■ Ensure that all live c nnecti ns are safely insulated when installing the ven.
■ The appliance is supplied ready t plug in. It sh uld be c nnected nly t
a pr perly pr tected wall s cket. Installing and wiring a s cket r replacing
the c nnecti n cable sh uld nly be perf rmed by an electrician and in
bservance f the relevant regulati ns.
■ If the s cket is inaccessible after the installati n, safety regulati ns require
that an all-p le is lat r with a c ntact pening f at least 3 mm be used
n the installati n side.
■ The wall-s cket can be m unted under the w rking t p bel w the h b r
in a side cupb ard in the wall. D n t m unt it ab ve the grilling surface!
