Der Überspannungsadapter AirLancer Extender SA-5L ist die zentrale
Komponente für den inneren Blitzschutz von WLAN-Systemen mit
Antennen im Außenbereich. Der Einsatz des AirLancer Extender SA-5L
ist immer erforderlich – er schützt gegen Überspannungen, die trotz
äußerer Blitzschutzmaßnahmen z.B. auch bei Teilentladungen übertra-
gen werden und die empfindlichen WLAN-Module beschädigen kön-
nen. Der AirLancer Extender SA-5L wird dabei immer zwischen dem
Access Point und der Antenne montiert, dabei möglichst nah am Access
Point.
Zusätzlich kann ein Überspannungsadapter AirLancer Extender SA-LAN
eingesetzt werden, der mögliche Überspannungen im Ethernet- oder
PoE-Kabel reduziert.

Anschlüsse des AirLancer Extender SA-5L
Der AirLancer Extender SA-5L verfügt über zwei Anschlüsse zur Verbin-
dung mit dem Access Point und der Antenne:
쐃N-Stecker zum Anschluss an die Antenne (ungeschützter Bereich)
쐇N-Buchse zum Anschluss an den Access Point (geschützter Bereich
mit roter Markierung)
Anschluss an den Access Point
Zum Anschluss an einen Access Point verbinden Sie zunächst das eine
Ende des Adapterkabels (im Lieferumfang der Antenne) mit dem N-Ste-
cker des AirLancer Extender SA-5L. Verbinden Sie dann das andere Ende
des Adapterkabels mit dem Antennen-Ausgang des Access Points.
Je nach Modell kann der AirLancer Extender SA-5L auch direkt
an den Antennen-Ausgang des Access Points angeschlossen
werden, in diesem Fall ist kein Adapterkabel notwendig.
Achten Sie bei Montage der Access Points im Außenbereich auf
wasserdichte Schraubverbindungen. Verwenden Sie ggf. ein
Teflonband, ein selbstvulkanisierendes Band o. ä. zur sicheren
Abdichtung.
Anschluss an die Antenne
Zum Anschluss an die Antenne verbinden Sie zunächst das eine Ende
des ausreichend langen Antennenkabels mit der N-Buchse des
AirLancer Extender SA-5L. Verbinden Sie dann das andere Ende des
Antennenkabels mit dem Eingang der Antenne.
Je nach Art der Anschlüsse muss dabei ggf. ein Adapter oder
Adapterkabel verwendet werden.
Achten Sie beim Anschluss an die Antenne auf wasserdichte
Schraubverbindungen. Verwenden Sie ggf. ein Teflonband, ein
selbstvulkanisierendes Band o. ä. zur sicheren Abdichtung.
Erdung des AirLancer Extender SA- 5L
Der AirLancer Extender SA-5L muss bei der Montage ausreichend geer-
det werden, damit er die auftretenden Überspannungen über das
Erdungssystem des Gebäudes ableiten kann.
Klemmen Sie zur Erdung des AirLancer Extender SA-5L einen entspre-
chenden Kabelschuhring mithilfe der Mutter auf der geschützten Seite
des Überspannungsschutzadpaters fest. Die Erdung wird dann je nach
Anwendung wie folgt ausgeführt:
쮿Bei einer Indoor-Montage des Access Points erfolgt der Potenzial-
ausgleich über Gebäude-Erdung mithilfe einer PE-Leitung (Protec-
tive Earth, Schutzleiter – 1,5 mm² Cu).
쮿Bei der Outdoor-Montage des Access Points werden dessen Erdung
und die Erdung des AirLancer Extender SA-5L mit der Potenzial-
Ausgleichs-Leitung (PAL, 16 mm² Cu) des Mastes oder der Antenne
verbunden, z. B. über die Befestigungsschellen an der Antennen-
halterung.

The overvoltage adapter AirLancer Extender SA-5L is the central com-
ponent for protecting the interior electronics of WLAN systems with out-
door antennas. The employment of the AirLancer Extender SA-5L is
essential under all circumstances—despite outer lightning-protec-
tion measures, partial discharges can still give rise to overvoltage that
can damage sensitive WLAN modules. The AirLancer Extender SA-5L is
always mounted between the Access Point and the antenna, preferably
as near as possible to the Access Point.
Additionally, the AirLancer Extender SA-LAN overvoltage adapter can
be employed to counter potential overvoltage from the Ethernet or PoE
cable.

AirLancer Extender SA-5L connectors
The AirLancer Extender SA-5L has two connectors for connecting to the
Access Point and the antenna:
쐃N connector for connection to the antenna (unprotected area)
쐇N socket for connection to the Access Point (protected end marked
in red)
Connecting to the Access Point
For connection to an Access Point, you first connect the end of the
adapter cable (supplied with the antenna) to the N connector of the
AirLancer Extender SA-5L. Then connect the other end of the adapter
cable to the Access Point's antenna output.
Depending on the model, the AirLancer Extender SA-5L can
also be connected directly to the antenna output of the Access
Point, and in this case no adapter cable is necessary.
When mounting the Access Point outdoors, ensure that the
screw connections are waterproof. A secure seal will be provi-
ded by teflon tape or self-vulcanizing tape, for instance.
Connecting to the antenna
For connection to the antenna, first connect the end of the antenna
cable (making sure that this is long enough) to the N socket of the
AirLancer Extender SA-5L. Then connect the other end of the antenna
cable to the antenna's input.
You may require an adapter or adapter cable depending on the
type of connector.
When connecting the antenna, ensure that all connections to
the antenna are water-resistant screw connectors. A secure seal
will be provided by teflon tape or self-vulcanizing tape, for
instance.
Earthing the AirLancer Extender SA-5L
The mounting of the AirLancer Extender SA-5L must be sufficiently
earthed in order for any overvoltages can be conducted away to the
building's earthing system.
To earth the AirLancer Extender SA-5L, a cable lug should be fixed with
a nut to the protected side of the overvoltage adapter. Earthing can be
implemented as follows depending on the application:
쮿For an Access Point mounted indoors, potential equalization is con-
ducted via the building's earthing system with the aid of a PE lead
(Protected Earth, 1.5 mm² Cu).
쮿For an Access Point mounted outdoors, its earth and the earth of the
AirLancer Extender SA-5L are connected via the potential-equaliza-
tion lead (16 mm² Cu) of the mast or of the antenna, e.g. via the
antenna mounting clamps.
