Introduction: Start Here
and Read This First
Instant Access to 20,000 Plays
Landro play analyzer was created for
you, the head coach, to use to analyze
your plays without all the hassles of
rewinding and fast-forwarding
videotape. Using a simple 4-button
remote control,you can dynamically find
and present video teaching examples of
your own and your opponent’s plays to
your team.
As the Head Coach, you’ll want to skim
the rest of this introduction and then
read just the first two sectionsof the
manual. You’ll learn how to analyze and
present video to your team using the
simple 4-button remote control, how to
make a highlight tape in minutes, and
how to save your play information for
printing in a report.
Once you know how to find plays and
make highlights, have your Landro
Manager read Section 3 and Section 4
of the manual for more information on
how to set up your Landro, and record,
mark and catalog plays. It is also a
good idea for you to have everyone who
will be using Landro watch the training
videos located on your Landro.
Words You Need to Know
Because Landro is a new kind of
technology, we had to create a few
terms to describe what Landro does.
Here are the words you’ll need to be
familiar with:
Analysis Center:found beneath the
Preview Window in your Game List, lists
all of your favorite play searches and
summary themes. We’ve included our
own themes to get you started. When
you’re ready, you can create your own.
Breakdown: the screens you use to
catalog your plays. Information like unit,
play, etc. can be cataloged. You can do
as much or as little cataloging as you
choose. We recommend keeping it
simple until you are more familiar with
the process.
Cataloging: reviewing and coding your
plays with play information so you can
find them at a later time.
Game List:lists all of the games in
your Landro available for playback and
analysis. Your Landro holds up to 100
games in normal quality.
Highlight Tape:a recruiting/highlight
videotape with player-specific
information displayed right on the
screen. This feature is perfect for
making a college recruitment tape.

4
Landro Manager:the person
responsible for recording and marking
games in Landro. This can be aplayer
or other student, maybe one involved in
video or computer services. Make this
person a part of your team, giving them
a varsity letter.

situations that you search for when
studying a game. Your searches can be
saved in the My Searches screen, or in
the Analysis Center for quick access.

summaries can be saved in the My
Summaries screen, or in the Analysis
Center for quick access.
Navigate:to push up, down, left, or
right on the circle pad on your remote

another. When you “navigate” to
different items, that item will turn yellow.
Normal Tape:a training/educational
videotape with play-specific information
displayed right on the screen.
Play Book:a database of your play
analysis information.
Play List:a list of the plays in a game.
Play Search:a screen used to search
for plays with the specific information
that you cataloged. You can search for
plays in one game or across multiple
games. You can use the pre-loaded
Play Searches or create your own
“Themes”.
Play Summary:a screen that shows
you a spreadsheet of the play
information in your game(s). You can
use the pre-loaded Play Summaries or
create your own.You can summarize
plays in one game or across multiple
games. There are two kinds of play
summaries, play grids and tendency
spotter.

Viewing a Game
The Game List is the main screen for
using Landro. From the Game List, you
will select and view your Games and
have access to the Analysis Center,
Play Search, Play Summary, and Play
List.
Your Landro Manager will use the Game
List to set up and record new games
and breakdown those games by
marking and cataloging each play with
your play information.
There are a few options for using the
Game List. First, you can change which
games appear in the Game List by
pressing the #2 button on your remote.
For example, you might only want to see
all of this season’s games, or all games
that you’ve categorized as teaching
examples.
You can also change the order in which
the games appear in the list (for
example, newest to oldest), by pressing
the #4 button on your remote.

8
Using Your Remote Control for
Playback
Here’s how you control game playback.

Playback, and Right Arrow to
Play/Pause (same as Trigger on
underside of remote).

next play, Down to jump to previous
play, hold Left for reverse, hold Right
for forward.For slow-motion, pause
playback, then hold Left or Right.

9
Using the Analysis Center
The Analysis Center is the fastest and
easiest way to do play analysis on the
situations you want to analyze most
often.
Your Landro Manager can create
“Themes” from the Play Searches or
Summaries that you want to use to
analyze game video.A theme might
include all Offensive plays or
possessions, or it might include all Free
Throws, Corner Kicks, Power Plays, etc.
Themes were created so that you, the
Head Coach, could easily access the
plays that you want to analyze from any
game or games, all from one easy-to-
use screen.
It’s a good idea to have your Landro
Manager set up your themes right after
they set up your Playbook with your own
language (or you can learn to do it for
yourself in Section 3). Don’t worry, you
can always add or delete more searches
and summaries to or from the Analysis
Center.

10
Using the “My Searches”
You can create “Themes” from a Play
Search. A Play Search lets you search
for plays according to unit, play,
modifier, player, etc. Your Search
Themes can be as specific as you want,
including only unit, such as all Offensive
plays, or plays,such as Offensive
Inbounds, Offensive Throw-Ins, etc.
Your Landro Manager creates and
saves your Search Themes using the
Search Builder. These Themes can
then be saved here to the Play Search
“My Searches” screen, or be added to
the Analysis Center for easiest access.
To get to this screen, in the Game List,
Navigate to the game you want to
analyze and pull the Trigger. Then,
Navigate Down to “Play Search”and
pull the Trigger again (if your screen
reads “Search Builder”, press the #3
button on your remote).
When finished analyzing the plays from
the selected search, press the Left
Arrow button on the remote control to
return to this screen and select another
search theme.

11
Using “My Summaries”
In addition to Play Searches, you can
also create spreadsheet-style Themes
using Play Summary, such as Play vs.
Results.
Your Landro Manager will use the
Summary Builder to create and save
your Summary Themes. These Themes
can be saved to the Play Summary
screen or added to the Analysis Center
for easiest access.
To get to this screen, in the Game List,
Navigate to the game you want to
analyze and pull the Trigger. Then,
Navigate Down to “Play Summary” and
pull the Trigger again (if your screen
reads “Summary Builder”, press the #3
button on your remote).
In the Play Summary screen, press the
#4 button on your remote to sort the
columns by most frequently occurring.
With the desired Summary Theme
selected and the columns sorted,
Navigate to the cell containing the plays
you want to analyze and pull the
Trigger.

12
You will see the screen above, the Play
Summary Preview screen. Navigate to
the play in the list you want to analyze.
“Entire List”, the item at the top, shows
all of the plays from that summary cell.
To view the play(s), pull the Trigger for
a list of options, then pull the Trigger
again to “View Plays”.
When finished analyzing the plays,
press the Left Arrow button on the
remote control to return to this screen.

Section 2: Saving Plays
and Making Highlight Tapes
Coach, this section was written for you
and any assistants on your team who
might need to make a highlight tape or
print a breakdown spreadsheet. You
will be using the keyboard for all steps
outlined in this section.
Using the Keyboard as a Head
Coach
The keyboard is used by the Head
Coach to make highlight tapes and save
spreadsheets to print. It is organized
into 3 main sections: the blue keys are
for input by the Landro Manager
(recording, marking and cataloging
plays); the green keys are for output
(play analysis and playback control
through Play List, Play Search, and Play
Summary); and the yellow keys are for
administrative functions (accessing the
Main Menu, the Game List and the
Game Search screens).
Before you can make a highlight tape,
you must connect Landro to a VCR or
DVD Recorder using either S-Video or
the yellow, red and white RCA cables.

16
Connecting Landro to Make a
Highlight Tape
1) LANDRO to VCR:Connect Landro to
your VCR using an S-Video cable.
Connect one end to the output on
the rear of the Landro and the other
end to the input on the VCR. (If the
