The Battery
Your XL1000 rangefinder comes equipped
with a CR2 3-volt lithium battery. To install
the battery:
1. Remove the battery cap located below
the eyepiece.
2. Insert the CR2 battery negative end first.
The negative end is the flat end of the
battery. When the battery runs low on
power, a low battery indicator ( ) will
appear on the LCD screen. Once this indicator appears, the rangefinder will power off
after fifteen minutes, and you must insert a new battery to resume use.
Congratulations on your purchase of the XL1000 Laser Rangefinder by Laser Link Golf!
XL1000 is a precision measurement device designed specifically for those who love the
game of golf. Knowing the precise distance to your target is the first step in the quest
toward better swings, better shots, and better scores.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
The measurement range of XL1000 is 5-1000 yards (5-914 meters) to objects, and
5-300 yards (5-274 meters) to a golf flagstick.
NOTE: The maximum range of the XL1000 rangefinder can depend on several factors,
including target characteristics and environmental conditions. For instance, longer maximum
distances may be obtained to targets that are large in size, brightly colored, or have a shiny
finish. Ranging capability can also be affected by lighting conditions (low light/overcast days
will provide best performance) and the angle to the target (i.e. a target at a 90-degree
angle to the laser pulses will provide better measurement characteristics than a target at a
45-degree angle.)
To Use:
1. Hold the rangefinder with the eyepiece and battery door facing you.
2. Bring the rangefinder up to eye level and PRESS AND RELEASE
the Power button. The rangefinder is on.
3. Aim the Zero-In Aiming Circle at your intended target. Press and release the Power button
once to take a measurement. When the laser is firing a laser indicator box ( ) will
appear around the aiming circle. When this box disappears, your measurement has been
calculated. If you would like to scan the landscape, hold down the Power button and
move the rangefinder across the landscape. The box will flash to indicate that the laser
continues to fire.
Power Button

The rangefinder will continue to measure (and the box will continue to flash) for as long
as you hold down the Power button. You will see the yardage change as you change
targets. If you are in AccuFLAG Mode, your yardage will change only when a shorter
distance is measured. See MEASUREMENT MODES to learn more.
4. Your distance will appear at the top of the internal LCD.
MEASUREMENT MODES
Scan Mode – XL1000 is programmed to provide the user the ability to get multiple
measurements with one press of the Power button. To use Scan Mode:
1. Press and release the Power button to turn the rangefinder on. Then, simply PRESS
AND HOLD the Power button and slowly sweep the rangefinder across your intended
targets. You will see the laser indicator box ( ) continue to flash, and you will see
multiple readings appearing on the LCD as you move the rangefinder.
2. Release the Power button. The distance displayed will be the final measurement taken
by the rangefinder before you removed your finger from the Power button.
AccuFLAG Mode – AccuFLAG Mode is specially programmed to help determine the
distance to the flagstick. AccuFLAG gathers and analyzes measurement data to determine
the distance to the closest target, which is usually the flagstick. When AccuFLAG Mode is
activated, a golf flag graphic will appear on the left-hand side of the LCD.

To activate:
1. Press and release the Power button once to turn on the rangefinder.
Then, press and release the Mode button until you see the flagstick
graphic appear on the left-hand side of the LCD. When this flagstick
is present, AccuFLAG Mode is activated.
To use AccuFLAG Mode:
1. Press and hold the Power button to activate Scan Mode. With Scan Mode activated,
move the rangefinder slowly across the flagstick and surrounding background targets.
You will see various distance measurements appear on the LCD.
2. Release the Power button. The shortest distance measured will remain on the LCD.
Unit of Measurement – XL1000 measures in yards or meters. To change the unit of
measurement:
1. Press and release the Power button to turn the rangefinder on. The unit of measurement
indicator is located in the upper right-hand part of the LCD, directly next to the distance
readout. “Y” indicates yards, “M” indicates meters.
2. Press and hold the Mode button. The unit of measurement indicator will change.

OPERATION NOTES:
•Auto Shutoff – The XL1000 has an automatic shutoff function that will automatically turn
off the unit after approximately 5 seconds of non-use.
•Weather Conditions – Rain and fog can have an effect on performance of the rangefinder.
The thicker the fog or the stronger the rain, the higher the chance for limited ranging
capabilities.
•Temperature Extremes – Do not expose the rangefinder to extreme heat or extreme
cold for long periods of time. Everyday use and travel are acceptable, and will not affect
the rangefinder itself. However, long-term storage in extreme temperatures can have an
effect on the rangefinder, battery performance, and/or battery life.
•Waterproof – The XL1000 is waterproof to IPX4 classification. It is protected against
rain and splashing water. DO NOT submerge the rangefinder in any liquid.
MAINTENANCE
•To clean the lenses and the forward/rear faceplates, use a soft, clean cloth, such as you
would use on eyeglasses. Both the lenses and faceplates can be scratched, so DO NOT
use a hard-bristled brush. DO NOT use liquid of any kind to clean these areas. For your
convenience, a lens cleaning cloth has been included with this product.
•Use only a small amount of mild soap and water to clean the outer shell of the rangefinder.
DO NOT submerge in liquid or get the unit overly wet. DO NOT use abrasive cleaners.
When using a liquid for cleaning, always apply the liquid to the cleaning cloth, not directly
to the surface of the rangefinder.
•It is recommended that the rangefinder be stored in its carrying case when not in use.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Issues that you encounter with any of our Laser Link rangefinders are often easily solved
without returning the unit to Laser Link Golf. In many cases, the remedy can be as simple as
changing the battery, and we recommend that this be done prior to returning the product to
the company.
The rangefinder is reading an incorrect yardage.
•Check to see if the low battery indicator ( ) is present on the LCD screen. The lack of
adequate power can cause yardage measurements to be compromised. If the indicator is
present, change the battery.
•The rangefinder is capable of reading measurements in both yards and meters. Occasionally,
the user will accidentally change the measurement setting, causing him/her to believe the
product is measuring incorrect distance. You can determine if the product is measuring in
yards or meters by pressing that Power button and noticing if a Y or an M appears on the
screen. Instructions on how to change the setting are included in this manual.
The rangefinder gets a reading only some of the time.
•Make sure that nothing is blocking the sending or receiving lenses of the rangefinder,
such as your finger. Keep in mind – firing through the windshield of the cart may prevent
consistent and accurate readings.
•In many cases, a slight change in user behavior will make the unit perform perfectly, and
using the OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS procedure outlined earlier will often solve the problem.
If you continue to have difficulties getting readings, please contact Laser Link Golf for help.
