YourNatural Cascade^M Humidifierisan EVAPORATIVE
TYPE HUMIDIFIER. Thismeansthattheairbeingdrawn
throughthemoistenedfilternaturallyevaporatesthewater
anddisperses INVISIBLE MOISTURE intothe air. Thistype
ofhumidifier DOES NOT PRODUCE MIST, WATER
DROPLEtS, STEAM OR EXCESSIVE CONDENSATION
associatedwithothertypesofhumidifiers.
EXCESSIVE HUMIDITY CAN OFTEN LEAD TO
UNANTICIPATED PROBLEMS. Aircontainingwater
dropletsormistcancreatea good habitatforthegrowthof
moldandmildew.
Mistingunitsoftenoversaturatetheair,whiletheLasko
NaturalCascade''^'^Humidifierreachesa maximum
humidityoutputlevelwithoutoversaturating.Witha
properlyoperatingEvaporativeHumidifier, the evaporation rate
increasesnaturallywhentheairisdry.Whenthehumidity
inyourhomeishigh,moistureoutputautomatically
decreasestohelpprevent damaging condensation.
TheWatershowViewingWindowandWaterTankprovide
avisiblewayforyoutoknowthatyourNaturalCascade^'^
Humidifierisoperating.AsairpassesovertheFilters,the
humidityintheroomwillincrease,andthewaterlevelin
theUnitwill begin todecrease.
Unlikemistinghumidifiers, theEvaporativeFiltersinyour
NaturalCascadeHumidifier^*^alsotrapunwantedminerals
that resideinnormaltapwater.Thisfilteringalsoassures
there isNO WHITE DUST dispersedintotheair.
NOTE: Afew droplets ofwater maybe present
in your Humidifier asa result ofour quality
testing prior to packaging and shipment.

When using electrical appliances, especially where

Humidifieroffandunplugbeforefilling,servicingor
moving.
2.AlwaysplaceHumidifierona stable, flat, level
surface. LocatePower Cord sotheHumidifierorother
objectsarenotrestingonit.Keepthe Cord awayfrom
roomtraffic.
3. DonotplaceHumidifier neara heatsourcesuchas
stoves, radiatorsorheaters.
4.Thisapplianceisequippedwitha polarized plug (one
bladeiswiderthanthe other). Toreducetheriskof
electrical shock,this plug isdesignedtofitina
polarizedoutletonlyoneway.If plug doesnotfit,
contacta qualifiedelectrician.Donotattemptto
defeatthissafetyfeature.
5. NevertiltorattempttomovetheHumidifierwhileitis
operating.
6.Alwaysdirectairflowawayfromwallsorfurnitureas
excessivemoisturemaycausedamage.
7.Humidifiersrequireregularcleaning to maintainproper
operatingconditions.Refer to Cleaning instructions for
propercleaningprocedures.
8.DonotplaceHumidifier onanelectricalappliance.
FILLING and REFILLING
1. Itisrecommended that all Humidifiersbecleanedprior
touse.Pleaseread Cleaning Instructions forBase
and Water Tankcleaning.

2. UsetheconvenientCarryingHandlefoundonthe
bottomoftheWaterTanktobringittoa faucet.
Remove the TankCapbyturningitcounterclockwise.
Fill the Water Tankwithcooltap water. Neverusehot
water. ReplacetheTankCapbyturningclockwise,
untiltightened.Donotovertighten.(Figure 1)

NOTE: While carryingfilled Water Tank back to Humidifier,
hold Handle with one hand, while supporting bottom of
Water Tank with other hand,
3. Place the Water TanksecurelyontheBase.Ifpositioned
properly,waterwillslowlypourintoBaseand
automaticallystopwhenreachingdesiredamount.
4. Even thoughyourHumidifier will produceapproximately
4.0gallonsina 24hourperiod*,thewatercapacity
(amountof water the Humidifier will holdatonetime)
is2.0gallons.
NOTE: DonotmoveortilttheHumidifierwhilefilled
Water Tank is on Base. TomoveHumidifier,removeWater
TankandcarefullymovetherestofUnittodesired
location.ReplaceWaterTankandrestartHumidifier.
CAUTION: Donot pour water
through the Exhaust Grill onthe
Upper Housing. Doing somaycause
damage and personal injury.
OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
CAUTION: Always place Humidifier ona firm andlevel
surface. Locate thePower Cord sothe Humidifier isnot
resting onit,andisaway from room traffic.
Always carry filled Water Tank separate from restof Humidifier.
Never move water filled Humidifier while plugged in.
1. Takeextracaretopreventwaterspillagethatmay
damage furniture orflooring.The manufacturer willnot
accept responsibility for damage to property caused
bywater spillage.
2.AlwaysbesurethatthePowerControl Knobisinthe
OFFpositionwhen plugging Humidifierintoa
polarized120voltACwalloutlet.
CAUTION: Donot plug Humidifier into electrical outlet
withwethands,or electrical shock may occur.
3. SettheHumidistatControlKnobtoHIGH.
4. TurnthePowerControlKnobtotheHIGHposition.

CLEANING and FILTER CARE
1. Regularcleaningisnecessarytoensureproperand
efficient operation.Thefrequencyofcleaningdepends
ontheamountofimpuritieswhichmaybefoundinthe
water orhowoftentheHumidifier isinoperation.In
eitherinstance,itis recommended that the
Humidifier be cleaned atleast once a week.
CAUTION: To prevent electric shock, always turn Power
Control Knob toOFF position and unplug before cleaning.
2. ToreplacetheEvaporativeFilter Pad, removeRearGrill
fromtheBasebysqueezingtheUpperTabsinwardand
lift out.RemoveusedFiltersanddiscard.(Figure3)
3. Slide the Water DistributionTray out. Cleanthoroughly
andinspectWaterDripHolesforanyblockage.

4, Insert two newFilterRadsbypressing them onto the Filter
SupportPinsfound oninsideofRearCover.FilterRads
mustbeinsertedwithcoloredmarkontop. (Figure 5)
5. ReinstallRearGrillbyengagingthreeBottomTabson
the GrillintoinsideRearGrillCover Wall. Squeeze
TopFinger Tabs inwarduntiltheyslide intotheSlotsin
TopofRearGrillCover Wall. (Figure 6)
8.ToincreasethelifeofyourFilterRads,removeRear
Grill andturnFiltersaround(sooutsideofFilterisnow
facingtowardsinsideofHumidifier).
Filter lifemaybeextendedbycleaningtheFilterina
20% vinegarsolution.TocleanFilter,mixonepart
undilutedvinegar with fourparts warm tap water. Soak
the Filterinthissolutionfor20minutes,rinseFilter
thoroughlywithwarmwatertoremovevinegarodor.
9.DiscolorationoftheEvaporativeRadisnormalafter
extendeduse.Thediscolorationiscausedbymineral
depositsinthewater,andthedegreeofdiscoloration
will varydependingupontheamountofmineral
contentinthewater.WhentheFiltersurfaceareais
thoroughlydiscolored,oryounoticereducedwater
usage,itisa good indicatorthattheFilterRadsneed
tobereplaced.TheEvaporative Pads should be
replacedatleast once everyseason.

10.TOREMOVE SCALES from insideofBaseuseundiluted
white vinegar.LetvinegarstandinBasefor20minutes
then wipeawayanyscalebuildupusinga softbrushor
cloth. Donotuse soap or detergents andneverusean
abrasivecleaner.
11. TO DISINFECT TANK AND BASE: FillTankwith1
teaspoonof chlorine bleachand 1 gallonof water. Place
TankbackonBaseandletstandfor2Qminutes.
CarefullyemptyBaseandTankafter20minutesand
rinse well with water until bleach smellisgone.Donot
operateHumidifier whenthereisstillcleanerinthe
water.
12.Commercial"Descalers"and"Bacteriostats"are
availableatyourlocalhomeimprovementcenter.
13. DonotoperateHumidifierwhenthereisstillcleaner
inthewater.
6.ToreplacetheblueFoamWaterFilterDisk,remove
Water Tank,thenHumidifierBodyAssemblyfromthe
Base. RemovetheDiskanddiscard.(Figure7)

Evaporative RadintheHumidifier.
3.PlaceHumidifierbackinitscartonandstoreina cool
dryplace.
