About RDS
The Leadtek GPS receiver with RDS has, besides excellent GPS capabilities,
also an integrated FM receiver that is capable of receiving RDS and TMC data.
This data contains extra information, e.g. news, stocks, speed trap locations and
other real time traffic information. The content varies according to the region
where the receiver is used.
Navigation software that supports the Leadtek GPS Receiver with RDS has the
capability to show traffic information, including traffic jams, and guide/re-route
you around these traffic ingestions.
Because the RDS data is a part of 'normal' radio FM broadcast, the reception is
the same as a normal transistor radio. This means that reception cannot be
guaranteed all the time. The numerical algorithms inside the GPS receiver will
do their very best to tune the receiver automatically in such a way that the
strongest or most useful station is tuned as good as possible in the situation.
The FM antenna for the receiver is built into the cable. Please do not try to
replace this cable with another one.
