technician to inspect the unit and to replace any part of the control system and any gas control which has

THIS UNIT IS NOT FOR USE WITH SOLID FUEL.
Installation and repair should e PERFORMED y a authorised personnel . The appliance and venting
system should e INSPECTED efore initial use and at least annually y authorised person. More frequent
cleaning may e required due to excessive lint from carpeting, edding material, etc. It is IMPERATIVE that the
unit’s control compartment, urners, and circulating air passageways BE KEPT CLEAN to provide for adequate
com ustion and ventilation air. Always KEEP the appliance clear and free from com usti le materials, gasoline,
and other flamma le vapors and liquids. NEVER OBSTRUCT the flow of com ustion and ventilation air. Keep
the front of the appliance CLEAR of all o stacles and materials for servicing and proper operations. Due to the
high temperature, the appliance should e LOCATED out of traffic areas and away from furniture and draperies.
Clothing or flamma le material SHOULD NOT BE PLACED on or near the appliance. Children and adults
should e ALERTED to the
hazards of high surface temperature and should STAY AWAY to avoid urns or clothing ignition.
Young children should e CAREFULLY SUPERVISED when they are in the same room as the appliance.
These units MUST use one of the vent systems descri ed in the Installing the Fireplace section of
the Installers Guide. NO OTHER vent systems or components MAY BE USED.
This gas fireplace and vent assem ly MUST e vented directly to the outside and MUST NEVER e
attached to a chimney serving a separate solid fuel urning appliance. Each gas appliance MUST USE
a separate vent system. Common vent systems are PROHIBITED. INSPECT the external vent cap on a regular
asis to make sure that no de ris is interfering with the air flow. The glass door assem ly MUST e in place and
sealed, and the trim door assem ly MUST e in place on the fireplace efore the unit can e placed into safe
operation.
DO NOT OPERATE this appliance with the glass door removed, cracked, or roken. Replacement of the glass
door should e performed y authorised personnel.
DO NOT strike or slam the glass door. The glass door assem ly SHALL ONLY e replaced as a complete unit,
as supplied y the gas fireplace manufacturer. NO SUBSTITUTE material may e used.
DO NOT USE a rasive cleaners on the glass door assem ly.
DO NOT ATTEMPT to clean the glass door when it is hot. Turn off the gas efore servicing this appliance. It is
recommended that a qualified service technician perform an appliance check-up at the eginning of each
heating season. Any safety screen or guard removed for servicing must e replaced efore operating this
appliance.

Before in talling the fireplace, con ult the local building code agency to en ure that you are in
compliance with all applicable code , including permit and in pection . The appliance mu t be
electrically grounded in accordance with the electrical wiring regulation .
2 Getting Started
Taking fireplace out of carton remove all the packing material such as corner
protector plastic material. Check to see if anywhere on surface is damaged
by transport.
The long distance transport may damage the paint on surface or main part of
fireplace the installer is supposed to be responsible to the quick check of the
fireplace once the above damage found call the supplier to replace or repair.
Introducing the legend Gas Fireplaces
Legend direct vent gas fireplaces are designed to operate with all com ustion air siphoned from
outside of the uilding and all exhaust gases expelled to the outside. The information contained in
this Installers Guide, unless noted otherwise, applies to all models and gas control systems. Gas
fireplace diagrams, including the dimensions, are shown in this section.
Pre-install Preparation
In carton of gas fireplace, there should e some part packed separately, check the part list on
this manual to find those parts.
This gas fireplace and its components are tested and safe when installed in accordance with this
Installers Guide.

Report to your dealer any parts damaged in shipment particularly the condition of the glass.
Do not install any unit with damaged incomplete or substitute parts.
The vent system components and trim doors are shipped in separate packages. The gas logs are
packaged separately and must e field installed.
Read all of the instructions before starting the installation. Follow these instructions
carefully during the installation to ensure maximum safety and benefit. Failure to follow
these instructions will void the owner’s warranty and may present a fire hazard.
This model MUST use Australian approved Direct Vent Components and Termination Kits (as
indicated in this guide) for exhausting flue gases AND Air Kit for com ustion air. Note: Insulated
intake ducting is required in cold climates.
The legend Warranty will e voided y, and legend disclaims any responsi ility for, the following
actions:
• Installation of any damaged fireplace or vent system
component.
• Modification of the fireplace or direct vent system.
• Installation other than as instructed y Legend.
• Improper positioning of the gas logs or the glass door.
• Installation and/or use of any component part not manufactured
and approved y Legend, not withstanding any independent testing la oratory or other party
approval of such component part or accessory.
ANY SUCH ACTION MAY POSSIBLY CAUSE A FIRE HAZARD.
This unit is designed to operate from a on/off switch or a remote control. When planning a fireplace
installation, it’s necessary to determine:
• Where the unit is to e installed.
• The vent system configuration to e used.
• Gas supply piping.
• Electrical wiring.
• Framing and finishing details.
• Whether optional accessories—devices such as a remote control, are desired. If the fireplace is to
e installed on carpeting or tile, or on any com usti le material other than wood flooring, the
fireplace should e installed on a metal or wood panel that extends the full width and depth of the
fireplace.
3 Installing the Fireplace
Constructing the chase
A chase is a vertical ox-like structure uilt to enclose the gas fireplace and/or its vent system.
Vertical vents that run on the outside of a uilding may e, ut are not required to
e, installed inside a chase.
CAUTION: TREATMENT OF FIRESTOP SPACERS AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE CHASE MAY
VARY ITH THE TYPE OF BUILDING. THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE NOT SUBSTITUTES FOR
THE REQUIREMENTS OF LOCAL BUILDING CODES. THEREFORE, YOUR LOCAL
BUILDING CODES MUST BE CHECKED TO DETERMINE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THESE
STEPS.

Factory- uilt fireplace chases should e constructed in the manner of all outside walls of the home to
prevent cold air drafting pro lems. The chase should not reak the outside uilding envelope in any
manner. This means that the walls, ceiling, ase plate and cantilever floor of the chase should e
insulated. Vapor and air infiltration arriers should e installed in the chase as per regional
codes for the rest of the home. Additionally, in regions where cold air infiltration may e an issue, the
inside surfaces may e sheetrocked and taped for maximum air tightness.
To further prevent drafts, the firestops should e caulked with high temperature caulk to seal gaps.
Gas line holes and other openings should e caulked with high temp caulk or stuffed with unfaced
insulation. If the appliance is eing installed on a cement sla , a layer of plywood may e placed
underneath to prevent conducting cold up into the room.
Step 1. Locating the Fireplace
The following diagram shows space and clearance requirements for locating a fireplace within a
room.
Clearance Requirements
The clearances listed elow are minimum distances unless otherwise stated.
Clearance to combu tible :
Back, Side and Top Stand Off - Zero.
Side Wall (in front of appliance) - Zero
Side of Fa cia - Zero

Horizontal flue clearance: Top: 50mm, ide and bottom: 38mm
Vertical flue clearance: 32mm
The mantle should e no less than 350mm a ove the upper louvers on the top grill.
Because of extreme heat, the mantle clearances are critical.
A non-com usti le mantle may e installed lower.

Step 2. Framing the Fireplace
Fireplace framing can e uilt efore or after the fireplace is set in place. Framing should e
positioned to accommodate wall coverings and fireplace facing material.
UNIT ASSEMBLY PRIOR TO INSTALLATION
The Top Facing Support, the Side Nailing Strips and the 2 Top Standoffs must e correctly
positioned and attached to the top efore unit is slipped into position.
TOP STANDOFF ASSEMBLY (Field finished)
The top standoffs packed separately from the fireplace., you need to fold it to the right angle and
mount in right position.
1) Remove the standoffs from packing.
2) Take each standoff and end into the correct shape. Bend it until the screw holes in the standoff
and the pre-punched screw holes on the fireplace top line up.
3) Attach the standoff securely to the top with 4 screws per standoff.
The side and ack standoff is also packed separately in carton, you should find it and attach the
standoff securely to the side and ack of fireplace with 4 screws per standoff.

Step 3. Installing the Vent System
A. Vent System Approvals
This model is approved to use Flo-Met direct vent components and terminations .Approved vent
system components are la eled for identification. The pipe is tested to e run inside an enclosed
wall.
There is no requirement for inspection openings at each joint within the wall. There is no required
pitch for horizontal vent runs. NO OTHER VENTING SYSTEMS OR COMPONENTS MAY BE
USED.
Detailed installation instructions are included with each vent termination kit and should e used in
conjunction with this Installers Guide.
The flame and em er appearance may vary ased on the type of fuel urned and the venting
configuration used.
Identifying Vent Components
The vent systems installed on this gas fireplace may include up to three 90° el ows.The
relationships of vertical rise to horizontal run in vent configurations using 90° el ows MUST BE
strictly adhered to. The rise to run relationships are shown in the venting drawings and ta les.
Refer to the diagrams on the next several pages.
NOTE: Two 45° elbows may be used in place of one 90° elbow. Rise to run ratios in the vent
system must be followed if 45° elbows are used.

Note: for longer pipe runs, the total minimum vertical length is 3962.4mm and the total
maximum horizontal length is 3048mm.
General information:
1) Set the unit in its desired location. Check to determine if wall studs or roof rafters
are in the way when the venting system is attached. If this is the case, you may want
to adjust the location of the unit.
2) Direct Vent pipe and fittings are designed with crimped connections to connect
the venting system to the appliance flue outlet.
3) Put a ead of silicone inside the outer section of the adapter and a ead of Mill
Pac on the inner collar. Slip the adapter over the existing inner and outer flue collar
and fasten to the outer collar only with the 3 self tapping screws (drilling pilot holes
will make this easier). Level the fireplace and fasten it to the framing using nails or
screws through the nailing strips.
4) Assem le the desired com ination of pipe and el ows to the appliance adaptor.
Note: Apply sealant "Mill-Pac" to inner pipe and high temperature silicone
sealant to outer pipe on every crimped joint.

Direct Vent Zero Clearance Top Exit Vertical Flue Kit
Installation instructions
This flue kit has een manufactured in accordance with
AS5601 2002.To ensure safety this flue kit must e
installed as outlined in these instructions.
Heater and flue clearancs from com usti le walls and
framing must e in accordance with these instructions and
AG501.
1 Located the heater in its proposed position and mark
the point for penetration directly a ove the center of the
heaters flue oulet.Check that the heater location allows the
Outer Heat Shield to clear all stuctural tim ers com usti le
surfaces y 40mm minimum.
2 Cut a 250mm Square hole where penetration is required
using mark as guide.Fit non-com usti le nogs in the ceiling
space if required.
3 Measure overall length of Outer Heat Shield and inner flue
required.Fix Outer Heat Shield lengths together using pop
rivets or self-taping screws.Insert assem led lengths up
through penetration hole;continue to add Outer Heat Shield
lengths.
The flue is required to e at least 500mm a ove the nearest
point of the roof.It is recommended that in some cases
instances extending the flue a ove the ridgeline will e
necessary.Refer to AS5601 2002 for more information.
4 Assem le the 100mm galvanized flue lengths together
using pop rivets or self taping screws ensuring all joints are
sealed with Milpac seaier supplied.Lower the 100mm
galvanized flue from the roof into the Outer Heat Shield and
onto the inner heater stu .Lift Outer Heat Shield to seal the
inner heater flue stu with Milpac seaier supplied.Fix Outer
Heat Shield over heater stu and push fully down.
5 Fit an appropriate weather seal around the flue Outer Heat
Shield and seal to roofing material with appropriate sealer.
6 Check inner flue is 20mm higher that Outer Heat Shield and
fit gas cowl.
7 Start heater and run for at least 15 minutes to check inner
flue seal(should heater drop out completely inner flue is
leaking)
Milpac sealant supplied must e used or warranty will e void.
Flue Kit Part Number :DVZCGFK
Note:It is the installer’s responsibility to ensure that the installation complies
with AS5601 2002 and all local body requirements.

5) Mark the wall for a 254x254mm square hole. The center of the square hole should
line up with the centerline of the horizontal pipe. Cut and frame the square hole in the
exterior wall where the vent will e terminated.
Note:
a) The horizontal run of vent must e level, or have a 6.35mm rise for every 305mm
of run towards the termination. Never allow the vent to run downward. This
could cause high temperatures and may present the possi ility of a fire.
b) The location of the horizontal vent termination on an exterior wall must
meet all local and national uilding codes, and must not e locked or o structed.
For External Vent Terminal Locations, see diagram in the "Exterior Vent Termination
Locations" section.
6) Insure that the 38mm
clearances to com usti le materials are maintained Install the termination cap.
Note: If installing termination on a siding covered wall a vinyl siding standoff
or furring strips must be used to ensure that the termination is not recessed
into the siding.
7) Before connecting the horizontal run of vent pipe to the vent termination, slide the
Wall Thim le over the vent pipe.
8) Slide the appliance and vent assem ly towards the wall carefully inserting the
vent pipe into the vent cap assem ly. It is important that the vent pipe extends into
the vent cap sufficient distance so as to result in a minimum pipe overlap of 32mm
inches. Secure the connection etween the vent pipe and the vent cap y attaching
the two sheet metal strips extending from the vent cap assem ly into the outer wall
of the vent pipe.
9) Install wall thim le in the center of the square and attach with wood screws (see
diagram elow)

1) Maintain the 32mm clearances (air spaces) to com usti les when passing
through ceilings, walls, roofs, enclosures, attic rafter, or other near y com usti le
surfaces. Do not pack air spaces with insulation. Check the "Venting Arrangement"
section for the maximum vertical rise of the venting system and the maximum
horizontal offset limitations.
2) Set the gas appliance in its desired location. Drop a plum o down from the
ceiling to the position of the appliance flue exit, and mark the location where the vent
will penetrate the ceiling. Drill a small hole at his point. Next, drop a plum o from
the roof to the hole previously drilled in the ceiling, and mark the spot where the vent
will penetrate the roof. Determine if ceiling joists, roof rafters or other framing will
o struct the venting system. You may wish to relocate the appliance or to offset, as
shown in the following diagram to avoid cutting load earing mem ers.
3) A Firestop spacer must e installed in the floor or ceiling of every level. To install
the Firestop spacer in a flat ceiling or wall, cut a 10”(254mm) square hole. Frame the
hole as shown in the following diagram and install the firestop.
4) Assem le the desired lengths of pipe and el ows. Ensure that all pipes and el ow
connections aresealed as per manufacturer's specifications.
5) Cut a hole in the roof centered on the small drilled hole placed in the roof in Step 2.
The hole should e of sufficient size to meet the minimum requirements for
clearance to com usti les of 32mm. Slip the flashing under the shingles.

The upper half of the flashing is installed under the roofing material and not nailed
down until the chimney is installed. This allows for small adjustments.
6) Continue to assem le pipe lengths.
Note: If an offset is necessary in the attic to avoid obstructions it is important
to support the vent pipe every 3 feet to avoid excessive stress on the elbows
and possible separation. Wall straps are available for this
Purpose.
Galvanized pipe is desira le a ove the roofline due to its higher corrosion resistance.
Continue to add pipe sections through the flashing until the height of the vent cap
meets the minimum height requirements specified in above diagram or local codes.
Note that for steep roof pitches, the vertical height must e increased. A poor draft,
or down drafting can result from high wind conditions near ig trees or adjoining roof
lines, in these cases, increasing the vent height may solve the pro lem.
7) Ensure vent is vertical and secure the ase of the flashing to the roof with
roofing rails, slide storm collar over the pipe section and seal with a mastic.
8) Install the vertical termination cap y twist-locking it.
Note: Any closets or storage spaces which the vent passes through must be
enclosed.

Step 4. Positioning Leveling and
Securing the Fireplace
The diagram elow shows how to properly position, level,
and secure the fireplace.
• Place the fireplace into position.
• Level the fireplace from side to side and from front to ack.
• Secure the fireplace to the framing y nailing or screwing.
Step 5. The Gas Control System WARNING: THIS UNIT IS NOT FOR USE WITH
SOLID FUEL.

Step 6. The Gas Supply Line
GAS LINE INSTALLATION
The gas line is rought through the right of the appliance. The gas valve is situated on the right hand
side of the unit and the gas inlet is on the right hand side of the valve. The gas line connection may
e made of rigid pipe, copper pipe (If you are using rigid pipe, ensure that the valve can e removed
for servicing.)
Ensure the appliance shall e installed only y authorised persons and in accordance with the
manufacturer's installation instructions, local gas fitting regulations, municipal uilding codes,

When using copper or fl ex connectors use only approved fittings. Always provide a union so that
gas lines can e easily disconnected for servicing. Flare nuts for copper lines are usually considered
to meet this requirement.
Important: Always check for gas leaks with a soap and water solution or gas leak detector.
Do not use open flame for leak testing.
