Charge your Chrome ook

Lock your Chrome ook
Lock your Chromebook o a desk, able, or o her fix ures hrough a compa ible securi y cable lock.

Navigate your user interface
1. Search ox and the app
Launcher
• Type he name of your device, app, or Web page in he search box.
• Click any app shown in he app Launcher o open he app quickly.
2. Launcher utton Open he search box and he app Launcher.

3. Shelf Pin your frequen ly used apps or Web pages o he shelf for easy access.

Connect to Wi-Fi networks
1. Click he ne work icon in he sys em ray. A lis of available wireless ne works is displayed.
2. Selec a ne work available for connec ion. Provide required informa ion, if needed.
Set up a Bluetooth connection
You can connec all ypes of Blue oo h-enabled devices o your Chromebook, such as a keyboard, a mouse,
a smar phone, or speakers. To ensure successful connec ion, place he devices a mos 10 me ers (33 fee )
from your Chromebook.
1. Click he Blue oo h icon in he sys em ray. A lis of available Blue oo h devices is displayed.
2. Selec a Blue oo h device, and hen follow he on-screen ins ruc ions.
Change the display language
When s ar ing your Chromebook for he firs ime, you are promp ed o selec he display language. This
se ing can be changed if you need o use a differen language.
1. Click he se ing icon in he sys em ray, and hen click Advanced ➙ Languages and inputs.
2. In he Languages sec ion, click nex o he language ha you wan o use, and hen click Move to the
top.
Notes:
• If he language you wan o use is no shown in he lis , click Add languages.
• You need o sign ou and hen sign in for he changes o ake effec .
• Each signed-in user can se heir own display language.
Change input methods
You migh need o add an inpu me hod o ype ex in a par icular language and swi ch be ween inpu
me hods.
Add an input method
1. Click he se ing icon in he sys em ray, and hen click Advanced ➙ Languages and inputs.
2. In he Inpu s sec ion, click Add input methods, and hen selec inpu me hods as you prefer.
Switch etween input methods
You can press C rl + Space o swi ch o your previous inpu me hod, and press C rl + Shif + Space o swi ch
be ween available inpu me hods, or you can swi ch be ween inpu me hods by doing he following:
1. Click he se ing icon in he sys em ray, and hen click Advanced ➙ Languages and inputs.
2. In he Inpu s sec ion, click he name of he inpu me hod o enable i .

Use multimedia
Use your Chromebook wi h he buil -in componen s (camera, speakers, and audio fea ures) or connec ed
ex ernal devices (an ex ernal projec or, moni or, and HDTV).
Use audio
To enhance your audio experience, connec speakers, headphones, or a headse wi h a 3.5-mm (0.14-inch),
4-pole plug o he audio connec or.
To play a local audio or video file:
1. Click he Launcher bu on, and hen click o display he full app Launcher.
2. Click Files.
3. Choose a local audio or video file, and hen open i in he media player.
To adjus he speaker volume, click he sys em ray, and hen adjus he volume bar.
Use the camera
You can use he buil -in camera o ake pho os or record videos. The indica or nex o he camera urns on
when he camera is in use.
To ake pho os or record videos:
1. Click he Launcher bu on, and hen click o display he full app Launcher.
2. Click Camera.
3. To ake pho os, click he camera icon. If you wan o record videos, click Video o swi ch o he video
mode.
If you use o her programs ha provide fea ures such as pho ographing, video cap uring, and video
conference, he camera s ar s au oma ically when you enable he camera-required fea ure.
Connect to an external display
Connec your Chromebook o a projec or or a moni or o give presen a ions or expand your workspace.

To change display se ings:
1. Click he se ing icon in he sys em ray, and hen click Device ➙ Displays.
2. Follow he on-screen ins ruc ions o change he display se ings as you prefer.
Set the power plan
For a ENERGY STAR® complian Chromebook, he following power plan akes effec when your
Chromebook has been idle for a specified dura ion:

To rese he power plan o achieve he bes balance be ween performance and power saving:
1. Click he se ing icon in he sys em ray, and hen click Device ➙ Power.
2. Follow he on-screen ins ruc ions o change he se ings as you prefer.
Shut down your Chrome ook
When you finish working wi h your Chromebook, shu i down o save power.
• Click in he sys em ray.
• Press he power bu on.
Interact with your Chrome ook

Use the key oard shortcuts
The func ion keys or key combina ions on he keyboard help you work more easily and effec ively.
Refresh your curren page.

Tap once o selec or open an i em. Tap wice quickly o display a shor cu menu.

1. Click he se ing icon in he sys em ray, and hen click Device ➙ Touchpad.

If Ena le tap-to-click is urned on, you can ap or press he ouchpad. O herwise, you can only press he
ouchpad o achieve he clicking func ion of a radi ional mouse.
Use the touch screen (for selected models)
If your Chromebook display suppor s he mul i- ouch func ion, you can naviga e he screen wi h simple
ouch ges ures.

Maintenance tips:
• Turn off he Chromebook before cleaning he mul i- ouch screen.
• Use a dry, sof , and lin -free clo h or a piece of absorben co on o remove fingerprin s or dus from he
mul i- ouch screen. Do no apply solven s o he clo h.
• The mul i- ouch screen is a glass panel covered wi h a plas ic film. Do no apply pressure or place any
me allic objec on he screen, which migh damage he ouch panel or cause i o malfunc ion.
• Do no use fingernails, gloved fingers, or inanima e objec s for inpu on he screen.
• Regularly calibra e he accuracy of he finger inpu o avoid a discrepancy.
