SECTION 7: INSTALLATION
1. Head Unit Installation:
a. The head Unit can be mounted in one of three ways.
i. Magnetically: Magnets are mounted inside of the Level Sense Sentry enclosure. To mount the
unit magnetically, simply place the back of the enclosure onto a magnetic surface.
ii. Wall Mount: The template shown below can be used to mount the device
directly to a wall via the mounting screws.

iii. Cable Tie Mount: The two sticky pad anchors and zip ties can be used to mount the head unit.
2. Installing Float Sensor:
The float sensor mounts above the normal pump water line and detects when the water level has
reached a point above normal operating range.
The float sensor installs on the sump pump discharge pipe. Using the provided plastic float bracket
and two zip ties, securely mount the float to the discharge pipe. The sliding float portion of the
sensor should face down. Mount the float approximately six (6) inches above the sump pump
normal water line. This level can usually be found by looking at the side walls of the pit to visually
see the high-water mark roughly level with the top of the pump. The wires from the float sensor
connect to the far right two terminals on the Level Sense Sentry.

3. Installing Leak Sensor
The leak sensor monitors for pooling water on a flat surface. The leak sensor can be mounted near
the sump pit or other areas where water will pool in the event of a leak. Typical locations are near a
water heater or HVAC system which can leak during a malfunction. The sensor needs to be placed
flat on the floor with the metal sensing elements down. The sensor must be submerged in a
minimum pool of water of 1/8” in depth before activating. The wires do not have polarity and cannot
be wired backwards. Do not increase the length of this sensor beyond the length provided. The leak
sensor can be wired into the middle and far left terminal.
4. Completed Installation with Float Switch and or Leak Sensor
Reference the image below for a rendering of an installation utilizing both a float switch and leak
sensor. Note that the middle terminal is common.

SECTION 8: CONNECT TO WI-FI
The Level Sense Sentry device is immediately ready to join your 2.4 Ghz Wi-Fi network after power
up. When the Level Sense Sentry has not been configured to a Wi-Fi network the Cloud LED will
display as WHITE, and the access point is active (the unit will broadcast its Level Sense Wireless
Network. Refer to section 6). There are two methods of connecting to a wireless network. The first
method turns the Level Sense Sentry into a hotspot, and the second method is called WPS.
There are a series of articles on more advanced troubleshooting for WI-FI connections under the
Troubleshoot section which is found on the upper banner of the website.
Password requirements for your local 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network:
SSID (local network name) and password are case sensitive
The Wi-Fi password may be no more than 48 characters in length
The following characters are supported in the Wi-Fi password:
! " # $ % & ' ( ) * + , - . / : ; < = > ? @ [ \ ] ^ _ ` { | } ~
1. Hotspot Method:
a. To connect your Level Sense Sentry to your Wi-Fi network via the hotspot mode, you will need a
Wi-Fi enabled device like a smartphone or laptop. The Cloud LED of the Level Sense Sentry should
be white which indicates the device is broadcasting a Wi-Fi hotspot. Use your Wi-Fi device (phone,
tablet, or computer) to connect to the Level Sense network (the last four digits of the Level Sense
network is the last 4 digits of the device’s MAC address). Your phone may indicate that this
network has no internet connection. This is normal.
b. Once connected to the Level Sense network, a Wi-Fi configuration page will automatically appear.
If this page does not appear automatically, then open a web browser and enter the device’s IP
address into the address bar: 192.168.4.1

11
c. On the webpage, you will select the bubble of YOUR HOME 2.4 Ghz Wi-Fi network.
Enter the PASSWORD of YOUR HOME network. Note that this field is case sensitive.
d. Once complete, you can enter your Level Sense account email address into the email address field
(If you do this, the device will automatically link to your account, and you will NOT be presented
with a claim code). Lastly, press the submit button.
e. The webpage then instructs you to click the RESET button on the Level Sense Sentry. After
restarting, the Cloud LED will pulse yellow until it connects to your Wi-Fi. Upon successful
connection the device will either…
i. Present a claim code (all four LEDS on the device will blink in unison (Proceed to Section 9)
ii. The Cloud LED will change to pulsing blue, followed by blue on the other 3 LEDs (Proceed to
Section 10). This indicates that the device has been successfully linked to your account, and
no claim code is needed.
iii. The Cloud LED changes to red (No local internet connection). This can be caused by an
incorrect password for the Wi-Fi network, or the network is out of range. If this happens, press
the RESET button to try again. If it does not connect on subsequent attempts, please reference
Section 13 for instructions on how to perform a password reset.

12
2. WPS Method:
a. To connect to Wi-Fi with WPS, first check to see if your Wi-Fi router has a button labeled “WPS.”
Some routers require WPS to be enabled or direct it to a channel (i.e., 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz). We
recommend using a dedicated 2.4Ghz network, and WPS must be enabled.
b. Temporarily move the Level Sense Sentry unit into proximity of the Wi-Fi router. Pres the WPS
button on your router, wait 15 seconds then double click the silence button on the Level Sense
Sentry. The Cloud LED will turn from white to solid yellow. This indicates that the Level Sense
Sentry is attempting to connect to your network. This process can take up to 5 minutes. Upon
successful completion, all four LEDs on the Level Sense Sentry will illuminate and pulse in
unison. This is a claim code. Please proceed to Section 9.
c. If the Cloud LED turns red following a WPS attempt, press the Reset button on the Level Sense
Sentry. If the cloud LED returns to red after restarting, please proceed to Section 13 for
instructions on how to perform a password reset.

SECTION 9: CLAIM DEVICE
If you typed in your E-Mail address on the Wi-Fi configuration page (as seen in the previous Section),
then your device will be claimed automatically, and it will be in your account upon login in the portal
(if you do not see the device, refresh your screen). If you did not enter your E-Mail address on the
Wi-Fi configuration page, or if the WPS method was used, it will be necessary to claim the device.
Once the Level Sense Sentry is connected to your wireless network, the Level Sense Sentry will flash
all four LEDs in unison. This is a claim code. After logging into the portal via the website or the
mobile application click on the “Claim” button. Follow the directions on screen and enter the unique
claim code.

SECTION 10: CONTACT INFORMATION
Once you are logged into your account on the Level Sense website, or in the mobile application, click
on the “Contacts” tab or if you are using the mobile application click the “Notification” tab. Click on
the plus button next to the default contact and enter your phone number, cell phone service provider,
etc. Do not forget to enable both email and text options. It is a good idea to test both the email and
text feature currently as well. Lastly, save and submit the contact.
SECTION 11: NOTIFICATION SETTINGS
This section will guide you on how to enable and disable sensor inputs to suit your application. On
the website, you can edit the notification settings by clicking on the bell icon, which is underneath
the “Alarm Settings” column. If you are on the mobile application, you will need to click on the device
name, and then an action bar will show up at the bottom of the screen, click on the bell icon.
1. The first and second inputs on the screen are for a float and leak sensor. The Level Sense
Sentry device can utilize multiple sensors. It is important to note that with the two inputs, you
can monitor two areas and distinguish between the two inputs. If you wire two float switches
into the float switch input, you will be notified if either of the floats go into alarm state, but you
would not be able to determine which float is causing the alarm. Wiring multiple sensors into
one input, it will however, prevent you from knowing which specific sensor is causing the alarm
for this input.
Lastly, you can enable and disable email, text, and the siren feature for any of the inputs by clicking
on the text bubble. Do not forget to click the submit button if you have made any changes on this
screen.
Alarms can be temporarily disabled by pressing the silence button on the Level Sense Sentry. If an
alarm cannot be quickly resolved, it will be necessary to disable the siren checkbox for the given
sensor in the portal or application.
