The LEK make Z-6water velocity data logger is microprocessor based system suitable
tomeasure flow velocity from mechanically rotating current meters.
The Instrument measures input signal, process it and display measured parameter on
a LCD display. Unit is provided to use with velocity equation.
Data of is measured and stored on non-volatile memory of the system. The channel
parameter like scan time, scan count , velocity equation, real time are keyboard
programmable. The unit may be operated in three modes i.e. velocity mode, pulse
mode and integration mode.
In velocity mode velocity is measured and displayed as per current meter constants
provide. In pulse mode unit operates for pre-programmed count and time taken to
complete programed count is measured and displayed. In integration mode the unit
starts counting when current meter enters in water and stops when current meter
touches the bed level. Data is displayed and stored.

The battery voltage is shown in %, the unit works faithfully till 85%
voltage/charge is remaining.
Built-in real time clock is provided to put the time stamp on measured data. The
data is stored in built-in memory and may be transferred to PC on command. The
stored data may be exported in Excel compatible file.
Windows based software is supplied with unit to capture velocity / count data on
command. The captured data may be exported to Excel file.
The unit is built-in battery operated. The unit is supplied with suitable
accessories and software to download the data to PC.

Key Details:

PROGRAMMING/ MEASUREMENTS:
STORE DATA:
In this mode the unit operated in selected mode and data is measured and stored in the memory automatically. A
total of 400 records may be stored. When memory is full no data is stored, therefore data should be
transferred to PC and memory should be cleared prior to measurement.
Note: Before conducting a test the following should be set/checked.
1. Feed velocity multiplier and velocity constant.
2. Select proper mode of operation.
a. VELOCITY MODE
In velocity mode, the measuring time is specified on pressing start the unit goes in velocity measurement mode.
The unit waits for first pulse from current meter after that velocity is displayed as 0.000m/s and scan time start
decrementing from set value say(30 Sec). When remaining time becomes 0 velocity is displayed. The process
can be stopped any time by pressing stop key in between also.
1. Press ‘START ’ key to store data on memory.
2. The velocity data of will be stored after the laps of scan time.
3. The reading is stored in memory , record no is displayed and measured values are also displayed after
storing data.
4. Press stop key when done.
b. PULSE MODE
In pulse mode, The number of impulses is defined, on pressing start the unit goes in pulse measurement mode.
The unit waits for first pulse from current meter after that pulse count is displayed. The units counts till target for
no of counts programmed is achieved. When target counts are over time taken to achieve counts is displayed.
The process can be stopped any time by pressing stop key in between also.
1. Press ‘START ’ key to store data on memory.
2. The count data and time taken will be stored.
3. The reading is stored in memory , record no is displayed and measured values are also displayed after
storing data.
4. The time taken is displayed in remark area of windows software. l
5. Press stop key when done.

c. INTEGRATION MODE
The current meter is lowered into the water- way using a cable way, for example, at a constant speed. The Z-6
deter- mines the measuring time and the number of impulses fromthe current meter entering the water until the
ground contact is closed.
On pressing start the unit goes in integration measurement mode. The unit waits for first pulse from current meter
after that pulse count is displayed. The units counts till current meter touches bed level. The process can be
stopped any time by pressing stop key in between also.
1. Press ‘START ’ key to store data on memory.
2. The count data and time taken will be stored.
3. The reading is stored in memory , record no is displayed and measured values are also displayed after
storing data.
4. The time taken is displayed in remark area of windows software.
5. Press stop key when done.
SETTING OPERATING MODE
This function is used to select current operating mode of Z-6. There are 3 operating modes.
1. Velocity mode
2. Pulse mode.
3. Integration mode.
4. Press `FUNCTION’ key momentarily.
5. The display will blink SET MODE.
6. Press ENTER key.
7. Press UP key again and again till desired operating mode is displayed.
8. Press “ENTER” key.
SETTING SCAN TIME
The scan time setting range is 5 sec to 120.
This is the time period formeasuring current meter pulses, and then calculate the velocity thereafter.
1. Press `FUNCTION’ key momentarily.
2. The display will blink SET MODE.
3. Press UP key till SCAN TIME is displayed.
4. Press ENTER key.
5. The old value is displayed for some time.
6. Now display blinks SCAN TIME?
7. Feed the desired value say(30) by UP/DN & Esc key.
8. Press “ENTER” key.

SETTING SCAN COUNT
The scan count setting range is 5 to 1000 pulses. These arecounts for which we want to measure the time taken
in current water stream.
1. Press `FUNCTION’ key momentarily.
2. The display will blink SET MODE.
3. Press UP key till SCAN COUNT is displayed.
4. Press ENTER key.
5. The old value is displayed for some time.
6. Now display blinks SCAN COUNT?
7. Feed the desired value say(30) by UP/DN & Esc key.
8. Press “ENTER” key
EDITINGCURRENT METER EQUATION
The velocity equation contains two part , part one is a multiplier and second part is a constant. Both the variables
can be edited in this function.
The format is as under
1.0007N+2.24
The first part is multiplier and the second part is a constant both are generated during current meter rating/test.
1. Press `FUNCTION’ key momentarily.
2. The display will blink SET MODE.
3. Press UP key again and again till EDIT EQUAT is displayed.
4. Press ENTER key.
5. The velocity multiplier is displayed in top line and velocity constant is displayed in bottom line for
some time..
6. Now display blinks old set equation in top line.
7. Edit equation by UP/DN & Esc key to desired value Say(0.4887N+1.27).
8. Press “ENTER” key
Note:
a. 0.4887 is velocity multiplier and 1.27 is velocity constant as per rating chart.
b. +/- sign appears before constant and can be modified by UP key.
SHOW DATA:
This function is used to display the stored data in memory.
1. Press `FUNCTION’ key momentarily.
2. The display will blink SET MODE.
3. Press UP key again and again till SHOW DATA is displayed.
4. Press ENTER key.

CLEARING STORED DATA IN MEMORY OF THE SYSTEM:
This function is used to delete stored data from memory. A total 400 records can be stored.
1. Press `FUNCTION’ key momentarily.
2. The display will blink SET MODE.
3. Press UP key again and again till DELETE DATA is displayed.
4. Press “ENTER” key.
5. The display will indicate ENTER PASS.=.
6. You are required to feed pass word “123” for that press UP key. The digit 0 will appear at first
place, press UP key again to make it 1. Now press Esc key once to shift to next digit and then
press UP key till next digit equal 2. Now press Esc key again to enter third digit. Press UP key to
make 3rd digit equal 3. Any digit is wrong can be decremented by DN key.
7. Press ENTER key.
8. The message ERASING DATA will appear and memory will be erased. Next record
will start from 1.
TIME / DATE SETTING
1. Press `FUNCTION’ key momentarily.
2. The display will blink SET MODE.
3. Press UP key again and again till DELETE DATA is displayed.
4. The display will blink DATE? = message. Feed the current date in day month year format i.e. 10/02/2014 (for
10th Feb 2014) by UP/DN & Esc key and then press 'ENTER’ key.
5. The display will blink TIME? =message. Feed the current time In 24 hrs format i.e. 05:03:20 (For 05hrs 03
minutes and 20 Seconds) by UP/DN & Esc key and then press 'ENTER’ key.
NOTE: Please enters 6 digit data while entering time and 8 digit data while entering date, no missing
digits.

Windows based software:
Windows based software is provided to set operating parameters and capturing data from
memory.
Installationof software:
1. Install usb driver software ch341ser.exe.
2. Install windows based software run WATERCM2020-1.0.exe .
3. Connect usb lead to data logger.
4. Run WATERCM2020 software.
5. The screen below will appear
6. The warning about non existing serial port will appear.
7. Click ok.
8. Click on connect , the following window will appear
9. Check Communication port no if multiple serial exists.
10. Select proper Communication port no and click ok
11. Close the software and run again.

Data down loading:
1. Connect usb lead to data logger.
2. Run WATERCM2020 software.
3. Click on velocity mode.
4. the screen below will appear.
5. Click on “VELOCITY” , and wait till data is down loaded.
6. Now you can check data and export data to excel file.

Downloading counts data.
1. Connect usb lead to data logger.
2. Run WATERCM2020 software.
3. Click on Count mode.
4. The screen below will appear.
5. Click on “COUNT” , and wait till count data is down loaded.
6. Now you can check data and export data to excel file.

date of Receipt by the customer, the instrument will be repaired free Of charge, provided that it has been used
within its mechanical, Electrical and environmental ratings and is returned to our works Carriage paid. No
