The PDC-888 is a high performance Closed Cap-
tion Decoder for the NTSC/PAL system. It is capa-
ble of displaying captions for CV, CAV and Y/C as
required by EIA-608. This includes the codes
specified by the FCC Report and Order on General
Docket No. 91-1 and EIA-608 recommended prac-
tices for Captions, Text and XDS.
Nine standard data channels are supported by the
PDC-888: Caption channels 1 through 4 (CC1-
CC4),Textmodes1through4(T1through T4), and
Extended Data Services (XDS). The various
operational modes are selectable from four front
panel switches.
The component inputs accept RGB or YUV. All
connectors use BNC except the S-Video connector
The caption data is keyed into all component
channels. Packaged in LINK's standard 1 RU 800
Series chassis, the PDC-888 is both rugged and
reliable.

The AC line voltage selects between 96 to 245
volts.
Designed with the professional user in mind, the
PDC-888processesCompositevideo,Component
video and S-Video. All video inputs including CV,
CAVand Y/C have AC power by-pass in theevent
power line failure. Component video is internally
terminated. S-Video is standard levels, using a 4-
pin Mini-Din connector for ease of operation. A
complementary differential input amplifier assures
highcommonmoderejectionwhileitsphase-linear
keyer cleanly inserts decoded characters into the
video image. Differential gain and phase are well
within 0.1% and 0.1° respectively.
In addition, the PDC-888 is backed by a standard
10-yearwarranty.Highperformance,flexibility,and
economy are equally represented in the PDC-888
Closed Caption Decoder.
